Went to Dr. Monge for help and I explained this when setting the appt., but at the appt. his nurse was measuring my neck and when I asked why she said it was for CPAP. I told her I had used a CPAP for a year with no relief and that wasn't why I was there. Dr. came in, asked a few questions, said I needed to go to bed earlier and don't sit down during the day to keep me from falling asleep. If I'm on computer or reading to stand at the counter, then come back to see him in 3 months to see how it's working! I'm 73 years old with bad hips and knees, don't think that will work long! Total appt. lasted 10 or 15 minutes. Wrote him a note that I was disappointed and got a letter that I was fired from the practice...broke my heart...NOT! Waste of time and money.

Dr. Monge's office assistant calls us from waiting room. Asks series of questions and asked to see data related to my husband's CPAP Machine, which he shared with her via phone link. My husband stated again, I'm here to see Dr. Monge for my Pulmonary Fibrosis Primary Diagnosis, which you appear to be confused about. The assistant denied this knowledge. My husband said "The Pulmonary Fibrosis is going to end my life without appropriate medical intervention. My CPAP machine is secondary with no issues". Assistant left the room, then returned telling us that since we had seen another Pulmonary doctor in the area and they couldn't assist or participate in his treatment plan! I replied can't or won't help him? We were asked to leave. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! I've worked 15 years in medical prof and never such an encounter nor incompetence. Take good notes or record your visit like I did.

Actually the second or third time I've been here but never noticed it on Yelp. Anyhoo: this is…read morewhere I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years back. They have their own sleep lab on the first story of this hidden two story building off of Belcher just north of NE Coachman. After all the formalities were observed with a rather extensive team of medical and office types here, I was prescribed the appropriate sleep equipment and so on. I don't like that I have to use the stuff, but since I must, I can't think of a better MD to deal with than Frank Averill. He's a bit eccentric but he is also a very good and well seasoned pulmonologist. He's assembled a good bunch of folks (and it is quite a big number in the team) to work here. As you can imagine, this practice is quite busy and thriving...I wouldn't expect you'd fare well here if you're in dire need of quick service though. As most specialists go, he books out well in advance. As is also the case with specialist types, forget about the clock when you finally DO get here. Pack a lunch or a snack instead! Nice office with a clean but homey look to it also. Sleep lab is also quite nice as I recall as well. One odd bit of information. The doctor's wife also has a big hand in this place and helps run the show. She is a devout Catholic and that is obvious in every nook and cranny of the office. Lots of religious statues, pictures and the like in the second floor office and downstairs in the lobby. Off to the right of the entrance downstairs is a full blown chapel as well...I must tell you that the formal name of the practice is St Francis Medical Institute. So the chapel and much of the "decor," for lack of a better word, is Franciscan. It really has no bearing on the level or kind of care that one should expect, of course. It's a simple observation for the sake of passing along information to the prospective patient reading this review... That said, Dr Averill is board certified in four different specialties according to the information gleaned from my visits here. Allergies, immunology, sleep disorders, pulmonology plus all the clinical research kinda makes this practice one stop shopping for many people who have breathing battles of sundry sorts....

For me, I need them because of my obstructive sleep apnea and my insurance demands it. I feel their care and expertise is second to none. The office staff is friendly, but certainly way too busy. When you get to your appointment, make sure to manually tell the front desk people that you are there for your appointment. There is no sign in sheet and there are no instructions posted anywhere up front which would alert you to their procedures for check in. I certainly urge them to at least put up a sign that says something like, "Please check in with the front desk upon arrival." That would eliminate a lot of confusion. Overall, they are professional and friendly and are a good choice for pulmonary care if you need it. Check them out!

I don't know why Dr. Offices cannot hire just one more person to answer phone calls? It is nothing but greed! I will have be going to this office just to cancel an appointment! So I will first type up a bill to give them for the cost of Gas, Mileage, and time wasted, because they have a really crappy automated system! This goes for Millenium too! Yopu cannot get ahold of anyone, so I always have to go to the office if I need to get anything done!
