Compact like everything in Shaldon, The Strand Cafe is clean and pretty with its tasteful decor, and has nice views of Shaldon Beach and the Teign Estuary. The menu is very thoughtful and pleasing; I had a special for my main course called a "Beef Carbonnade", which was some kind of insanely awesome beef stew type thing with an amazing sauce and a pool of amazing creamy melted cheese on the top, plus some little, like, toasts. It was so good that I just oh my god. They also have awesome pastries made in-house, and they do hot cocoa right, whatever that means. That is to say, it works whatever it is because it is really creamy and tasty. Wow, this place. Go there.
