Yo Battlefield Houston was super dope! If you are a big kid like me, you will take pride in a good game of laser tag. Not just any laser tag, several rounds of combat laser tag! I recently took a solo trip to Houston and did a quick search on one of my favorite past times. Battlefield offers a variety of games and time slots. Up to 50 players ( Im assuming pre pandemic) battling it out. Since I was a walk in (with an online reservation), I was able to play with the refs. No one was there! It was still pretty fun. Oh yeah....and fun for the kids too. Highly recommend. For the price you can play 1.30 to 2 hours and really get your money's worth.

Arrived at 5:35 for an hour of lazer tag, after checking in I was told to wait 10 minutes for the next game, so my 9 year old and I poked around the old arcade machines for a while until we are prompted to a black room / pregame holding area... This is where we got excited as game time was close. Five minutes pass, ten, fifteen, twenty-five (!!!) nothing. Now we are just standing in an empty room with 6 other people. No seats and no info. One of the other groups decided to go see what's up, turns out they forgot about us (lesson learned: speak up). Once inside I was surprised by the lofty maze like structure, it had climbing ledge, ramp, plenty of corners, barrels and windows to hide behind and shot from. Think worn out Gotham City. It was pretty cool. The employees were helpful so I quickly forgave them for leaving us standing in a dark room for almost 1/2 an hour. Each game lasts about 15 minutes and they rotate them. For example: kill the leader (where one designated player is harder to kill while the rest of the team protect him), hunger games (each player for himself ) and team games (team with most kills wins). I ended up getting totally into it and was out of breath from all the running (counting it as a workout). I like that they didn't use vests but rather headband with sensors. The guns were bigger than other laser tag I played, but I liked that (although my 9 year old didnt because it was a little heavy for her after a while ). Sunday night seemed to be a good time to go w family because it wasn't crowded. Good times.

The games have multiple modes like domination and cops-and-robbers, which makes it way more strategic and fun than standard laser tag.

Needless to say, I'm deadly in the arena. Well, atleast I like to tell myself that. Laserzone in Sugarland is one of my favorite spots to pay laser tag now as an adult. It has been around forever and always a good time. The staff here is young kids so pack your patience as they get easily distracted, especially when their friends are there. My son grew up on this place. I still strap up and have no shame in sniping the youngsters in the arena. The arena has 4 levels is a whopping 13,000 square feet. It's a great way to get a good cardio workout in too. Pricing here is very fair and they have unlimited play options on certain days and times. They also have arcade games and a laser maze challenge. I skip that activity as my body isn't as limber as when I was younger. If you're looking for a fun, interactive and physical activity, I highly suggest trying out Laserzone.

It seems like there are only 2 young staff members working at a time unless it is a short window for a shift change. Lasertag Games are every 20 minutes so it may take 15 minutes for a staff member to come out to the front desk to check you in or start a laser maze game for you. They don't teach you anything unless you ask and even then they don't give you much. Parents not playing can go inside the first Lasertag room to help suit up kiddos. The maze lasts less than a minute for my little kids but is fun. There's a lot to learn on your own in the tag game- shoot certain targets in the maze, shoot opponents, team up/ strategize- 10 year old boy heaven. The multi level room allows for a lot of strategy. Some games are as individuals and some are as teams (not fairly divided. Maybe 4 against 12). There's a screen in the lobby that allows parents to see how their kids are advancing in % accuracy and overall points. A lot of parents play too. I was a little worried about a couple of 5 and 6 year olds but they had no problems. Bring quarters if you want to play a few arcade games or the little candy/toy vending machines. They sell little packaged snacks and drinks but no real food. Overall, kids loved it and we will be back when the kids need a prize or celebration for something.

She doesn't reach the 4 feet height requirement so she couldn't do the gravity ropes or laser tag, but we came for bowling anyways. Since we got there shortly after 11am, the line wasn't too long and we got a bowling lane. Bowling shoes are $5, so even with the promo, you still are paying $41 for 2 people. Bowling. Bowling is by the hour NOT game, which I find annoying. They WILL shut down your lane in the middle of a game, and you'll never know who was going to win if you're playing against your friends Or even if you're going for a personal best. UGH, this is probably my biggest complaint. once your hour is done, You can put your name on a waitlist for another lane if you are doing the all you can play. This was bad timing for us because I just ordered lunch, so the waitress had to move our stuff to one of the back tables and deliver our food there. Food. Waitstaff is friendly and helpful. They will even get you water to your table, no charge. This time I ordered the cheese pizza kids meal ($7) and boneless chicken wings ($12) for lunch. I like that their kids' meals are reasonably priced, but then they make us order food too... hm. lol Food was decent, minus the brussel sprouts side which was an extra $2 and just boiled, not fried & crispy like what I was expecting. Next time, maybe just ask for the fruit (orange slices) as a side? Arcade. The promo included a $10 arcade card per person which was 50 credits. Each game is about 7.5 to 10 credits. I thought the Wicked Tuna game gave us the most tickets (40ish) with the least amount of skill & luck. With two $10 cards, we came out with 200 tickets and got a squishy ball and candy. We weren't going for tickets though so I'm sure we could have gotten a little more if we tried and didn't play Mario Kart, but that was her fav game haha. At the redemption center, the attendant can easily combine cards and also add funds back to your card if you hit one of those machines that didn't work. Overall, we spent $30 (with tip) on lunch and $40 on play, so $70 for a mommy daughter play date on a school day off and stayed for about 3-4 hours. Not terrible. In this economy though, it's getting tougher to justify these entertainment visits as it quickly adds up! when really, my kid just wants to play video games .
