You pay for what you get. In our situation, booking 3 months in advance for the 2-day 4th of July Holiday when rates will be at a premium. Our Priceline Pre-paid price for 2 nights was $169. Pictures attached pretty much describe our dinky room. 1. Our beautiful view of the bay from the bathroom. Unfortunately the fan didn't work so our exquisite views were horribly limited. 2. A mirror over the sink designed for short people. The mirror is functional as it does reflect just fine. You just have to bend over. 3. A circa... perhaps1972 gorgeous vintage chair most likely refurbished with gorilla tape...perhaps in 1994? I now realize I could have paid a bit more and reserved that luxurious "queen room with sea view" and even gotten a bit more space to walk around the bed. Check-in went smooth. I walked in the small lobby looking for a bell but there is none. Within a minute a dude walked in and gave me an actual metal key. The dude is also the housekeeper and seemed to be out of breath. But he was a nice guy. There was some gagging and coughing from someone next door. Other than that, the main noise was from cars and trucks along highway 101. Thankfully, there were no drunken fights, screams, known drug deals or cops called during our 2-night stay. So why the 2 stars when honestly nothing really went wrong? I suppose I expected a bit more. No...not more like Days Inn or Travel Lodge quality. But a bit more like maybe consider the clientele doesn't value that vintage 1970s taped up chair? The room smell was just...creepy. Like a bad smell where no spray is going to work. Actually, that is why our room doors were open when we arrived LOL. Or maybe consider re-setting the bathroom mirror so anyone over 5'7 doesn't have to bend over? Oh yeah...when you sit on the toilet it reminds me of sitting on my chair in 1st grade. My guess is that this is a vintage toilet from the late 60s. Entertainment: You could probably take a hike up to the top of the McCullough Bridge and watch a ship pass under the bridge or maybe the Coos Bay Railroad swing span bridge that rotates 90 degrees to allow 3 trains-a-week train traffic over the bay. Grub: Hilltop House is nice, but I haven't dinned there since the 80s so take caution. Moms Kitchen is a better bet for breakfast or lunch. Be prepared to wait... If you can't wait, then I suggest the Pancake Mill. read more

Reading other's reviews left me wondering whether I'd made a mistake booking a room for a week. Answer? A resounding NO! This small roadside inn was perfect. Other reviewers seem to be expecting an upscale modern motel such as a Ramada or Hampton Inn or the like. THAT IS NOT WHAT THIS IS! When I traveled with my parents in the 60's this was exactly the accommodations we stayed in. The Bay Bridge Motel is absolutely NOT a motel. It is a roadside inn and IMHO the owners are missing a bet by not advertising it as such. The only thing missing is a parking lot full of classic cars. (I tried to help by bringing my 40 year old Porsche.) And the view... OMG, the view. The room rates? Let's just say that they were extremely affordable and that there's an espresso kiosk right over there. We WILL be back! read more

I love this hotel!!! Is it dated? Yes but they have started the slow process of of remodeling which we all know is very expensive. Our room is large with a fridge and microwave. My bed was so comfortable and I'm use to a heated, waveless waterbed. I slept soundly. The view is killer. Right out on the bay. Every room has a great view and can watch nice sunsets. The grounds are well cared for. I've stayed here one other time and was fortunate to get a reservation. They book up quick. I'll be back because it's a great place and the staff are very friendly and helpful. read more

We were visiting the Pacific Northwest and stayed one night at the Bay Bridge Motel. The owner was very friendly and helpful. This place was very affordable, clean, and had nice linens. Also, it is right on the bay, with wonderful views. Not what you would expect with the price they charge. It is evident that the owners really care about this hotel. Nope nope nope nope nope. My tastes aren't fancy, and I usually enjoy a good little cheap motel, but this was beyond what we could accept. Yes, the view is nice and the location is handy. But... We stayed for two nights last spring and had to stay in two different rooms because they were struggling to accommodate other guests. The first room had a nice view out the back window, but smelled funny (gross) and had someone else's old food in the refrigerator. When it came time for us to switch rooms (the staff had asked us to and we had kindly agreed), we couldn't find anyone in the office to let us into our new room, even though we waited patiently around on the property and near the office for a while while we had our coffee and breakfast. So we went out on our daily adventures. When we got back, they had moved our belongings to the other room without us, which felt like a minor violation of our privacy (especially since we had made a good-faith effort to move our belongings ourselves that morning). We went to the office to get our keys to the new room, and they couldn't find the guest keys to it, so they gave us the housekeeping keys instead. The new room didn't smell funky, which I guess was nice, but also was smaller and didn't have any view (unless you like to stand next to the shower and look out a tiny bathroom window, which I don't think anyone does). But the biggest dealbreaker came later in the night - as we were sleeping in the bed, OTHER GUESTS TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO THE ROOM. Not only had the office told the other guests that this was their room, THEY HAD ISSUED THE ROOM KEYS TO THEM. If my spouse hadn't latched the door from the inside as well as locking it, they would have gotten in WHILE WE WERE SLEEPING. After a bit of a shouting match (the other guests were also surprised by this turn of events), they went off to the office to find other accommodations. This experience was not worth the few dollars we saved by staying at this particular motel. We really enjoyed exploring this part of the Oregon Coast, but our nights at the Bay Bridge Motel were absolutely the low point of our trip and we would not risk staying there ever again. read more

