Our unit came with a fully equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher), a washer dryer and even a whirlpool bathtub. Our room was quaintly decorated and the bed very comfortable. We loved having breakfast on the side patio and Greg and Belinda even supplied us with a bbq for our month long stay. We received excellent value for our stay. We made sure to explore the local walking paths and swam in the pool daily. We also enjoyed beachcombing and the playground daily but the true icing on the cake were Greg and Belinda. They were incredibly helpful and friendly to make sure we got to enjoy all the local hidden treasures of Smiths Cove and the surrounding areas.

Quick notes are the third floor suite is very nice but there's no elevator so if you have any problems climbing three flights with luggage keep that in mind and the "private pool" isn't on the same property as the actual house, you need to walk a hundred meters or so down the road.

Huge windows and a private balcony made it the perfect place to sit with a glass of wine as the sun went down, and being able to look over the water. The bed was SO comfortable, and it was a wonderful setup. I easily could have stayed there for days. Breakfast is served at 7:30 and 9, and was really delicious the day I stayed. The owners were lovely people who had lots of brochures about places around the area. I would only knock off half a star because the cleaning crew started cleaning my room while I was at breakfast, even though I was checking out that morning. I had to wait for them to finish so I could pack and finish getting ready, and then they were irritated with me that they had to go back in and clean again. Clearly miscommunication on their part, and not a huge deal, but it was definitely a little irritating. I'll definitely come back here again.

Digby is a small town so we…read moredecided we would look around Digby, not just in town to find a place to stay and that is how we found Cliffside. Architecturally this place is on another planet. It is just huge inside and out. When you come down the driveway you see this giant stone house perched near the cliffs, the Bay of Fundy splashing bellow. Then you walk in the main doors and come into the Great Room, an enormous room with high ceilings, a giant fireplace, paintings, a grand staircase and 4 giant windows overlooking the bay. Off of the Great Room were the Havana Room (a smaller lounge area) the dinning room and the kitchen. All of the bedrooms were upstairs (3 suits and 1 family suit). They have balconies in the Master and Family suits as well as 2 other balconies that can be used by anyone. There is also a viewing platform down a path to the right of the house which has another amazing view. Our host was Diane and she was great. She does not live in the house itself but she does live on the property and was happy to help whenever we needed her. She prepared breakfast every morning at 9am and it consisted of a fruit bowl/platter (based on the number of guests) and home made breads followed by a main course (we had blueberry pancakes, eggs and bacon, french toast). The food was good and we were always full. For our room we were in the East Wing. It was a very nice room with its own bathroom, a Queen bed, TV and all the things you would expect. The bed was nice and soft which we like and we had tons of space which was nice. This place was great but we did have a few issues. There was no air conditioning in the rooms. They have thermostats in the rooms but they can only do heat. The only other concern we had was that breakfast had no selection. We didn't have an issue with this but I can see how someone could have issues if something they were not fond of was served for breakfast. In conclusion, this place was great. It is by far the most extravagant house I've ever stayed in and it had amazing views and service. I would recommend Cliffside to anyone staying near Digby.

Our room, the maroon room, was decorated in Victorian style that some would call dated, but fits with the rest of the house. The hosts, Maria and Bob, are very pleasant and will chat with you as much, or as little as you want. The maroon room is very spacious and has a wonderful view of the basin and the property's gardens. It also had cable TV and free wifi. Bob is a retired executive chef and it shows in the quality of the complimentary breakfast. The cranberry scones were wonderful, especially with some of the lemon curd. Strawberry muffins were next and they were fantastic. Better still was the absolutely flawless egg Benedict. This was one of the best I've ever had. $95 taxes in for all this, who could ask for more?

Each room is beautifully decorated with antiques and every morning you are greeted to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and muffins and scones baking in the oven to go along with a full breakfast served in the very formal dining room. The room may be formal, but the atmosphere is very relaxed. I really can't wait to go back! One word AWESOME or maybe EXTRAORDINARY. Just remember they are open from April 1-November 30. The house is like a comfortable museum - beautifully decorated with antique items, but you don't feel like you're in a "no touch" zone. The hostess was super friendly and extremely accommodating, especially when we told her we would miss breakfast because we had to leave a little early to go whale watching. She and her staff started breakfast early and still fed us a full feast! It's centrally located, an easy walk to the center of Annapolis Royal but still a bit quiet and tucked away. We stayed in Room 2, which has a wonderful bed (comfy and quiet) and a large free-standing tub perfect for soaking in. The only complaint is that we're a bit sensitive to noise on a road, and this room is at the front of the house, so you can hear the cars moving along. However, the house is set back from the road, so it's not a considerable annoyance, and there is not much that the Inn can do about that. As it is, they do have an AC unit in the room, so it's easy to keep windows closed. Room 2 has a great free standing bathtub and a comfy and quiet bed. You don't share a wall with any other guests since the bathroom separates your bedroom from other guests, so it's very private.

We were in the Carriage House behind the main building, which was like a small apartment with two bathrooms, a living room and a bedroom. Others in our group spoke highly of the historic main building. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet (except for the morning serenade from local songbirds). The breakfasts were delicious and the host-made scones were the best I've ever had. It was located not far from town, and we were able to walk to local establishments during our stay. Not sure when I'll make it back to Annapolis Royal, but when I do I'm staying at Queen Anne.

First order diagnosis was done in five minutes and a plumber was on site within 45 minutes on a Saturday morning. We had hot water in half an hour. Every business has issues. The mark of a great business is how they deal with them while preserving the customer experience. The owners Kate and Lazlow at Queen Anne Inn clearly put the customer first. Kate makes breakfast while Lazlow serves. On busy days they have extra help. The owners make sure the quality is maintained. Breakfast menus the two days we were there started with a scone, a yogurt parfait or berry smoothie (lots of berries in season while we were there), and a choice of two mains. The Belgian waffle and the savory crepe we ate were excellent. Wherever Kate learned to cook it worked. The public rooms in the main building are lovely. In addition to the two interconnected dining rooms there are two separate sitting rooms. The furnishings are at once elegant and comfortable. We stayed in the cottage behind the main building with an upstairs bedroom and a downstairs living room. Again, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Regardless of the season Queen Anne Inn is a welcoming and comfortable place to stay in Annapolis Royal NS.

We got there late and had to leave early for the ferry and our only regret is not getting there sooner to enjoy the property and the lake.
