Great haircut, great conversation, great atmosphere. A little "hole in the wall" type of place to get your haircut across from the Polish center. I passed it twice the first time I went here unfortunately because it surprised me coming down the road and then I picked the wrong driveway to turn into. Oops! Parking lot needs some work here though, so don't go speeding through the parking lot because there's some big holes. Inside, this place reminds me of mechanic garage. There's diamond steel everywhere! When I checked in, I knew I was going to have a good experience. I put my name in, chose the haircut experience I wanted (which included a hot towel and neck shave). When I got called to sit down and get my haircut, walking through the hair cutting area was pretty cool. Like I said, there was a lot of diamond steel in the building. One thing in particular that I thought was cool was their station that had their scissors, clippers, and other items. The items were stored in a workbench/tool cart. It seemed like there were air tubes hanging from the ceiling too that replaced hair dryers. I didn't see any of them in use but they were hanging from the ceiling in most seats. All in all, it was a great overall experience and I got a good quality haircut with some great conversation. It felt like they actually cared about my haircut because I wasn't in and out in less than 10 minutes. read more

It's hard to find a decent barbershop that consistently delivers a good cut. Luckily I found JJ's shop and I haven't lookd back. Their staff is friendly and no matter who you get, male or female, you are going to appreciate the fresh cut. Their are also pretty knowldegeable and have experience with various styles. Over the years I've asked for several styles and they almost always get it right. There was only one time that I got a bad haircut but that woman no longer works there and my next cut was free so it's hard to argue with them. The pricing is $16 per cut unless you ask for a specific barber usually....since covid you get who you get.... There are additional fees if you get a shave or extra products so very resonable overall. Plus they have a few locations across metro detroit in case you find yourself in a jam. read more

First time at JJ's and i must say i am impressed. High quality cut and they followed my request to the T. I had a breakup with my former barber of 7 years (i am 25 so thats a long time) and was very skeptical of going to a new barber. I tried a few places and always ended up doing touch ups on my own to make it better. Finding JJ's was great for me. Although i have only gotten 1 cut there, i plan on going back and i am hoping for a similar result. Will update post upon next cut. I had Caleb. Cool guy and made good small talk. my first two visits were good but the 3rd time I had a guy who did not know what he was doing, I asked for a 1/2in off MULTIPLE TIMES and he is talking about so I took 1 1/2in off completely disregarded what I said and Doesn't give me a fade like I asked and puts a huge line in the side of my head so I had to have someone come fix it and they still kept the lines in my sides and couldn't fix it and still charged me for a full cut and all of this right before the holidays thanks! read more

Have been going there for 6 years has been sitting in the chair for 2 hours and 30 minutes waiting for a haircut. People just called in while I was sitting there and got ahead of me 2 hairdressers understaffed. Takes 30 mins to shave someone's hair that's really short. A firefighter came in with like 3 mms of hair long to have it dyed wtf you can't do it yourself? What's the point of dying it you are just making the line longer But seriously if someone has been sitting their for 2 hours and 30 mins to get a haircut and someone just called 10 mins ago and came in something is messed up. What makes a barber shop good ? Not the decor or the magazine or fancy tees for sale but just a good hair cut. JJ's offers a contemporary version of an old school barber shop: as you walk in your feel like you've walked into an industrial shop with its metal like ceiling and metal plate lining along the base wall. The waiting room has plenty of magazines to read and a few tees on sale. The cut: This is what it basically comes down to. Since JJ's has two 5 star reviews I decided to skip going to my barber (since he was closed) and give this place a shot. I am used to having a good conversation with the person that cuts my hair whether it be about the economy or just about the current state of affairs and the girl who cut my hair just lacked that zazz. The conversation was forceful, dry and monotonous. The cut was just average and basic and definitely not worth the $15 (plus tip which I hate when they ask if you would like to add anything to your card instead of just giving me a receipt with the space for tip). I highly recommend JJ's Barber Shop for anyone who is looking for a new place to get their hair cut! The staff is very talented and walk-ins are welcome. Even with no appointment and a busy lobby, the wait has never been longer than 15-20 minutes for me. I have been going to JJ's for over 20 years and I have never had an issue with my hair being cut wrong. They keep track of how you have gotten your hair done in the past so new barbers can get an idea of what you want. And they always make sure to ask how you would like it even though I get the same thing every time. And a walk-in standard haircut is only $15! That is a great price for how fast and well the barbers cut your hair. If I could recommend any specific barbers, I would say Danielle and Mike are amazing! But they are all great! :) read more

Well here we are almost 30 years later & Mike is doing the family proud keeping the barber shop's local reputation as the "BEST PLACE TO GET A SHARP CUT & TOP KNOTCH FADE" Every barber/stylist in the joint consistently proves that you've come to the best with every cut given. I don't give praise unless it's earned. I don't give bad reviews unless it's due either. This 5-Star review comes from one critical person. It takes a lot to get that from me is the bottomline. Went here for a haircut, first time since October. The way my hair was cut, this had to be there worst haircut I've ever gotten. I would've been better off cutting it myself. I told the woman exactly how to cut it too, and she still didn't do it right. Very disappointed, I only went because someone recommended last time I listen to them and return here. I'm really picky when it comes to barbers. If you don't cut my hair right the first time, I probably won't come back for another cut. One of my buddies told me to check out Jj's. He told me to make an appointment with Joel. He is a really nice guy and knew exactly how I wanted my haircut. The only problem is that he is only available on Wednesdays because he runs the other location in Novi. One of my other buddies told me to make an appointment with Mike. JJ's is the only place I get my haircut now. I used to go anywhere. Tried a couple places. Just wherever. That's all changed. I set an appointment at JJ's and only JJ's. It's not pretentious like many places you can find a good cut. Actually it's the opposite. This still feels like a real barbershop. I go to Joel for my cut and he's awesome, but they do this cool thing where they keep records of what type of cut you get and they'll give you a discount if you schedule your next appointment with whomever is available. I've been going to JJ's for about 5 years now. I'm very particular when it comes to a haircut. I live out of state now but make it a point to visit JJ's everytime I come back to Michigan. Mike is the man, great conversationalist, best fade around, all around a very cool guy. I usually pay the extra 3 bucks to set up an appointment and request him.
