We are very pleased with the professional landscaping backyard results performed by Bay Stone Landscaping @ our Castro Valley home. The project included removing a legacy brick patio and lawn area by laying down natural flagstone, all of which now offers a very organic look with earthy shades of rust, grays and greens. They also reinforced our existing tiered decking structure, replaced decayed deck steps and designed and constructed a new 12' x 12' Redwood Pergola and a parameter bench back seating area. The project was completed in two phases and took two months to complete. In summary Bay Stone Landscaping exceeded our expectations and below are a few additional comments as it relates to working with the Bay Stone Landscaping Team: DESIGN: Isidro Gonzales is a very talented landscape designer and owner. He took our initial thoughts and desires, combined it with his vision and experience and in doing so created a spectacular new Pergola and Flagstone landscape design for us (as referenced by the attached three pictures). BUDGET: Isidro Gonzales was very open and flexible throughout the setting and the establishment of our landscape budget which consisted of two phases (Flagstone and Pergola.) At the completion of the project, Isidro actually provided us with a significant project discount. CONSTRUCTION/ONSITE TEAMS: Isidro's overall work professional work team are phenomenally skilled in all what they do. These workers have all worked for Isidro's company for years and it showed in how effectively and efficiently they all performed within their specific roles. I also want to mention all of the terrific carpentry work Jesús did in building our Pergola and new parameter back seating area; his meticulous detail to construction perfection was amazing. Furthermore, all of the Teams leave your property completely organized and immensely clean on a daily basis. COMMUNICATIONS / PROJECT FOLLOW UP: This is where the company has proven their commitment towards delivering Superior Customer Service. Any project is going to have follow-up and/or communications issues after your project has started. Although, no worries, Isidro and his Team were able to mitigate and resolve all issues quickly and efficiently.

The stone patio, rock wall(rebuilt), and raised beds and retaining wall

Ivan and the Bay Stone team are fantastic. He is reliable, communicative, thoughtful, and experienced. Ivan had an understanding of our vision and provided direction as well. Easy to work with and hard working Ivan is trustworthy and followed through completely with the plan and went overboard to make sure we were happy with the yard. Our stone patio is intricate, tasteful and beautifully fits together like a puzzle. The grass is great and we even got an upgrade on our irrigation. The raised beds look great and the retaining wall is sturdy and foundation is deep. We also got a side pathway done with leftover stones and gravel. Ivan is a great guy who's work speaks for itself but he is always available to talk and give professional expertise. He knows everything about landscaping. I would give Ivan the highest recommendation to anyone looking to get the job done, your way, with beautiful work. We will most definitely be using Bay Stone Landscaping in the future. Thank you Ivan and associates!

This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!

Recently, we had them to a full conversion/remodel of our backyard from awful weeds to nice natural grass, with an irrigation system, mulch, and tasteful plants. I was amazed with both how well it came out, and how affordable the project was! I would HIGHLY recommend using Dago Garcia's team for either regular yard maintenance, or any yard project you have in mind. Dago has decades of experience and knows exactly what he is doing- he is super friendly and helped us with great ideas. Give Dago a call!

4 stars for quality work. 0 stars for ethical business…read morepractices I hired Melvin and George from La Económica Landscaping after receiving a written estimate from their coordinator, Cindy, for work that included: * Garden clean-up & hauling - $1,375 * Mulch + small brick installation (combined) - $650 Total: $2,025 And a recurring monthly maintenance fee at $200 The crew did a nice job with the clean-up. Their labor and craftsmanship were good. However, the way this business operates is extremely concerning. Even though the scope was clearly defined both verbally and in writing, the owner later tried to change the terms of the estimate, claiming parts of the agreed-upon work were "mistakenly included." Throughout the process, there were multiple "gotcha" moments, surprise clarifications, shifting explanations, and attempts to downplay what was originally promised. Despite the written estimate explicitly listing a "mulch + small brick installation (combined)", the brick installation was never completed. When I followed up, they claimed it had been a "mistake" in the estimate and refused to honor that part of the agreement. Communication became defensive, taunting, and unprofessional, and rather than resolve the situation collaboratively, the owner sent a $300 refund before we had even reached an agreement, then canceled my ongoing maintenance service altogether. It's disappointing, because the work quality itself was solid. But their business ethics and communication practices are sketchy. They seem more focused on short-term profit than building long-term relationships or standing by their written commitments. They told me the brick feature would enhance the look of my garden. I guess I'll never find out. If you decide to hire them, make sure every detail is documented and signed. Otherwise, expect last-minute changes and confusion about what you actually paid for.

My backyard patio was already landscaped, but it had a small koi fish pond that I was trying to get rid of. I didn't want the fish, it was creating mold/attracting mosquitos to the water, and the pumps took up a lot of space. So I wanted to remove it completely while still maintaining the overall landscaping to look continuous without the pond. Additionally, I wanted my fence to be reinforced and repainted. What sounds and looks like a relatively simple task was actually quite hard. They had to demo the concrete while saving the pieces so they could re-use it later. The floor tiles had to be matched as close as possible. Ultimately, his team worked really hard over 3 days and did a great job. It would never be perfect, but they did a great job maintaining the look so that it wouldn't be noticeable unless you were paying attention. Good experience!

I highly recommend the services of his team! He's definitely my go-to for all my future landscaping work. Thank you so much, William + team!
