Other contractors wanted us to redo the entire porch, but Bert suggested a more conservative option of redoing only the really bad areas and touching up the rest. He and his crew were super careful to make sure dust didn't get into the house, covering all the windows and porch with plastic before they got to work. Bert also fixed another part of our brick pathway that was sunk lower than the ground level and made it look good as new. This involved shoring the house, pouring all new foundation and retaining walls, and expanding the walls and framing. Overall, Mick (owner) and his team's work was thorough and detailed, and I would recommend him to other home owners, and consider him for my next project. 1) Mick (the owner) was the most thorough in bidding compared to other contractors. He came to the house multiple times, brought subcontractors to look at the job, and ultimately gave an estimate that was competitive and had my confidence. 2) Mick was one of the safest and most punctual contractors I have met. The work would start at the exact time every day, the work site would be thoroughly cleaned each day, and there would be high emphasis on safety (hard hats, signage, etc) 3) Mick had to communicate with an architect, three engineers, and a variety of subcontractors and he handled that very well. He was always a step ahead in seeing upcoming problems to resolve. 4) Mick was at the job site and worked with others himself each day! I have to add at this point, that this unit is in a rental property and we are landlords who were unable to be on site at the time our tenants brought this to our attention. Laurie, a super communicator and troubleshooter, comes to the rescue. She has a few things to ask the tenants to look for, identify and test. She narrowed down the problem all via email and text. Once the inop part was identified, it was ordered. As soon as it arrived, Laurie called our tenant directly to make an appt for installation. Between Laurie and our (fantastic) tenants, they pretty much took care of things between just the two of them . . . all we needed to do was provide payment. This is so, so appreciated and valued as landlords who were unable to be present at the property at the time. Btw, I also have to add that our tenants had nothing but great things to say about Laurie's communication and the installation visit as well - - - on time, efficient, neat, polite and very courteous. From initial inquiry to repair, all was done within a couple of weeks. The epitome of efficiency.
