We moved into a new house which had 15-year old film on all the windows that had started to peel and looked really bad! I called a few tinting companies in San Francisco and I'll say that out of all of them, Bay Tint was by far the most professional. We had Ben come look at the work, and I felt like he was up front and honest from when he first walked through the door. He was incredibly knowledgeable, explained what was going on and made a few recommendations (fixing the affected windows or replacing everything). We had a mix of tinting and privacy film. The quoting process was excellent. Maria was super responsive over email, the actual quote broke down the costs by task (removing the old film, new film install by window and materials), so it was easy to understand and trust. Ben turned out to be our installer too, and I'll say this: I generally have anxiety with contractors in our home messing up our finishes, not respecting our property and creating problems. Ben was tremendous. I work from home, and he worked around my schedule easily. He was incredibly quiet, clean and tidy. He communicated clearly on scheduling and was on time. He's a really nice guy (I really enjoyed talking to him about his favorite projects and learned a bunch). And he does exceptional work: the windows look amazing. It was almost hard to believe how easy it was to work with Ben on our graffiti mitigation project. It was my first time tackling window graffiti, it was quite difficult to figure out that budget and find providers able to remove it. I ended up working with two different removal companies because one dropped me. Throughout the process, Ben was available, helpful, and flexible. When I had to pause the process for a month, he had no problem applying two panes of glass protection and coming back some time later once I was able to have the cleaned panes ready. His can-do attitude helped my confidence in navigating a tricky project. His prices were on the lower side of the quotes I gathered and I appreciated the pre-cleaning he did. What a great experience it was working with Ben and Maria and Bay Tint! Would recommend them to anyone and everyone. Our house is south facing so we benefit from great sunlight all day long...which is why we don't have curtains in our living room or street facing den. But...that also means that we've had to deal with furniture, hardwood floor around rugs and artwork on the walls fading over time. I've thought about getting our windows tinted years ago but thought it would be 1) too expensive 2) not big enough of a job for tint companies 3) would darken/lessen the amount of sun during the day. Boy, was I wrong on all 3 counts after talking with Bay Tint. I called their number and left a voicemail. Ben called right back and we discussed my project. He said the project size wasn't an issue (I had since included doing the back bedroom windows and patio french doors as they also get tons of sunlight) and to email him the size specs to start a quote. Maria emailed back with details about what different tints/film options were available and really educated me about the differences of UV light, glare, heat, light, infrared etc. and what causes what problems. She also made a recommendation based on where I lived and what my goals were with the window tint. Their estimate was the lowest of 3 companies I spoke with and their availability and knowledge made me feel like I made the right choice by going with them! We set a date, Ben arrived early and ready to go and after a quick review of what he was going to be doing and showing me the tint film he would be using he got right to work! Needless to say, the work turned out great! And as Ben mentioned before starting the work, some people won't even notice that there is a tint on the windows. We are truly happy with the window tints throughout the house and feel confident in buying some new rugs, furniture and artwork. They were friendly, attentive, informative and willing to answer all my questions throughout the project. I've already passed their info to neighbors and friends. I'm writing this as Ben is here installing our window film. These guys are fantastic - prompt, friendly, competent. After coming from an awful experience with another provider (see my review on Star Glass for details), I was relieved and thrilled from the start when I received a return phone call within minutes. Ben was personable and smart, and understood instantly what I wanted - part frosted film and part anti-graffiti film. He came by a few hours later to take a look and to check my measurements, and in person he was still efficacious and easy-going. When I received the quote back the same evening via email from Ben's counterpart Maria, it was professional and detailed. Every cost was clearly split into separate materials and labor, and it wasn't missing anything. If you've ever dealt with contractors before, that is a HUGE win! One day later, Ben is back and installing our film. I could tell he was detailed oriented and exacting, carefully measuring and checking with us when he had any questions (should he remove stickers, which line exactly did we want to match, etc). Big points for being a clear communicator and reliable. I'm thrilled with our choice. After dealing with another entirely incompetent vendor for three weeks, I bailed and came here. In three DAYS we are done, for under half of the cost of the other fools. I couldn't be happier with my decision. HIGHLY recommended all around. read more

He apologized, looked at the windows and gave me an informal estimate. Later on, I got an email with the "official" estimate and it was quite higher. We hired Ben and the folks at Bay Tint for a very difficult job. The windows in my office downtown arched into a skylight, and on those rare warm San Francisco days, our conference rooms were turning into a sauna. Ben recommended a solar reflective tint that has provided a great deal of relief from the heat on sunny days, without making our office too dark on those far more frequent foggy days. On top of the great work, they have also been a pleasure to work with. Always friendly and helpful, always professional and courteous. There were delays getting the work scheduled, due to estimate software snafus and the company being swamped with a large order, but they discounted my job to make up for this. They did an AMAZING job with windows that had three layers of incorrectly applied film on them from other installers. You can't even tell film has been applied and that's how it should look. I wanted to wait for the frosted film on my window to dry before I rated this company. Sure enough, the temporary appearance of faint streaks disappeared just as Ben assured me they would. Despite his busy schedule due to the demand for his service, Ben made time in his very long day to schedule a frosted film install for me in a kitchen window. My partner and I had considered doing it ourselves. But after looking at the cost of the materials, the hassle, and warnings of how easy it was to screw up something like this we decided to look into having a pro do the install. I'm glad we did. Ben was quick and efficient and the finished product looks better than I hoped. Ben also identified an area where the window was leaking and caulked it for me--no extra charge. Now I have diffused light coming through a perfectly frosted window that I previously hid behind closed blinds in order to block my view of the unremarkable exterior wall next door, and to block others' view of me from two upper decks.
