What's the point of making an appointment and CONFIRMING, if they are gonna be 30 minutes behind. Not a single person walked up with an update or an apology. Might as well just do walk ins at that point. And that's fine, everyone runs behind (an apology would have been nice rather than thanking me for my patience!). But the main reason I'm writing a negative review is after finally getting seated, I find the chair and counter station is full of hair and dirty from the previous client. The stylist isn't prepared and disappeared again to grab the steam machine! So not only did they rob me of my time but after patiently waiting, they robbed my experience. I didn't feel comfortable and lost trust in the cleanliness of the entire place because what else is rushed at this point! Absolutely unprofessional and disrespectful to other people time. read more

The few times I've come in I have been blown away by the care and respect the barbers have for each other, their craft, and the customers. The atmosphere is high end, giving clients a space to relax from their busy lives and feel treated and pampered, something everyone deserves. There are services for everyone, my guy friends have mostly gotten haircuts, but are greatly interested in experiencing a beard trim & lineup. I've been coming to Baus for the last 2 years with Tori! Highly recommended. Tori is very detail-oriented with her fades and is consistent with my haircut each month. She's also friendly and great to talk to. The only reason I have to find a new barber is because I'm moving. I like to do a mid high fade starting at a 0 on the sides and back, with the top disconnected on one side and connected on the other, parted to the left. read more

I just had my appointment cancelled by Baus because the stylist, Leah, went home sick. This is the fourth time I've tried to get my hair cut here, and ended up having a poor experience. The first time, i showed up 10 mins early and wasnt seen until 15 minutes after my appointment time. That happened 3 times in a row. The last time I tried to get my hair cut, Rochelle was 20 minutes late getting to me. The haircut was fine, but its as if nobody cares about wasting the customers time. And now today, Leah goes home sick according to the receptionist... whatever. IDK what exactly happened to this place. It didnt used to be like this. Maybe the management is slipping or maybe theyre understaffed... either way, it shouldnt affect me if im paying $50 a visit for a simple haircut. read more

I'm getting so tired of going into a barber salon with a picture of what I'm looking for, only for the person cutting my hair to glance at it for a second, then completely forget it. What's more, they forget the specifics I pointed out from the picture and just create whatever similar cut they're comfortable with. If you're asked to replicate a cut from a picture, why would you not prop the picture at the mirror in front of you so as to be able to reference it throughout the cut? This only makes sense to me and is what I would think anyone would need to do to replicate something exactly. But stylists never do it. Unfortunately, I again had this disappointing experience. This time with Christina at Baus. To be clear, the cut I'm asking for is not complicated. It's a pretty basic crew cut that I like with a low taper as I like to have a little length to mess up on the sides at the top. I bring in a picture to show just that and make a point to tell her exactly what I'm talking about, yet Christina takes the clippers way too high so I'm left with the high taper almost military look that I hate. Much shorter around than I asked for and certainly much shorter around than the picture I brought in. To add to this, I get home and find she took a chunk out of my hair with the clippers at the back of my skull (pic) read more

The location has a modern masculine style which is probably a lot cooler than I am at this point, but still a very comfortable environment. Vibe checkers, throw out your checklist, you won't need it. Made an appt with Dani online for a Saturday thinking it'd be quiet, but I was pleasantly surprised this place was POPPIN. Since recently moving to Detroit from small-town Florida, I tried some places before this but didn't find a fit. This team knows what's up and you can tell how much care they put into their craft. From what I saw, this team is tightly knit, and adds so much life to the shop. if you're looking for drama-free and a friendly face, Baus should be your go-to. Straight up on the cut: To be honest, I went in with my hair looking like a cow-licked mop after a couple bad cuts at other shops. I told Dani exactly what I wanted as far as guards/type of cuts, and she immediately asked follow up questions to make sure we were on the same page before she started. Dani kept tabs on everything, asking about length before cutting, if the water temp was too hot, and gave me tailored recommendations in products for me to use in general. This is my second review for Baus. They not only earned 5 stars but also my loyalty after my recent visit. I can suggest this place and Tori to my friends and family with 100% confidence The sequence of actions taken right after my previous review speaks a lot about their customer service (customer obsession would be an apt term). Daniella immediately sent me a message like a true responsible owner and assured me for a better care next time. Honestly thats all I wanted and that's the end of my expectations from them (to my surprise they went way above and beyond) I was amazed by how much everyone, who interacted with me, were aware of the details in my review. They were hell bent on making things right with me even though I gave Daniella prior assurance that I will be a recurring customer just for Tori's expertise with my hair alone. They made it pretty clear they are more interested in gaining my trust rather that my recurring business I got an excellent haircut from Tori as usual and was already amazed by their service but, they again went above and beyond, took care of my bill, offered me a gift bag as an apology for my prior bad experience. In fact, I'm from the Miami area and barbershops and fades are life down there. My hair fade is a little tricky to do since it's Asian hair but Tony knocks it out of the park for me. I enjoyed my haircut here but I was appalled by the lack of masks. The staff was not enforcing masks to the customers. It is not hard to cut hair with a mask on, all other barbers do this. This just shows the lack of care and empathy the management has for human lives. I reported this business to the MDHHS. Talent here used to be amazing. Now all the stylists have some flaws. I've been coming here for two years and sadly won't anymore unless they change up the talent. Some stylists more than others RUSH the haircut to the point that they are speeding thru and thinking they are professional but are not. My last haircut was painful and too fast in cutting speed. Don't let the upscale neighborhood fool you and be sure to pack a lot of quarters because this place is worth the wait for the cut you get. I heard of this place from a youtube video and really wanted to try them. So after waiting for a good month and a half to let my hair grow out a bit from a mistake of a salon stylist, I booked an appointment. The drive stunk for sure because I probably live 30-45 minutes away from this place but it's well worth the drive for a fantastic cut! I sat with Mason and let me tell you, the guy is an artiste! You ask for a basic understanding of what you're going for but also leave it up to him to make his professional understanding of hair and such and the man becomes a finely tuned machine. He knows how to work men's hair. In 45 minutes, he gives you the freshest cut that exceeds expectations. I walked out beyond satisfied and will probably go back. The only downside is in fact, the neighborhood. The parking meters only take coins so, bring those quarter rolls!!! read more

This place is completely unprofessional. My husband and my son have been going here regularly for at least a year. My husband booked appointments for both him and my son on 11/11/23. My son went first. My husband was waiting for the next available stylist. A man walked in off the street and handed the receptionist cash and bumped my husband in the line. The lady makes an excuse that they thought my husband's appointment was on weds not Saturday which is ridiculous because they would have caught it when they showed up for the appointment. They told my husband that they didn't have time for him any more that day when he had booked the appointment in advance. So they allow people off the street without appointments to cancel your prescheduled appointments. Do not go here. The quality of the hair cuts isn't even good for this type of unprofessional service. Also, would this have happened if my family was Caucasian? I would give this place zero stars if possible. I had no issue until this happened. This is completely unacceptable. read more
