I just spent a most enjoyable evening at a charming restaurant and bar in the historic downtown area of Springdale. Our party had a large freshly baked soft pretzel presented with a dip and a variety of German sausage, pickled carrots and onions and of course, German potato salad. We had mimosas (I had a LaCroix) I also had a beer brat with German sauerkraut that was so good! My wife had a knockwurst and I also got to eat half of hers. Excellent. This is a charming place and Daniel and Steve Hintz are wonderful hosts. Daniel and chef Jennifer Hill Booker are business partners and brother Steve Hintz works the intimate bar. If you are in the Springdale arts district, you can't miss this place. It is painted in a spectacular mural by Octavio Logo, an up and coming artist now in New York City. read more

One server was the "bartender" and she was fun to talk to. The other server was the authority on German food and drink, knew his stuff. Two notes on the beer: the drafts are crisp and the selection is good, and they have a fridge where you can buy your own beer and to my knowledge the curation is better than most liquor stores around here. We were instantly welcomed in the door by a friendly man who gave us menus and asked what we'd like to drink. Who doesn't like that?!?! After a long bike ride the pretzel charcuterie board was perfect: salty, soft doughy pretzel combined with 4 sliced meats, two diced cheeses, delicious pickled veggies, homemade beer cheese sauce and homemade spicey mustard! Mmm...just posting this makes me want to go back for more! The picnic tables under large shade trees was perhaps the best part. It was a hot day, but the breeze under the trees was just perfect. Amazing selection of German beers. The pretzel is very good, the pickled vegetables have a great flavor with a little kick to them, the sausages we've tried are extremely tasty, and the homemade mustard is amazing. The employees are great along with the service. They also have tables games which our daughter loves. read more
