Baxter's Painting. Well recommended. Chris Baxter repeats, "Your House will be a thing of beauty for years to come".
Reality my house showed wood through paint at 3 months. Cracking of paint over front door and around house at 6 months. Paint chipping on backdoor at 9 months. Uncovered windows and screens however still have spots. Chris Baxter's response to concerns, "DUH, it's wood".
Paint Consultant evaluation is that job is shoddy, amateurish and unprofessional. Lack of proper preparation shows in bumpy appearance on fascia boards. Wood appearing and paint cracking from lack of or limited use of primer. Questionable use of paint from other projects as undercoat. While wood on this type of siding can begin to show through it is usually 2-3 years for sub grade, 3-5 for average and 5-7+ for good work. Failure to protect windows etc shoddy and amateurish.
Consultant recommended having another person with homeowner to write and/ or review contract. Separate inspections and sign off by owner before each stage. Check paint for brand, date and sealage before signing. Check preparation. Check for primer. Note that a strong coat of primer is almost always required. Check first coat. Check final coat. Check clean up. Do not pay till satisfied.
