First, this is a HOSTEL. Not a hotel. As long as you keep that in mind, you will be very…read moresatisfied. They have low rates. I paid 28 Euros for three nights. You can't beat that. They charge a deposit for the sheets, a towel, and a padlock, but it is returned when you return those items. Nice hot showers, but there is no shelf or anything (inside the shower) to put your soap/shampoo/etc on when you are showering. Outside the shower, there are no hooks to hang your clothes on. The shelves that exist are too small and placed in inconvenient locations. That is super annoying but not a fatal problem. I also had a problem with the temperature of the water changing, hot to very hot to lukewarm to hot and so forth. But it's much better than cold so I can't complain. Beds are just standard bunk beds, but it's nice that they have a small shelf, a small nightlight, and two electrical outlets next to each bed so it's easy to plug in and recharge whatever you need. Checkout time is 11 am, however checkin time is 4pm, which is kinda late but it's easy to just hang out in the lobby until checkin time. They have a nice small bar with reasonably priced drinks. Laundry and internet computers are located in the lobby also. Small fee for either one. WIFI is free, but really really bogs down between 8pm and Midnight when dozens of people are connected, it gets slower than dialup and becomes completely unusable. Stick to using the WIFI outside of those times and you should be fine. I don't like the fact that you have to "like" the hostel on Facebook in order to be connected to the free WIFI, that seems like a sort of pathetic grovelling to me. Likes should be reserved for things you really DO like, not things you are forced to like. Don't even think about trying to do filesharing on their internet, you will get kicked off the network and blocked. Considering the limited bandwidth this is an excellent restriction. Very nice convenient location, there is a U-Bahn station very close by and there is a supermarket (ALDI) and a liquor store within easy walking distance. The staff is very nice and helpful. They all speak excellent English, and will help you out with anything you need. Make sure you ask Freddy to play you some of his 80's music collection. All in all, an excellent value for the money.

It was so slow, and the receptionists were so chatty with other hostel guests they could barely focus on my check-in and kept forgetting I gave them extra money for towel deposit. Room. I stayed in 4 bed dorm. My guest mates were so loud, it was so hard to sleep. One of them was a smoker who got up so frequent at night to smoke and open the door, making the room cold. Also my guest mates were stinky, unlucky me. But also the bed was sooo uncomfortable. The cleaning of the room appears questionable too. This is not a quiet hostel. Everyone stays up late and you can hear them talking from the lobby at night. Also this place is next to Berghain, a 24hr party rave club on the weekends, so you have a lot of people staying here to go to this club. The bathroom was actually decently clean. However, there was no hooks on the shower walls so it was hard to put your stuff anywhere. Location, 10-15 minute walk to transit, a little inconvenient. You need to rent bikes is the best way of transportation.

Huge and very clean. The bathroom/shower was really great, felt like a minimal hotel room. Our room was very warm however, an although there was large windows there was no airflow. A fan would have been ideal. The reception is great, really pretty decor, bar(with happy hour) and pool and games tables(2). The breakfast each morning was €5 each and was buffet style. Really good spread, cheese, meats, fruit, cereal, yogurt, eggs, coffee and herbal teas. This was extremely good value and sets you up for the day of playing tourist. 2 things I dislike about the hostel is its location. As a tourist I found its location pretty sketchy. The u ban is a 10 min walk away and from there until the hostel you have to walk on a very dark long road and then through a high rise housing estate. I would not have felt comfortable making this journey alone or in a small group late at night. After 10 at night you must use the side entrance which walks you through the hostels smoking area which as a non smoker is a really unpleasant welcome back when you've had a long day of huffing it across the city. There is also a guy who sits outside the hostel all night reminding people to keep the noise down, I *think* he's a security guard from the hostel, either that or a concerned local neighbour. Just be aware that he may jump out on you if your talking too loudly coming home. He gave me a bit of a fright! Lol

The beds are a bit lumpy but who needs to sleep when you are enjoying some of the best clubbing on the planet? Whatever you do don't accidentally wonder in to the flower shop close to the street thinking its the hotel because the shop keeper must've have had to deal with this mistake one too many times! One of the GREAT things about this spot is that it is right around the corner from one of my favorite spots in Berlin...Panorama Bar.

Unfortunately if I'd known it would also come with the customer service and cleanliness of a Soviet hotel pre-reunification then I might've looked somewhere else. The single rooms themselves are reasonably sized and are relatively clean, however the walls are paper thin. If you like the sound of your neighbour getting her rocks off to the latest motown hit single by Marvin Gaye or alternatively perhaps the Turkish dance party in the room next door you weren't invited to at 3am this place is definitely the perfect destination for you! Smoking indoors is definitely not allowed but complimentary as are the numerous dirty stained towels left discarded in the bathrooms. Please note: there is ONE communal bathroom for each floor only! This means that when there is someone else's blood/crap/etc on the toilet seat the cleaner withholds the right to clean it up. In Soviet Germany, toilet cleans you! Perhaps I'm expecting too much, Berlin is a party city after all and I'm all out of party. The wifi was average (don't expect to get it outside of the reception area downstairs) and the lack of a social friendly "atmosphere" does remind you that you were perhaps a little ambitious booking a kitsch hostel in for two weeks.
