I could not allowed to speak to a Doctor about my oxygen tank. The Doctor recommended using compressed air, by way of a plastic hose on the edge of my nose. My problem is the hose kept falling out of my nose while I slept. I know that there are different mask for the oxygen, but the nurse would not even listen to what I had to say. When I called to talk to James or Dr. Eckardt his nurse would not allow me talk to them. Instead she played Doctor, telling me that I had to use the oxygen that went into my nose and that I should tape the hose too my face so it would not fall out. She said that they could not do anything for me and that if I do not use what they prescribed he would probably have a stroke or heart failure and die. I called four times and she would not let me talk to the Dr. or James. Just too bad. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. Very poor. read more

The Doctor didn't send my script to Pharmacy after 2 weeks. I tried his Ma and got no response. I found another Doctor and received prescription same day. This office is way overcrowded to give personal service. I recommend a smaller office to go to- you'll be able to actually talk to your Doctor. I have been seeing Dr Sarata MD or James PA, they both are very positive and kind and knowledgeable and explain a good treatment plan and don't rush all the front desk. Staff was very helpful. I would definitely recommend them. read more

After my visit Dr. Cerretta, he left the office while I did one more short walking test and never came back to let me know how we were going to proceed. He told me to wait there for him after my test. Instead the nurse in the hall wanted to know why I was waiting in the office and then told me he checked me out! I left with a bunch of paper work but no discussion with Dr. Cerretta as to what the procedure would be. Next I got oxygen sent to my home with no instructions to anyone. Two days later I sent a portal saying I had some questions (actually a lot) His response was I spent in hour with her and don't have time to talk to her. Got the same answer two days later. The portal nurse was useless. Now they tell me that I can't go to anyone else in their office or even to into their office. I was a little mad after awhile but never cursed anyone out or screamed at anyone. Extremely unprofessional. I'm 85 yrs. old and hever had an experience like this n my liftime. read more

