Came here to take the GRE for grad school applications. Easy to find with google maps. Super close…read moreto Oakland airport. There was ample parking right in front of the entrance. Bathroom is clean and spacious. The lockers are kind of small. I brought my work backpack with my work laptop since I wasn't going straight home that day. I had to squeeze it in. There's also hangers if you want to hang up coats and any garments. Before you enter the test room, they have to scan you like you're at the airport. Same if you need to go on bathroom breaks. Originally they assigned me a seat that was right next to the window and sunlight was coming into the cubicle and it would have been super distracting and burned me. I told the staff to please assign me to a different seat because I'm sensitive to sunlight, and he told me I just have to sit where I'm assigned. I insisted again, and he said I should have requested accommodation. I told him, "I'm the one paying for this test, and sitting in this seat will make me uncomfortable." He conceded and assigned me to another cubicle furthest away from the window. While I'm glad he finally complied with my request, I don't understand what was so hard about reassigning me to another seat, especially since the original seat would have been a detriment to my test-taking experience (a test that I had to pay out of pocket too. This guy wouldn't have his job if it wasn't for test-takers like me). When driving into the parking lot, there's a slope that made my car jump, and I screamed "WTF?????" When I left, my car jumped again when driving down that slope, and I cursed some more. But hey, I got into my dream Master's program at my dream school, Brown University!

Once I started studying on my own I quickly realized I was going to need some help. I knew from the first call to Idea Tutors that the service was going to be professional and reliable. In every session we focused on important test taking strategies and content in a way that prioritized the concepts that could give me the highest increase in my score!

I was enrolled, didn't have a job, solely working on my LVN. They announce who scores high and I…read moreget called out. This drove people to bully me. I placed my concerns to the higher ups and they didn't do anything about it. I pointed out people cheating, using their phones during exams. To lose my career as a LVN, paid so much, because this school cares about money. Not fairness, not bullying, not even my mental health. I cried so many times. One of my other classmates (practically a doctor in the Philippines) got bullied out of the program. I reached out how furious I was because she's so sweet, but all they said is "we will take care of it". They didn't. We had a teacher Ms Mikayla who was degrading and none of the students liked her. The reason I didn't is because I personally want to use my clinical hours to actually be at the facility, not studying for exams. All the instructors who do clinicals cut off our times to go back to school to study. The nurses at our first clinical questioned why we leave so early. All of this I pointed out to higher ups. Watching all my bullies (Jessica, Gianna, Vitoria, Ernesto) on instagram have the opportunities I lost. Made me break down and cry. Some people shouldn't be nurses. Don't bother attending here.

Sylvan Tutoring Center is the worst tutoring center among the four I have enrolled my two kids in…read morefor past 6 years. Sylvan has the worst make-up policy and is overpriced. I thought I paid for one-hour lesson, but the teachers end the lesson 15 minutes earlier than the lesson schedule. The 15 minutes time period is the waiting time for students to get picked up. Sylvan also forfeit your lesson if you missed a lesson. that means they will charge you for the lesson your kid didn't attend. we as parents, already are stressed so much for our daily expenses, but when our kids need help on their homework and school assignments, we send our kids to tutoring. One of my younger kid's parent persuaded me to enroll my kid in Sylvan because she could get some referral lessons once I enrolled. We got the 500 hours package because the price is a bit less than regular price. There are regularly 2-4 kids per 45 minutes lesson. My kid don't get much actual help in one lesson because she needs to share lesson time with other kids. We still have some purchased lessons. I won't renew after all purchased lessons are used for sure and definitely won't refer any of my friends to Sylvan. Sylvan entices students for a prize or gift to ask their parents to write good reviews on the internet.

Going into the bootcamp from a remote environment, I had the mindset that it would be both…read moreoverwhelming and difficult to make friends. While the remote experience was a little strange at first, it became very comfortable as the class continued on. The classes were run well with little to no technical difficulties, and I found it easy to create a regimen around the class that helped me balance the classwork with life in general. Yes, at times it was stressful, but there are a number of resources available (including your soon to be classmates/friends) that will help you progress. Taking breaks and doing things outside of coding is a big part of bouncing back. Since many projects were group projects, it was easy to get to know some folks in my class right away! My cohort was fairly large and consisted of many outgoing characters who I began to cherish the more I worked with them. GA is one of the most rewarding experiences I've had in my life and I hope that anyone who is interested in a boot camp strongly considers GA for their experience as well. A special shout out to Kenny Bushman, Michael Petty, Yulia Tsernat, and Adonis for being such a wonderful instructional team!