This is our second stay here. Oldie but goodie so if you are looking for luxury go elsewhere. If you are looking for funky retro fun this is the place. We believe they are remodeling. Our room was large with a fridge and microwave. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Those are two big pluses for us. New TV was very good. Loved the view of the bay from our little table. It is bare bones so bring your own glasses if you want wine in the evening. Excellent coffee at the coffee Kiosk on the property. read more

I would give zero stars if possible. I was assigned three different rooms upon my arrival before I was given a room that wasn't already occupied. I left my pillows and blanket in that room and headed out to ride the sand. Upon returning I realized the curtains in my room were closed when I had left them open. They assigned someone else that room too. So another trip to the office and I finally got my own room. This room was filthy. They had shampooed the carpets and the floors were wet. There were cleaning supplies and trash all over the room. The bathroom was especially dirty. I went back to the office to request a clean room and they were closed for the night. I went into town and stayed somewhere else. This place is terrible and I would not recommend staying there. The staff was inappropriate, yelling at each other and fighting in front of guests. read more

We made reservations through Expedia and had a confirmation number but when we checked in the front desk had no record of it and left us stranded without any room. No apologies, no manager on site, and just shrugged their shoulders. It might've been a blessing in disguise as we found a much nicer motel for the same price closer to town. read more

We've stayed here several times because all we really need is clean sheets and a shower. However every time we come the interior seems to get worse. So you be the judge. Let's be purely objective... Grounds are well kept. Exterior of the building is well maintained. Rooms are about 3-400 sq ft. Doors do not have security latches. Curtains still have the creases from coming out of the package. They cover the glass but not the window frame. They do not offer full privacy. This time our carpet has been melted and is frayed. Bathroom has had a new GFI put in but the wall is unevenly repaired with small holes. Bathroom tiles are intact, grout is clean. Toilet has a round seat and came with one of those cute paper bands to tell you it's been cleaned. Queen bed with clean white sheets and 2 fuzzy blankets but only 3 pillows. Flat furniture surfaces are missing finish and are water damaged. Arm chairs are visibly soiled and stained. I wouldn't sit in them. Cable worked intermittently. Floor mat around the toilet Staff seem really nice. That's not objective but it is important. I give it 2 stars for the staff, clean sheets and the price. NOTE: We were told we were upgraded to a view roomAll of the rooms overlook the bay. What a crock. Update...just folded back my sheets to see a burn in the fabric. So much for clean sheets read more

Please remember that 3 is not bad. It's average. A-Ok. What I liked: the hotel is super convenient. I was in town on business and this was a perfect spot. The view out my back window was fantastic! No doubt the full moon added something, but I loved being so close to the water. It was a reasonable price. The person who checked me in was friendly. The room was clean and comfortable - enough. I'm not fancy. This worked for me. What I didn't like: it was noisy. I wasn't in town on vacation. I had to get up and work in the morning. The people next to me - both nights - were loud. They weren't partying; it's just the walls are thin. In addition to the room, I could hear traffic all night long. Not the hotel's fault, but I was sad the coffee hut in the parking lot wasn't actually open. read more

The place looks fine from the outside but wait until you try to sleep there. The room I was in smelled like an entire Shriner's convention had been smoking in there for the last fifty years. Despite the "no smoking " signs plastered everywhere the entire room is pervaded with the smell of ten zillion stale cigarettes. And you can't just open the window and try to air things out. I did that and it did not work. And since I had to leave the window open to avoid gagging I got treated to the noise of big rigs downshifting on the 101 which goes right by the motel. I did not sleep a wink. Not to mention the general seediness of the room that has a carpet completely frayed and cigarette burns on the curtains. The owners need to spend some money ripping out the stinking carpet, drapes, sheets and blankets and STOP living off the general decay of the place. Yuck. read more