This is the worst medical office I have ever been forced to visit. They care absolutely nothing for their patients. They are disorganized, always behind, some staff are surly. The first doctor I saw, Masson, was late, but this was the first time so I did not know it was a chronic practice problem. He said to come back and see him in a year. He did not look at my medical records that were in the Baycare system which this office has access to, and so did not know that results from a CT scan in 2020 indicated there should be a follow up CT scan. I set an appt for a year out. Two weeks before my appt, this office called me and said the Dr was cancelling my appointment because he had something else to do. I set another appt, which was several months out, and again, the office called me and said the Dr was cancelling my appt because he had something else to do. So I said just schedule me with the PA or NP. So they did. First appt with NP was relatively on time, only 20 minutes late. The NP did look at the Baycare system records for the 2020 CT and said we need to do a follow up CT, I also brought up other information and he wanted to do a home sleep study. Later the CT scan the NP ordered showed there were some concerning issues with my lungs per the radiologist. At my follow up appointment, the NP was with the same patient before me for over an hour while I waited in a room. While I waited, some male patient was allowed to wander the halls outside my room and opened the door to my exam room twice, and started to come in once. Finally after being over an hour late, a medical assistant came in and said did you bring the CT scan results. I said no it's in the Baycare system which this office has access to. Then NP came in and said he had looked at the CT, which was a lie, he had not looked at the CT or he would have talked about what it revealed. He then heavily pushed getting a sleep apnea machine and tried to scare me about the supposed results of the home sleep study. I felt like there was a salesman greed there. He spent 4 minutes with me, after spending over an hour with the patient prior. He never once mentioned the CT results. When we left the room, that same other male patient wandering the halls was still wandering the halls and came after the NP because he wanted him for something. When I went to check-out, I was told the waiting room was filled with people waiting to check out. Meaning it would be about an hour to be able to check out. I ask the check out lady why is my time so unimportant? I have to get back to work. Going to this office requires a vacation day they are so incompetent and disorganized. So I walked out, having already paid my copay on arrival. Several weeks later, with no prior email or phone call, they sent me a package in the mail. They purposely only put two stamps on it, so when it arrived, the post office said I had to pay $5.46 postage. The thing is I have no idea what it was due to the atrocious communication from the office, so I refused it. I have already found a different pulmonologist and will be moving my records to them. If you value your health and your life do not go to Bay Area Chest Physicians. My experience was they could not care less about you, it's all about them and not about the patients at all. My opinion is they are just greedy money hungry doctors. They have practically a monopoly on pulmonologists in Clearwater FL. 11 doctors at this office with this kind of terrible terrible medical care. I have a very complex medical history and was not getting the care I needed with another group, in 2014 I found myself in the care of Dr. Masson after a serious medical event that resulted in quite a long hospital stay. Dr. Masson cares for his patients in a way that makes you feel like you are one of his family members. From the front desk to the back office and everything in-between everyone at Bay Area Chest provides paramount care. I just cant say enough about the entire team, they provide a level of care that cannot be matched. Dr. Eli Gavi gets the top award for Best Pulmonlogist in Tampa Bay area. If this were possible, he would be stepping out on the red carpet because this doctor is outstanding. I read his reviews two years ago when I was looking for a pulmonologist for my 90 something mother, and the words that resonated with me was compassion, patience, and brilliance. After watching him care for my mother these past two years, dealing with her many health issues, I must amend those reviews to include he is a doctor who is truthful and doesn't hide the full diagnose (which many doctors do with elderly patients). He trusts that his patients want to know the truth, because only with an open and honest discourse, can a patient and their family focus realistically on a treatment plan. Dr. Gavi is prompt and when you are with him, he is 100% with you, not hiding behind the computer screen typing notes. I requested all of my mother's records the other day and was surprised (not really) how detailed his notes were after each appointment, yet he never typed while with us (unlike so many doctors who enter the room, and open the laptop and start typing without making much effort at eye contact). He is a doctor who is conservative in his approach for the elderly, their comfort and quality of life is what matters, but he has a brilliantly tuned intellect that equally thinks outside the box. He gives you all sides to a treatment, the pros, cons, and everything in between. Since we started with Dr. Gavi, my mother has had two life-threatening medical conditions that landed her in the hospital (heart failure). Even though Dr. Gavi was not making rounds at the hospital, once he was contacted that his patient was in the hospital, he came to see how she was doing and consult with us. I wish the cardiologist making rounds did the same. I don't know if I left a review for Dr. Gavi before now, but if not--this is what I want to end on. I recently had a visit with Dr. Daniel Orlando. I found him to be caring, attentive, and very knowledgeable regarding my sleep issue. The staff, as well, were very efficient, and I noticed the cleanliness of the office environment immediately. Clearly the office is taking extra precautions as well concerning Covid. I have been trying to get my husband an appt here for a follow up to legionnaires disease. I am limited to where I can go due to having Baycare Cigna and I have been calling this place for several weeks now. No one calls you back, you have to keep calling and fighting and all they say is your case was reviewed by the doctor and is not considered urgent so you can wait 2 months to get an appt! When someone has legionnaires pneumonia and has a recent CT scan done and still shows active pneumonia and is still having complications that he never had before and you dont consider this urgent to be seen? Let me ask, what do you consider urgent? You tell me that since he wasnt in morton plant hospital he doesnt qualify for a hospital follow up since he was seen at St. Anthonys? That is still Baycare and warrants a hospital follow up NOW, not in June. He has had extremely high BP that he had to start medictaion for, chest pain, severe headaches, left side pain, extreme PTSD and anxiety. This makes no sense especially to treat a Baycare team member as if they arent important enough to be seen urgently. I asked to speak with an office manager and you have a team lead call me instead. No one in this office has explained anything to me and to say we understand its urgent to you but its not urgent to us- that is so upsetting. This makes absolutely no sense and I am an office coordinator for a PCP office and I know that this is not acceptable treatment from a medical facility. Anyone can get worked in for something like this. I cant tell you how many times my office has had to do this. I'll find someone else to help us but you need to work on your access to patient care urgently. This is a problem and stop acting as if you don't care. Don't tell me you'll receive a call back by the end of the day and leave me to have to call the office back 3-4 days later. You all need to understand the fear that patients and their families have when something like this happens. I find it so hard to believe that out of 12 physicians here no one would make time for this. Completely unaccepatable for a medical facility. I hate when people post complaints on the internet but after this experience and no one listening to us, i can understand the reason for it since you just keep getting pushed off time after time, its extremely frustrating and anxiety causing when you worry that someone you love could have a heart attack or stroke due to these symptoms and no one cares. No one in this office cares about you. They are all too busy and they arent afraid to tell you how many calls a day they receive and you dont matter at this time. each time I needed an appointment it was way too far in the future. More important I went there for a sleep problem and the doctor castro was very nice. The office staff was not at all pleasant to deal with. After a long wait - 5 weeks for an appointment I showed up about 18 minutes late due to traffic. They said I needed to reschedule.I took off from work for this and need the doctor to issue a prescription. I was scolded as though I was in kindergarten. They said there office policy was 15 minute. Obviously patient care is not a goal, its just a medical claims mill. How many insurance claims per hour can be rammed through the system. And this was 8:30 in the morning and the waiting room was completely empty. In short , their time was valuable but my time and medical needs was not-- Definitely find some other place of quality read more
