It's no more than a mile from the 4th largest lake in Wisconsin, castle rock lake, and they have a nice bait shop that's open 7 days a week from 7a-7p. There are a few golf courses near by, snowmobile/ATV trails right across the street and even airsoft/paintballing 1/2 mile away! There are a lot of activities around the site as well volleyball, playset, horseshoes, custom made basketball hot shot and our favorite, sitting around a nice bonfire and seeing all the stars. The place is on a residential street, and laid out like a standard motel with all doors facing the street. We ended up liking the fact that staying up here let us enjoy a lot more of the lake than we would have if we stayed in downtown dells. - Ambiance: Our room had a kitchenette and couch, which was great for hanging out with friends and playing games. The kitchen was stocked with classes, bottle openers, utensils, etc. - Bed: I slept extremely well. One con: There seemed to be sand on the floor (had to keep wiping my feet off). From the beginning, my communication with the owner Mike was prompt, courteous, and professional. When I arrived, he was there to greet me, and my private room was cozy, clean, and included some refreshments -- a welcome creature comfort after the 10 hour drive! I shared a bathroom, but it was clean, spacious, and had more than enough clean white towels for myself and the other guests utilizing it. Not to be outdone, Sue made a delicious breakfast in the morning. I enjoyed fresh fruit salad, eggs Benedict, and homemade blueberry muffins. I was super stuffed by the end, but didn't mind a bit! The cherry on top was when I had to leave early to drive home (to the tune of 5 AM). Mike woke up and made me a to-go cup of coffee for the road.