No longer a public facing school, now they just teach AI courses to businesses and "enterprise…read moregroups". It has gotten much more difficult for these kinds of institutions to give out incorrect hiring info and get away with it. Like giving out info that x% of students went on to be employed even though maybe 90% of those folks are working gig jobs or in restaurants. I checked this place out long ago for UI and no one there could give me hard numbers on how many students went on to employment in that field. It was just one big sales push. One young woman told me we could "go to a private room and talk about it." It's probably easier to give incorrect info without witnesses. At the time they emphasized on their site about how many pizzas you would eat while studying there. That was a big red flag. $8k-$14k buys a lot of pizzas.

I haven't…read moremade it around to enrolling, but what I have done here is attend as well as volunteer for events, including a mini event of couch assembly. In addition to language classes, some things that happen here are dance and music performances, movies, dinners, end-of-semester skits, traditional seasonal celebrations (Chuseok, Seollal / Seolnal), and just celebrations in general. The seasonal open houses are cool because different rooms are set up with ongoing activities such as calligraphy, food & drink, coloring, traditional board games, crafts, getting your photo taken wearing a hanbok, and more. Exploring the rooms will have you moving up and down among the floors of the house. So if you're here with family or a group, you might want to bring your cell phones to more easily figure out where each person is. In any case, once the food breaks out, sooner or later everyone can be found downstairs.

IIC offers many levels of Korean, helping you find a class that's just right for you. I jumped in…read moreat Beginning Korean II, but the transition was easy. The instructor is very attentive to each student's abilities and to the flow of the class. For a once a week, 3-hour class, the cost is only $420 including the cost of the textbooks. That's a big draw-in! The only rough patch is that different instructors teach different classes, and they may vary from semester-to-semester. So you may end up with an instructor less motivated. But at this price, it's worth the gamble. I really enjoy the class, and the classmates too. It's a fun, easygoing atmosphere. So far, the class has been going on for several weeks, and no one has opted out! Instead, people show up early to get some cramming done!

My two daughters started to go to UpGrade since they were in elementary school. I love that the…read morecenter director has a systematic way planned out to focus on different writing types, one at a time, then to debate, then to publish their own story, then to college essay writing. They do group different grades of students together in a class, but it doesn't matter because students are of the same level. When my two daughters started, there were older kids in their classes but they didn't need to catch up ever. My younger daughter is now in 10th grade and she just finished the presidential debate project recently. My older one is now a college freshman in a university across the nation. She's a Posse Scholar with full tuition covered for all 4 years. She's also accepted to the UCs she applied including UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI. Writing has never been a struggle for her and I'd give credit to UpGrade for giving her a strong foundation!

I really wanted to like this learning center. The staffs/tutors there are very respectful, helpful,…read moreand friendly to the small children. They are mostly high school students. My kid really liked Shu Lin, but as a parent and our need for learning center is education. Reading & Math Subjects: are from an App that has reward points and your child can use that points to play game. You can purchase it at home. Most parents want the Writing subject, but they NEED to sign up for Reading & Math in order to sign up the Writing. For my 3rd grader, I felt this is fine because he has much to learn. It should be an option for student with strong Reading and Math skill. Writing class: 2hrs long with a small break. She's teaching grammars, definitions, descriptive words, sentence structures, and above all those, taking note (I really love this about the class). My biggest drawback: She has too many students in one class, all from different grade levels. 5th graders+ have much faster to learn concepts and this unfair to them or maybe unfair to 3rd graders. My 2nd biggest drawback: there is no feedbacks for their writing assignments. Feedback is most important for kids to learn. Overall I feel that she just jams all students in one writing to collect money. She obviously can divide the class base on their grade/age level throughout the week. I really hope Shu Lin can improve on these: feedbacks, class base on their grade/age, and give option to students base on their assessment test (also because she's teaching grammar in her writing class). As a parent, what degree you hold doesn't matter as long as you can teach with humble and kindness.
