At the last minute she became afraid and refused to move in. We notified them immediately and returned the keys two days later. She never occupied the apartment and never used their services. They still kept half--more than $9,000--and said we would not even see that half back for three months. They could have rented the unit as soon as we turned in the keys. Their ads sell a caring community. When it came to money after a senior got scared and never moved in, there was nothing caring about it. Get the refund rules in writing before you pay. And for God's sake, make sure your mother or father is not going to change their mind. It will cost you a fortune. Longer version (Caring.com, SeniorAdvisor, A Place for Mom) We reserved an independent-living apartment at Solstice Senior Living at Bakersfield for my mother-in-law on a six-month lease. We paid what they required, bought furniture, and spent weeks getting her ready to move. At the last moment she became afraid of the move and said she could not go through with it. We told the community right away and returned the keys two days after that notice. She never moved in, never put belongings in the unit, and never used dining, activities, or any other services. When we asked for the money back, they said corporate policy only allows half. That half is more than $9,000 they are keeping for an apartment nobody lived in. They also told us we would not even receive that half until after three months. The unit was empty and the keys were back. They could have rented it as soon as we turned the keys in, yet they still hold most of our money and delay even the partial refund. Their advertising shows a warm, caring place for families and seniors. That is not what we saw when the issue was money. A company that markets compassion should not keep over $9,000, delay the rest for three months, and sit on an apartment that was never occupied. If you are considering Solstice, read the lease and refund rules before you pay a dollar. Ask exactly what they keep if the resident never moves in, how long they hold the refund, and whether they will re-rent immediately. Do not assume the caring image in the ads applies to refunds. And for God's sake, make sure your mother or father is not going to change their mind. It will cost you a fortune.

The further inside you go the worse it gets. Three beds to a tiny room you can barley move. I went to put my parents clothes in the closet drawers and it was so dirty I don't think they have ever cleaned them out. I was questioned by two different staff members as to who would be doing my parents laundry. Surely not you as you can't even pick up trash from the floor let alone wash laundry. I pulled back the blinds and could see 5 or more beds outside with a big blue tarp in the general area, lord knows what was under it. Patient beds are old, the kind you have to crank to raise and lower the head and foot. When I called and asked for my parents room the person who works there asked if they were an employee or residence. Why would I call ask for an employees room? Please do not put your loved one in this hell hole!! Even if it means you spend a few extra days find a better place you will be thankful I assure you. If I have to cash in my 401k to get my loved one in a better facility I will gladly live my retirement years in box to have peace of mind now. Thank heavens my loved is only in this situation for a small period of time, no matter how short of time it WON'T be at this place!!

But no sooner than she arrived there , we were working on getting her out of there. As my Sister and I walked in she almost slipped and fell in a puddle of water from a Leakey roof. On top of that , it reeked of urine and mold throughout the halls. In her room where they have 3 beds squeezed in, the beds are at least 10 years old or more. The curtains were a dingy yellow color with a musty scent to them. We proceed to tell the person working there my Mother hasn't had dinner. They than bring her a cold sandwich which looks like something they feed prisoners. We also tell her that she has to use the bathroom and the person working there tells My Mother in a voice as which you would speak to a child " You pee-pee you diaper and we clean you ". Needless to say we brought My Mother home. So if you have someone who you love and care about, PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM HERE.!

I feel blessed that my mother and I chose Hoffmann Hospice for her end of life care. After three…read moresurgeries for cancer, my mother moved into an assisted living facility in 2013 for 14 months before she enthusiastically returned to independent living. Even though she had a pacemaker, her heart issues required nothing more than close monitoring by her primary care physician and cardiologist until seven months ago. She suffered congestive heart failure in June 2019, broke her pelvic bone in July and experienced a second episode of heart failure in September that same year. Each time, she entered rehab after being discharged from the hospital. Things seemed to be going OK until January 2020. Her heart failed again, but this time, her lungs were compromised. The hospital staff talked about rehab before steering us toward other options. My mother and I agreed that returning to assisted living with hospice care added to her care plan was the best thing to do. We chose Hoffmann. The nurse who evaluated my mother and approved my mother's admission was thorough, very professional and at the same time treated my mother like a dear friend. I arrived at the assisted living facility late Friday afternoon a few minutes before my mother entered her apartment. Hoffmann's staff had already delivered a hospital bed, a new wheelchair, an oxygen concentrator and other medical supplies. The admitting nurse stopped by later that same day to review my mom's treatment plan. My mom was weary but alert and talkative. As a result, I was hoping my mom would plateau for some weeks or maybe even months. However, that did not happen. Over the weekend, my mother's condition started to decline. Rajvir Sidhu, the RN case worker assigned to my mother, started visiting my mom multiple times daily. Her focus was keeping my mother comfortable while she closely monitored my mother's condition which was deteriorating from day to day. Hoffmann sent a chaplain and case worker to support Rajvir's care for my mom. I was surprised but welcomed these extra layers of care. Based on my experience, Rajvir was kind and compassionate throughout the hospice process... more like a daughter than someone assigned to a medical staff. Within four days, my mother lost all appetite and had difficulty communicating as her breathing became more difficult. An hour before my mother left this world to join our Lord, Rajvir was still hovering over her trying to make her comfortable. When my mother finally found peace, I was with her. After some quiet time alone with my mother, I called for Rajvir and she returned to my mother's room to confirm what I already knew. Rajvir's compassion then turned toward me. When I was ready, Rajvir stepped forward and helped guide me through the next steps in preparing my family to say their final farewells. Yes, I unequivocally recommend Hoffmann Hospice.

