Sensei Mike and Papa Frankie (and many other colored belts) are all excellent professors. Overall an amazing place to learn and train on your journey. Everyone is friendly and supportive. During live rolls I've seen the black belts correct mis-behavior which is a good sign. I recently moved further away (from Pacifica to Millbrae) and made sure to map out how far it would be to the Cave. If you are interested in starting jiu-jitsu, or already experienced and want to find a new gym, I whole-hardheartedly recommend The Cave.

She has an incredible ability to read the room, adapt the class seamlessly, demonstrate each movement with clarity, and challenge students with care. Her corrections are always gentle yet precise, and you truly feel seen and supported in her classes. Honestly, I wish I could be permanently enrolled in her sessions. The overall atmosphere is calm, motivating, and deeply positive. Claudia, along with the students in each class, creates a peaceful and encouraging energy that makes the experience both grounding and uplifting. Her creative use of equipment adds variety and depth to every session, while her constant attention to posture and individual needs reinforces a strong sense of safety and personalization. What truly sets her classes apart is the consistent focus on technique, safety, and individualized progression. Each exercise is thoughtfully adapted to respect your body, limitations, and personal goals. The variety of equipment allows for dynamic, ever-evolving workouts that build strength, flexibility, and body awareness without feeling repetitive. After just a few Pilates sessions, I experienced noticeable, life-changing improvements: better sleep, significant relief from lower back and calf pain caused by long hours of driving, and an overall feeling of being lighter, stronger, and healthier. I used to wake up in the middle of the night thinking my mattress was the problem, only to realize that my body simply needed the right care and guidance. After some months my life really changed with Pilates Claudia has positively transformed both my body and mind. If you feel tired, heavy, or disconnected from your body, I cannot recommend her classes highly enough

It was a pleasure speaking with the head instructor -- he was extremely friendly, professional, and welcoming. The school has a very positive atmosphere, and everything appears to be organized at a high professional level. I can confidently say this is an excellent school for children and families who are looking not only for martial arts training, but also for discipline, respect, confidence, and personal growth. They had a lot of different obstacles set up that help to not only burn off energy for high energy little kids, but also helps them to learn how to better coordinate their body by kicking things the right way, jumping over things, and rolling safely. On top of this, they are being taught the values of listening, focusing, and respecting authorities. Class is twice a week and the students collect different colored stickers as they learn new skills. After all stickers have been collected, they get to test to see if they are ready to move up to the next belt color (every 2 months if you regularly attend). It felt like a family environment with even the parent of the different students knowing one another and being friendly in conversation. A great business that I would recommend!

Good thing we lucked out and ended up at Motion FMA! She was interested in taking Jiu Jitsu, and he was interested in taking Muay Thai. So, like any commitment-phobic people, we bribed each other into taking both classes. (Yes, they have both! And now more!) The BJJ classes are well-structured with both drills and sparring, extremely practical, and definitely did not need us to already be hella fit just to get started. The Muay Thai classes are great for cardio and, let's face it, some serious frustration-management ("f***in boss!" LOL). Everyone else in the classes is also super welcoming, which definitely makes it easier to start something new, as well as says a lot about the community they've built. We were super stoked when they started the Stick Mobility classes, and have now been trying to get everyone and their moms to join us. We tell them, it's like fun yoga, with the after-feeling of a massage, set to 80s music. The great thing about Martin and Jyn is that they really know how to adjust the teaching based on your learning style, experience, and ability.
