It costs $2 to enter and helmets are required. The skatepark NEEDS people to visit so the City of Clearwater doesn't shut it down. At over 25k square feet, this is one of the largest skatepark areas in the Tampa Bay area (only St. Pete Regional is larger). The skatepark definitely needs some maintenance. Two of the structures (half-pipe and funbox) are fenced off and closed due to wear/tear. There are still several ramps and quarter pipes of varying heights, rails, steps and more. For beginners there is a LOT of open flat space to simply skate around on, and that space is also great for practicing tricks as well. There are food and drink vending machines, clean bathrooms and a seating area for parents/friends to sit and watch or relax. If you're anywhere near, definitely come visit and help keep this place open.

My daughter and niece are toddlers so they played on the playground while the boys played on the skate park area. It's enclosed which is nice so the little ones aren't running into the skateboarding area. It's kept pretty clean with water fountains and picnic tables close by.

It is pretty & has great walking/biking trails but it has way too many overgrown areas that seem unsafe to me. Way too many places you can "disappear" in this inner city park. Plus, the water is not flowing, there is no water fountain, not that I saw & there are way too many bugs bc of the stagnant water. One day I was there, it was raining & it was flooding all over. So the park doesn't have good drainage. Maybe that's why all the bugs & mosquitoes. Either way, it's not the best one I have found by far. There are far more better options/safer options in the area. When I learned that the Trail is 28 miles long it blew me away. The commitment to build and maintain this fantastic walk/run/bike trail is stupendous! I took my kid there yesterday around noon, so he could get a distance run in with less traffic. He's an experienced runner but did not enjoy! I assume the trail was created for dog / walkers, runners and pedal bikers. We did see a few dog / walkers and many pedal bikers which were no issue. We saw at least 30 e-bikes, with a decent portion of them driving way too fast. It's not a trail when motorized vehicles are allowed, it's a road. Only in Florida! Won't be back.

How I managed to get away without being stung is beyond me. Tried to spray my dog down with cool wster to help, but the spraying wand was so short, all I could do was make it rain on my poor boy. Just devastating to have a great day ruined because there was no upkeep to keep the dogs safe. All it takes is a quick inspection once a week, and this could all be avoided. I will never bring my dog here again.

We've been trying out some different biking trails around the Orlando area. We've now visited the…read moreSeminole Wekiva Trail twice. We like it because it's more scenic than some other paved trails. It's also quite long, so you can choose how far you want to go. The first time we kept going alongside I-4 in Lake Mary, but the second time, we turned and went over I-4 (yes, OVER) and then continued down the trail that way before heading back. Coming from Winter Garden, the San Sebastian Trailhead is the closest jumping on point, and it's also near the beginning of the Trail. The trail does extend a couple of miles further across 436 and down by the Costco, but it seems too busy and trafficky that way. My GPS didn't take me to the correct spot for the trailhead, though, so be careful of that. The road to the trailhead is next to the left of the Rooms-to-Go parking lot with only a tiny sign indicating it. If you turn into a neighborhood (like my GPS suggested), you can't get to the trailhead from there. I love to see the art work painted on the backs of wooden fences as I bike down the trail. Someone has done of excellent job of making boring fences look exciting. There's also a decent amount of shade throughout the trail, and I love how they've built two tunnels under major intersections for bikes to safely cross.

Trains trees and…read more tortoises The Seminole Wekiva Trail is a multi purpose trail that was converted from the old Orange Belt Railway. The rail was built waaaaaay back in 1888 and at one time was the longest narrow gauge railway in the world. The trains are long gone and rail service was discontinued in the early part of the 20th century and the path laid dormant until some progressive minds decided to put it to good use. The whole length is about 14 miles long so with a 28 mile round trip the journey can give you a decent workout on a bike. One thing that became very apparent is the absence of hills. The whole stretch is very flat and straight which means it's a very easy ride and a great place to hit the afterburners and really move in the areas where the traffic is light. The bike trials in New England have far more hills and turns. The whole area is paved and the surface is in absolutely great condition. Hardly any made bumps or nasty holes to make you fall off your bike and smash your face. Again, I'm use to the paths in the north where the frost heaves and buckles the pavement every winter. This was such a pleasant and smooth ride and the miles just seemed to fly by and the ride over far too quickly. The path goes through some populated areas and crossing the streets can be a pain but it also means that you pass some places to get food and treats. There are even some water fountains and bathrooms on the path and lots of benches and cool spots to take a break or look around. Very convenient and all the folks that we met on the path were friendly and extremely nice. I didn't notice any areas that made me fear for my life. The scenery in many parts was beautiful with funny looking trees and plants, small lakes and many types of birds. We even saw a big tortoise crossing the path in one point. Someone we talked to along the way warned us about gators occasionally crossing the trails but unfortunately we didn't see any of these. I've heard that eventually they plan on expanding the path and connecting it to other trails to make it much longer. That would be great but like the rail trails here in the north east, such plans usually take a lot of time and money. At 14 miles the Seminole Wekiva Trail is still one very pleasant and enjoyable ride.