Round 1 The Lab gets 2 stars this location on Stockdale for my appointment I waited in the line marked appointments for 10 minutes with no one even coming out to see if there were customers waiting. 14 minutes in all and 6 customers outside a young man walks out and asks if there are any appointments I raised my hand and he checked me in. fine .. I look on the lab board and I am dead last.. ok I wait about 5 minutes and 3 people go into the lab. I walk back to the counter to ask why I have a 50-55 MJ ute wait when I have an appointment. He said " you have an appointment? I said yes when you asked I raised my hands and you checked me in . The young man checked me in and I shot to the top of the list . 1-2 minutes wait time. Round 2 I get called back and I asked for a butterfly needle because I have issues with the normal size and phlebotomists missing my veins.. Since I figured this out 6 years ago I have never had a problem.... Until now I get a girl/woman who puts in the butterfly and misses my vein.. spills out and reinserts to fine the vein. Blood drawn I get gauze and tape cool.. next day .. pictures below.. Round 3 my 9 yr old daughter goes with my wife and gets blood drawn with a butterfly needle , says the girl missed and had to wiggle it around . My wife was upset and took down her name says she told it to my kids PCD. Guess what ? same phlebotomist. So this is my issue and I've never done this before but the Stockdale location is fine except this one phlebotomist. I wont say her name but it rhymes with Bristal. Kaiser please send this person back to phlebotomy school I have never bruised in the last 6 years and my child bruised once a a child. This is expected but not with such frequency.. I'm sure she misses much more than she hits This is totally unacceptable. I've had blood drawn every 3 months for the last 12 years at the VA and let me tell you they are bad but they don't deal with children so it's different. Head are the pics of my arm I'll do an update my kid is ashamed to go to school with a noticeable bruise on her arm and wears a compression sleeve to hide it.. Luckily she's a bit athletic so her friend think it's cool. Long story but I believe necessary.

The individuals posting these single-starred reviews ought to be out and out ashamed of themselves! I mean WTF? REALLY? Oh, wait, - I get it! It's all about THEM! Never once thinking about the employees and what patient load they have, their responsibility in treating patients within the "standard of care" and legally accepted protocols that govern damn near every single F*ing thing in this F*ing state due to Gruesome Newsome - as well as caring for illiterate people who know absolutely nothing about decency, respect, and consideration for others - let alone medical treatments for diagnosed, as well as undiagnosed conditions! Absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. OMG! WELL, all you single-starred reviewers, I got NEWS for you. Our experience was absolutely one of concern, caring, respect and consideration for our situation. We politely requested if the TV could be turned down, and the staff bent over backwards trying to help. They couldn't get the TV remote to work, and instead of giving up, handed it to my husband (who can fix literally anything just by looking at something) and indeed, he got the TV volume reduced. NOW, how is that rude? How is it rude to ask someone to not "throw up on the floor" when throwing up on the floor causes others to become potentially exposed (in medical lingo called cross-contamination...OMG!) to whatever virus and/or bacteria the individual may have causing hyperemesis, as well as causing a tripping hazard, AND maybe making someone leave the urgent care sicker than when they came in catching that damn "throw-up" virus/bacteria!!! Use your damn BRAIN. Oh, wait, that's right...no one does that anymore because their brains are all stuck inside their iPhones...or "where the sun don't shine" - which is far more likely. P.S. A really big THANK YOU to "Ana" for being so considerate, CALLING US telling that she would walk out to the car to give a card left behind to us (when we came back) so we wouldn't have to come in to get it. EVER HEARD OF THAT????? That qualifies as a 20-star review in my book.
