The Baytree Cafe in Ottery St Mary was taken over in 2010 by new owner Sally Gooding who previously managed another cafe. Since taking over the cafe, Sally has made many a change to the menu and can offer excellent food, drink and service. Latte's, cappuccino's, americano's, pots of tea, hot chocolates are some of the drinks that she can offer along with her selection of cold drinks in the fridge, so plenty to choose from and all great! She serves breakfasts all day which are the best in the town and are very reasonably priced. She also has an extensive main meals menu which consists of ham, egg and chips, fish, chips and peas, homemade cottage pie and vegetables, homemade lasagne and salad and even omlettes of choice made to order. And the food is always delicious! Another positive with the cafe is that she serves homemade daily specials which truely are magnificent. If you want to pop in for a light snack, Saly also serves sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and panini's which come with a big selection of fillings to choose from, made fresh to order.
Sally and her staff always give the warmest weclomes and cannot do enough for you! Whenever i visit the cafe i always leave having had a laugh and some good food! I would thoroughy recommend this cafe as it is one of the best.
I also see from a previous review that they say there are only 6 tables which seat 4. This is now changing. Sally is currently having renovation work done and is expanding the cafe into the empty space next door, which will allow for more tables and more space. I believe this work will be finished by the middle of October. In the mean time she is still open for business!
If you are in Ottery St Mary for whatever reason, it is worthwhile to visit this wonderful cafe, you will not be dissapointed! read more
