Mary specified our search based in what we told her. For nearly 6 months she worked for us until we found the perfect home. She would video, give recommendations and suggestions. She took everything into consideration. She educated us, and made sure we weren't getting a raw deal. She put our interest at heart and worked her tail off. This business may call itself Coldwell Banker Professional Realtors (CBPR), but their performance…read moreis definitely amateurish. Bottom Line Up Front: CBPR had our house to sell for twelve months and did not despite two price reductions and a change of listing agent. Our property was so unimportant to them, that issues like a broken window and rodents went unnoticed. Communication from the office to us was nearly nonexistent. This is not the behavior of a professional realty company. My first contact with CBPR was when my wife and I bought our house in April 2008. That part of the relationship was stellar. Our agent, Kayhan Ocal, patiently showed homes, answered questions and made the closing process nearly idiot-proof. When I was transferred in early 2014, it seemed a no brainer to use him and CBPR to sell our house. First, getting a straight answer about a price recommendation out of Mr. Ocal was like trying to nail Jello to a tree. Even with all the facts and several walk throughs of our home, he demurred, telling us that it's "our decision" and such. Got it. We know that. However, he's supposed to be the expert and have a clue what the house should list for. We wanted expert advice. Expected it. And didn't get it. We finally picked a price and asked his opinion. No opinion. Did we aim too low? Too high? What? Please give us some kind of feedback! The house sat on the market for six months under his stewardship and a price reduction and didn't sell. Fine. Finally, we started getting pushy for details about what he was actually doing to sell our property. The only Jello we could nail to the tree was that he had done two or three showings. Not fine. We promptly changed agents to a younger, seemingly hungrier and more motivated agent named Ryan LaPerle. Initially, he made some promising noises and reported he even did a few showings. However, after our property was no longer his new project, communication from him nearly ceased. We were the ones that had to ask for information rather than the earlier weekly reports we had been given. Later, any communication that came from the office was through a subordinate and at least once was factually inaccurate about our property. An agent who is interested in his clients is the one who calls. The message came through loud and clear: "You and your property aren't at all important to me or the company." A word about the property. You may be thinking "I'll bet you're trying to sell a dump!" False. Our property is a well-maintained, cozy, mid-1940s Cape Cod with hardwood floors, new appliances, and big back yard in a quiet neighborhood with quick access both to Norfolk Naval Base and Little Creek. We love our house. The house should sell itself. We wouldn't have bought a dump. We're not trying to sell one. Finally, we made the decision to rent. Here, we got wise and went with a different company, Bayview Realty. After Bayview Realty did their initial inspection of our property, it turns out that the company we entrusted with selling our house didn't even do periodic walk throughs to make sure the house was still salable. On CBPR's watch, rodents had moved in and a window had gotten broken. When? How? Who knows? An agent who is making showings and interested in getting the commission off of a sale would have noticed these things and contacted the owner as soon as he or she noticed. Don't waste your time here. I'm pretty sure that just about any other company will do better.

However, I quickly learned they are NOT military friendly at all. If you happen to go on orders and are not able to pay your rent they still charge you late fines and accumulate interest fees even if you give notice far in advance and a copy of your orders. No flexibility at all. In one particular case I was out of state for 3 weeks, gave notice and produced orders well in advance. Upon my return in the middle of the month, I came home to a summon to small claims court and a potential eviction for a single missed rent payment, after over a year of on time payments. No phone calls, no notice, anything other than a court summon. At first glance they seem nice enough, but if you are military and frequently go underway or on detachments avoid them like the plague!

Once I moved out I had the unit completely cleaned including the carpet and they still charged my $380 for painting the walls that were not painted before I moved in. When I called to ask about this she started had I stayed 15 months I would have NOT been charged for paint. However my lease was only 12 months! So they wanted me to stay an extra 3 months to save me $385. On top of that the parking is horrible and the rental staff is nothing but older ladies with bad attitudes I would not suggest moving here or any of their other properties.

This was a crazy market for buying a home. Property was on the market then off so fast. People paying above starting prices and not even having inspections. Jack worked with me for months of looking into different properties. We put in offers on several properties, some were passed over because I asked for an inspection or wasn't willing to overbid. Jack's sage advise was very welcoming and appreciated. They weren't right for me and would have been bad investments. Finally, after looking at so many condos and townhouses, I actually found a house that we went into and I felt at home upon entering. Jack was able to set up inspections. With information he was able to gather, we made a game plan and made the purchase. He was able to get me a reduction in my purchase price to cover the work I needed to get done to the house to make it move in ready. It also allowed me to save some funds from the sale of my family home, to put aside for other improvements that I would like to do down the road. He also offered his experience of working with contractors to get the work done. Thank You Jack Blake for being a great realtor and becoming an awesome friend.

I was paired w/Rhonda M. & things greatly improved. I was in Maryland locating back to Hampton Roads for work and she was here lining up options for me when I'd drive down on the weekends. Not wanting to rent, I decided to buy and was lucky enough to find new construction well within my price range that allowed me to customize to my preference. The dealings w/Century 21 & Rhonda were transparent throughout the entire process. A few times I did want her to be a bit more aggressive with the builder (EDC) when notified of move in delays. It all worked out and if I had to work with them again, I'd chose Century 21 & Rhonda again. There were no bait and switch foolishness, no last minutes items needed that would belabor the process. Even after closing; they keep in touch and are very helpful when I need questions answered or a referral. They do offer property management and referrals for rentals as well. I do feel I could refer them with confidence.
