While she can provide recommendations of good mold remediation companies who do good work, she is not tied to a specific remediation company, so she can provide independent unbiased results, as she does not personally gain anything based on her recommendations. If you think you have a mold problem and need someone to inspect, you won't go wrong if you hire Deb Gordon. She is first and foremost a scientist, but also a pleasure to work with. He was careful to speak on those things for which were in his scope of practice and directed us to other experts and resources when necessary (though to be fair he seemed to know a lot about a lot). What we appreciated most about his approach was his ability to identify issues in the house without being alarmist. He does a fantastic job of prioritizing concerns especially for folks like us--first time home buyers---while also differentiating the safety risks from general concerns that are important but less critical. This helped us to frame our next steps and be organized about maintaining our home. We found him to be friendly and personable with a sense of humor, which is actually kind of important because a home inspection can be tense stressful and overwhelming for many. Like we mentioned, he is thorough. There were so many places he could have cut corners because something was inaccessible. He did just the opposite. He worked with our realtor in one instance to help gain permission from the seller to get access to the attic.