Don't waste your time or money. If I could I would give less than a one star rating. I was scheduled to stay at this location this past Wednesday and Thursday nights. I had made a reservation through a trusted third party source. I had received confirmation details and communicated with the establishment of arrival time and received confirmation from the location. Upon arrival, I thought it peculiar that a child would at the desk. He messaging must have been coached because before I could even get the words from my mouth that I had a reservation and confirmation he was directing me to another property. Having been on the road for 12 hours, I was ready to stop for the night. The kid hollared for his Dad to come out and when I explained to him that I had made a reservation and had a confirmation and that someone from Bay Bridge Inn acknowledged that they had received my message of arrival time I was informed that there was no record of my reservation, confirmation or any communication. I left disgruntled. The only redeeming quality was that the booking service that I used found me an alternative substitute and agreed to pay the difference what it was going to cost me because the place they found for me was more expensive than Bay Bridge Inn. Additionally when the third party service contacted Bay Bridge Inn they admitted that they had overbooked. Really!?!?! To reiterate, don't waste your time or money. It's not worth the aggravation. read more

If I could give this place a zero that's what I would do! If we could have gotten our money back and gone somewhere else we would have, but not possible so we were stuck with this aweful room. Frustrating from the moment we walked in. The heat doesn't work so you have to use a space heater which thankfully they had in the room. There was someone else's pizza crust left over on the floor. The toilet didn't flush unless you held down the handle and that wasn't even a promise. The TV was a joke... never did figure it out. We had to sleep backwards on the bed otherwise all the blood would rush to your head. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to get a comforting room!!! read more

The hotel is conveniently placed right on the edge of the water, and away from other hotels. When I first walked in, the room smelled a little weird. Like either musty or like strong cleaner. The bathroom was made for a toddler...based on the toilet only going to my knee. The bathroom only fits one, and barely that. The fan in the bathroom was also broken. They did have a good sized tv and a decently comfy bed. And the front desk lady was very nice and quick at check in/check out. read more

Cheapest room in the area. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to show up at the front desk (she'd gone out for lunch). Right on a busy stretch of 101, loud traffic. Horrible mattress. Glimpse of the bay out the bathroom window (Room 1). A loud drip from shower head, unable to muffle. Maintenance man decided to use leaf blower right outside our window for what seemed a ridiculously long period, just after we arrived and we're trying to nap. Friendly staff and convenient location, but bed sunk horribly in the middle and the sheets felt damp. The ONLY reason I ever get a hotel room is to get a good nights sleep after camping around, so the fact that the bed was horrible puts this low on my list. The only bay view was from the tiny bathroom window. Hot water took a long time to come through, and it was hard to regulate the temp after that. Toilet ran continuously. It's 11:40 at night, the people in the room next to us have their TV blaring. The walls are paper thin. The bed is soft and saggy. People stand in the driveway and smoke at 11:45 pm while apparently talking to their deaf friends as loud as they can. I'm guessing they're tweezers from all the activity of people coming and going. It is right on 101 so you hear the traffic. I called the front desk but noone answered. I will sleep in my car on the roadside before I stay here again. read more

First off the girl that cleans rooms poorly need a lesson on humility and how to talk to people falsely accusing me and my friend of smoking in a room when we both and even the people in the room next to ours were outside all the time smoking then her bf/ manager comes over to smell the room and I told her we weren't smoking in the room she began to mock me and make a lisping because I'm gay in her head discrimination thanks and after telling them there were bedbugs on the mattress she asked why we wanted to stay another night in another room if we had bedbugs so I guess they have bedbugs on all beds in all rooms according to her so I would recommend getting this place condemned PS after further review I believe these to be bedbugs not ticks read more

I explained I lived here previously and was now moving back. They then said that since I was a local, they could not allow me to book a room. Will never do my business with them, ever. I stayed here in October of last year and enjoyed the bay view. The rate was very reasonable and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The room also had a kitchenette which I did use. The dishes, pots and pans were all in need of washing and the freezer unit hadn't been defrosted for some time. Given the price was very affordable and the location handy I would certainly consider staying there again. read more

If I could give it zero I would. I had a reservation on the 29th of this month for my 12-year anniversary. Upon getting there I was greeted, using that term loosely, by a gruff lady who informed me very rudely, " did you not get a phone call or did you not check your phone?" Due to the fact that she was two bookings over and she had no rooms. she then informed me that the lady at the city center motel was holding two rooms for her to overbookings. I asked her if the rooms over there would be the same price, to which she replied they would be the same price if not lower. Needless to say I didn't get a room at either place, but the other review falls on City center. however the lady here at the Bay bridge should have known that the price on the other rooms were almost double, either that or they're in on it together. I understand that with online reservations things happen, but the rudeness and rushness of it all just really rubbed me the wrong way. read more

