I love these old resorts in new England. The main building was built in the late 1700's and still…read morehas the old fireplaces with the brick ovens. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are clean. They are keeping up with technology, as they have satellite TV and great wifi. They even have a public computer with a printer. The kitchen was small but very efficient and fairly new. The work-out room is nice, and the pool is warm and clean. They keep the grounds well groomed and are really paying attention to guest comfort. Being an older resort, the floors creak some and so do the stairs, which I think adds to the experience of staying in a colonial building. It is definitely on the list of places to stay when touring New England again. Edit: I wrote this review while in Wolfeboro, so Yelp thinks I'm from there, but I'm not. St. Clairsville, OH is more accurate.

Complained at 6pm. to front desk. She said they just check in give them sometime to settle in. Went out to get an ice cream , came back and watch t.v. all was quiet. Went to bed at nine. At ten thirty the noise started again the elephants were at it again , eoke us up from a sound sleep.Went on till around five thirty am. We checked out around seven thirty am. Couldn't take noise anymore, complained to front desk. She said would tell her manager. Haven't heard anything back They should have taken something off for our disruption, the room was great . But the noise was to much. Very dissatisfied. Will not teturn.

We rented a Lake Bluff Cabin, it has a screened in porch and a stove top to cook on. If you rent a cabin, you'll have most of items you need like pots pans, plates, utensils but you need to pack pillows and linens. My sister rented the white pines cabin and had a full stove to cook with (nice) but no screened in porch. Highly recommend renting the golf cart, it's pricey but if you can afford to splurge a little the kids will love it and it was one of the highlights of our trip or you could also bring your bikes. The pool is great, not too deep about 3.6in and there were 2 warming tubs! Note the Picnic food trailer doesn't open until 1pm, which is kind of late. The food was decent and priced reasonably. Even the ice cream was delicious but they were down to only 3 flavors by day 2 of our visit. Make sure you sign up in advance for activities as they fill up fast. Mini golf was complimentary and some of the activities had a small fee ( very reasonable ) On certain nights you can preorder a seafood dinner and pick it up at the ranger station, we got the lobster and bbq chicken and the kids chicken tenders. It was delicious and perfect when you don't feel like cooking. There is not much for food around the area unless you feel like going on a 20-30 ride so pack accordingly. Tips: Bring bug spray and bug itch cream, you will need it! Pack 2 towels for each person if you can. One for pool and one for cabin. Bring some lighting for nighttime if you plan to be outside. On our visit Wi-Fi was only available at recreation center be prepared to let the kids use your hot spot. Download their app! It's helpful! We can't wait to visit again!

We drove up to listen to "The Jovial Crew" Saturday. This group performs Shanty, folklore rich songs of the sea, pub and more. Amazing vocals from the guys and a chance to join in to sing along. This was a BYOB event, a traditional Grog mix was provided by the Inn Keepers (non alcoholic) to which you could add the "Spirit"that you brought with you. House made Desserts were included with admission. They even had some themed treats, Hardtack and Joe Froggers. If you were staying at the Follansbee Inn, admission for the concert was included. For locals, tickets were available at the door. But, stay at the Inn for an overnight, their Breakfasts are included and amazingly delicious.

This place is not a cookie cutter minimalist hotel, it feels like a home. The lake is across the street and the dock provides a wonderful view of the hills and Loon Island. With the ample choices of seating, a hammock, canoes and Kayaks one has no problem finding something to enjoy. Thank you Dennis for your hospitality and the wonderful food.
