I have to admit, I was very sceptical when this shop opened in Muswell Hill not long ago: frozen…read moreconvenience food - seriously? On top of it, they come along with this cheezy-sounding marketing splur: "On every COOK dish you'll find the name of the chef who prepared your food." Yet, sceptical or not, my curiosity outweighed and so I popped in the other day and browsed their selection. The folks in the store were very friendly and offered samplings, which is always a nice touch. I then asked someone for a recommendation and the she told me that I should try the "Moroccan Harissa Chicken" and the "Minted Couscous" on the side. And so I followed her advise, as well as the cooking instructions on the packaging later at home. And let me tell you, I was seriously surprised as how good this tasted. Indeed, the folks at Cook are definitely staying true to their motto: "Our food looks and tastes homemade (maybe even a bit better!)" I'm convinced of this great concept and I'm planning a trip to the Cook store in Muswell Hill as I'm typing this. It might be not as affordable as the stuff you get at Coop or Sainsbury's, but it tastes so much better!

They carry the same range of frozen meals and ready to eat snacks. They're always innovating and I interested to see a range of Indian dishes today I have tried some of their frozen desserts, which were great. Today, I contented myself with some bags of satay peanuts after my large meal at Chooks

Amazing breakfast and brunch/lunch!!…read more Tucked away off the main street, this hidden gem is super cosy and comfortable, perfect for sharing food, coffee and stories with a couple of friends. Fresh, super tasty and lots of rich flavours. We shared the vegetarian breakfast, pancakes with jam and maple syrup as well as the bread selection, all delicious! The cornbread is particularly tasty. I'd love a place like this in my own neighbourhood!

To the delectable baked cakes and breads. Everything just feels so tactile and earthy. There's lovely light streaming in the huge front windows if you're sitting inside. Or sit out in the front in the sun. There are brollies in the summer and blankets in the autumn. Pointer - have the tea. Even if you feel like coffee, have the tea! Honestly it's an experience. An olive-wood board with a selection of painstakingly-sourced ingredients : honey, lemongrass, cardamom, fresh mint, cinnamon stick, the list goes on, and a pot of hot water. Yes, you have the option of using the dull little bag of tea leaves you ordered BUT you'll be sacrificing your ingenuity and an opportunity to create a flavour-extravaganza. Throw the bag away, you don't need it! Customers are overwhelmingly mums, grandparents and girlfriends meeting to natter. Recently I sat next to two laptops with people connected to them, but they're a minority.

I don't usually leave reviews (this will be my first on Yelp site) but felt compelled to write one…read moreafter the experience I had at Amici yesterday. I live locally and my husband and I have stopped by a few times to grab a quick take away sandwich. I stopped by yesterday to eat-in because I had a few minutes to spare and ordered the 'Goats cheese & Sun dried tomato' sandwich. As I stood at the counter I saw the lady fumbling to look for the cheese but didn't think much of it as I made my way to sit at a table. A few minutes later when I received my sandwich I couldn't see any white colored goats cheese in it. I took a bite and confirmed it was NOT goats cheese as it turned out to be yellow cheese. I went to the counter TWICE and politely asked which cheese they used because I know what Goats cheese tastes like and the fact that Goats cheese is always white. The staff member insisted what they gave me was Goats cheese and eventually showed me the cheese they used, which was YELLOW and labelled 'Giglio Cheese'. She claimed this was Goats cheese from Sardinia. Despite my explanation (and I wasn't complaining, I was pointing out that what they gave me was not what I ordered) all 3 of the staff members teamed up and insisted there are different types of Goats cheese and this is the type of Goats cheese made from Sardinia. I google'd Giglio Cheese when I got home and it is SHEEP'S CHEESE. Considering there are people who may have specific allergies, I would not recommend this cafe to anyone as they seem to think they can replace ingredients without your consent and insist they are what they are NOT.

The products they sell are really good quality and the staff are always really friendly. The only problem I have is that they often go a long time without restocking items. I've gone in a few times for coffee onlyto find that there aren't enough tables. It's unfortunate that they don't have a huge amount of space but it's a great compliment to them that they're always so busy! The staff are always really helpful and eager to get you whatever you want.