Long story short: they have the office open whenever they want and steal people's money. DO NOT STAY HERE. NOT AS GOOD DEAL AS IT SEEMS. We came all the way from portland, Or down to coos bay for a mini vacation for Valentine's Day. But we ended up leaving a bit late (work) and it was a longer drive than we had thought, so on the email from booking the room it said check in was from 2pm - 10pm; totally fine, and it also said if we needed a later check in to call and let them know. So it hit like 9:15 and the gps said at least another hour, so I called the motel and let them know- she was totally nice and said the check in actually lasted until 11pm. But things happen and it hit 10:40 and arrival said 11:10, called the motel again - this time NO ANSWER - thought it's gonna be fine she probably wasn't near the phone. She knows we're coming right??? Wrong! We arrived at 11:10 as the gps said and the office light was off but someone was obviously there... we knocked on the door and rang the bell - NO ANSWER. Fuck. So we started walking toward the car when we noticed someone peeking through the blinds and quickly close them and ignore us! I already paid for the room - probably won't get a refund. Also we ended up going to the quality inn down a bit further, and the lady at the desk even informed us that WERE NOT THE FIRST PEOPLE THEYVE DONE THIS TO! Apparently they close the office whenever they want and did it to a couple that had come all the way from Brazil! read more

This has to be the worst and most disgusting place I have stayed in my entire life. We attempted to stay here for 3 nights back in February while house hunting. When we checked in, the lady working put us in room 15. She said "some guy is requesting room 15 but I don't like him so I'll give you guys that room". We get to the room and the ONLY other guests in the hotel for the night is in room 14 right next to us. Our room totally smelled like raid Yuck! And we had to air it out. We decide to let it slide for the night we can live with it. Next thing you know we wake up in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT to the TWEAKERS next to us playing ONE SONG on repeat for 4 hours straight. Once that finally stopped, they continuously open and slammed shut the microwave for another hour and a half cooking meth or something. It was a total nightmare. They finally shut up around 6AM. We know that the lady working deliberately put us into Room 15 RIGHT NEXT TO THEM. in the morning we got our money back very easily from the guy working the front desk and he mentioned that the tweakers have been living there for 7 months and they have had many complaints about them but they won't kick them out because it's the hotels only consistent income. I guess the lady that put us in that room didn't like us because of our California ID. After we got our money back we went to the Lakeshore lodge and stayed for only $4 more a night and was a complete opposite from the nightmare people call the Bay Bridge Motel. If you have any sort of self respect or standards. Don't stay at this horrible place. read more

Fantastic view with rooms set up to take advantage of it. Cool bridges to look at and drive over. The woman who ran the place was VERY friendly, and called me several days after I'd left because some mail I'd asked her to look out for had arrived. But there was no tub, and the shower drain dropped abruptly an inch or so below the rest of the stall floor, which is slanted towards the drain, so my feet kept sliding into it. I was surprised I didn't turn an ankle while showering! The road noise was loud, (it is off the 101) and the walls and windows too thin. The first night I was treated to an obscenity laced argument from the couple next door, the second night and the following morning I kept hearing the same room's occupants moving in and out. read more

What a joke ! I stayed last year when the old manager was having a stand off if you will ....... Locked herself in the apartment and the new owners were trying to figure things out!! Looked past all that tried to call to make a week reservation the man told me 250 for the week so I call back the next day to confirm ( and to let her know we made other arrangements for our dogs because dogs are not allowed !!!) and when I told her the price I was quoted the day before she told me no way she would honor that rate and claims she has no idea who I talked to???? So believe all the other bad reviews and just drive by this place it's a JOKE!!!! And honestly believe they should not even be in business ! read more

This is a darling little motel with a great view of the bay. It brings you back in time. Our room had an old fashioned kitchenette that was awesome. The room was clean and smelled fresh considering the motel has been around for a long time. The owners were very welcoming. Conveniently located to town and to the sand dunes. This is a very inexpensive and older motel. Having grown up in the area, I remember it always being there and I'm nearly 68 years old. The motel has an wonderful view of the bay and is located at the north end of McCulloch Bridge over Coos Bay. It's been fairly well-maintained over the years. Check-in: Made and paid for reservation through Expedia. They didn't have a record of the reservation but they were dealing with a new computer system. They were able to give us a room with a bay view for which I had paid. Staff was very pleasant. Room: Like stepping back in time. The room actually had 2 bedrooms with one looking out over the bay. The room smelled fresh and clean. There was a 50" TV with cable, free wifi, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The walls appeared to be freshly painted. Bathroom: The shower was very tiny. The shower and floor had old style ceramic which was in excellent condition and clean. Standard amenities including soap, shampoo, and an extra roll of toilet paper. The bath linens were clean, fresh, and unstained. Bed: The mattresses are obviously very old so that would be my only complaint with the room. The linens were clean and fresh. We had a good night's sleep and the motel was quiet and peaceful. Perhaps they can update the mattresses at some point in the near future. I have no problem recommending this motel. read more
