The view off the pier is nice. But, the place itself is kind of run down. The stores could use some sprucing up. But I guess you can only do so much when the only revenue you take in is during the summer months. Also, why don't they rent canoes or kayaks? There's nowhere to rent kayaks anywhere near here in Queens. And the water in this cove is perfect for beginner kayakers. Very calm and safe. There's a parking lot that you need a permit for. Don't even think of parking here. There's always a tow truck hiding nearby. It gets very expensive. You can park across the Cross Island, in the residential areas of Bayside and then walk across on the overpass. Or you can park about a mile down the parkway, at the Bell Blvd exit, where there's a lot servicing Fort Totten. Either way, you're here to walk and take in the sights. Might as well park a bit further out and get some exercise.

Serene spot, looks like a good spot to come get the sea breeze, fish, and just enjoy the scenery Didn't get to spend much time here as I got lost in the area and stumbled here by accident. Had to get home as it was getting very dark. Would come here again in the future, bridge is cool too.

I've always passed this place driving by on the highway but I've never been here until recently. There are a few ways to get here but by car you have to enter on the Cross Island. Its a quick exit and entrance getting into the parking lot so be careful if you are coming this way. There are a few parking places and there are places for permit holders only. The permits are only good for certain hours, mostly on the weekends. Other times, anyone can park there. There is also a ramp to launch a boat from this parking lot as well. The marina itself is basically a pier that runs out to the water. There is a cafeteria style place for food and drinks, a small tackle shop and then the marina. That portion is only accessible if you have a boat there. I didn't go into the cafeteria but from what I saw it was burgers, wings, fries and soda type of place. There are a few picnic tables out back to enjoy as well. I was here on a weekend and pretty nice day and it was pretty busy so keep that in mind. There are also restrooms here as well. You can also rent boats by the hour here as well as fishing rods. This is a very cool place even if you aren't boating. I definitely plan on coming back.

OK place to come for fishing and to enjoy a view. However, it is usually filled with obnoxious people that disturb peaceful times. That is sad, elsewhere it would have been an awesome place to come chill

This is a gorgeous place to exercise or go for a romantic date while on a moonlit walk. I've been coming here for years. It's very picturesque and serene. Many people bike and jog. Located in the heart of Bayside 1 exit away from the Throggs Neck Bridge to the Bronx, is this gem. If youre dumb you will park where there's a TOWING warning. If you are smart you will park on the Fort Totten entrance along Bell Blvd. I come here to run and get peace of mind from time to time. Worth the 15 min drive along the Cross Island. Many people fish, take a boat out to sea. It's absolute gorgeous landscape. I advise not to run alone and to wear bright clothing at night so u don't get killed. Reading all this is fundamental.

The Marina has such a shady business model to earn quick and excessive car-towing fees. We parked and left the car literally for about 5 minutes in the lot where there is no sign of assigned parking. A towing truck quickly backed off to my car, placed the wheel lift to my car, and turn on the siren. We ran back to the car immediately and were told by the truck guy that the lift could only be removed if I paid him $125 plus tax. At that moment, I thought I was in a third world country falling into victim to some sort of bad scam. The towing truck driver asked for our driver license which I wasn't sure if he has the legal right to do so. After the credit card was swiped, an invoice was handed to me and I realized the tow truck driver made some fraudulent statement on the invoice. First, he fabricated the fact that the car was on the lot for over 50 minutes before he took action. Further, he lied about the car was being towed away and towed back to the marina parking lot. However, my car never left the parking spot and it was just being lifted. Plus, from parking, leaving and returning to the car was just merely less than 5 minutes. After doing more research later, I realized the full charge of $125 is a violation of New York Code 19-169.1(g) that said the tow truck should have disconnected the hook at the owner presence immediately without interference, charge only 1/2 of the full charge allowed for removal, and demonstrate a legible copy of the code with the particular paragraph highlighted during the encounter. The tow driver driver failed to comply to any of these required by law. They manipulated people's fear of their cars being towed and made their illegal gain based on people unfamiliarity of the relevant NYC laws and regulations. I read some reviewers being charged over $200 or $300 and also being asked to pay in cash. Are these even legit? Bayside Mariner and their friends and families said "Read the sign or it is your own fault!". If the parking lot is a private property, there should be a huge visible sign stating "Private Property" or "Members Only", just like any other country clubs which definitely can prevent people from making wrong parking judgement. A tow truck onsite on a full time basis already implied how big and important this car towing "business" is. Just like all other private properties, if the Mariner does not intend to profit from the ill-intention, a few huge red signs should effectively get rid of most unauthorized parking issues. It should be noted that NYC Park has a small sign saying "Parking Permit required", but did not mention penalty could be imposed by the Bayside Mariner. NYC park signs around the parking lot also added another layer of confusion to everyone whether the lot is a public or private property. The question is that if it is a public property, why NYC let a tow truck guy to perform its parking enforcement duty and collect fees? There are hundreds of complaints about this aggressive private towing enforcement reported in Yelp, Google and even Tripadvisor. Definitely, thousands and thousands more were not revealed publicly.

A nice place to watch sunset over the Throgs Neck Bridge with NY Skyline as the backdrop. However pay attention to the parking sign.

*** Avoid towing: Park your car legally & safely on 28th Avenue (a dead end street) near 216th Street; walk across convenient pedestrian bridge. *** Restroom lights are on timers! Set them with adequate time upon entering so you are not left in the dark. *** Snack bar has very limited options; instead, bring a picnic lunch. *** Extremely efficient launch service; fabulous (& relatively inexpensive) location on Long Island Sound for a boat.

This is small concession stand located on a dock that juts out into Little Neck Bay. The only way I know how to get here is by bicycle, but its also accessable by boat and car (right off the Cross Island Parkway). The combination of old timers fishing away the day, water rolling underneath the dock, sailboats out in the distance, wide open sky, and the fact that this place is far from the hustle and bustle, make for a perfect afternoon of greasy food and relaxation.

Beautiful spot to just walk and watch the boats on a sunny day. No real parking and no food shops other than small convenience store which has cold drinks.
