Just short of insulting me, this fellow dismissed my questions, tried to charge me sales tax for a service, told me I did not have an Otterbox case (the case was marked Otterbox!) and switched attention to another customer (higher charge case) leaving me to stand there waiting for ten minutes. Even though we didn't actually get anything here, I would highly recommend this location. We took two pocket watches for new batteries. The woman there looked at them to try and change them out. She told us we should take them to a jeweler instead, that she wasn't sure she could do it without scratching them, and gave us a recommendation for a jeweler that was quick, did a great job, and was cheaper. It's hard to find places these days that will be honest that way instead of just trying to get the sale. Would highly recommend them. read more

Took my phone in on July 8 to get battery replaced. Returned a little over an hour later to have the lady working tell me the battery they had was defective and she had another battery on it's way after hours, I told her no worries I could come back the following day. Returned the following day, dropped my phone off and came back an hour later to have the young man explain to me my finger print sensor didnt work, asked if I had it worked on before because the wire was severed. I said never they were the only ones to ever work on my phone, he said he was going to call me later in the day after he spoke to the last person to work on it when she came in. I called the following day to have him explain they were going to order my part and asap and let me know when it comes in. Here we are a month later and not even a courtesy call. When he finally got off he took one look at my three watches and said he wasn't allowed to change the batteries because they were waterproof watches. It worked fine before but now doesn't work at all. They literally ruined my phone and refused to do anything about it. These people should not be "fixing" expensive smart phones. My iPhone screen broke and I didn't want to go all the way to the Apple Store. I had my screen fixed here instead, and after the new screen went in, the home button would not work. They refused to admit that it wasn't done right, and told me they couldn't "verify" that the home button was working before, and made me pay for the screen. They told me I would have to pay or leave with a phone with no screen. I ended up going to the Apple Store a week later, and had to pay for another new screen. I found out there is a calibration that needs to be done after the screen is put on that batteriesplus obviously had no idea how to do or even that it needed to be done. So instead, battles plus just made me pay for a service that failed. Please do not go to batteries plus if you need a screen on your iPhone. They will rip you off. UPDATE: Yeah they are real sorry, and they're gonna train themselves now. But I'm still out the $200 they demanded for shoddy work. No word on even a partial refund or anything. I brought in an item that needed special batteries because I couldn't find them anywhere else. The store picked out the batteries and sold them to me - three for $13 each. OUCH!! I got home and as I was placing the first one in the battery chamber the top of the battery casing peeled back. So I took it out and placed it back in its packaging. Today, I brought the batteries back for a refund and was told they don't take open product back. Never mind the one year warranty on the back of the receipt and on the back of the battery packaging. Horrible place to buy a battery. I bought a battery for my jet ski last June. My jet ski had carburetor issues and my mechanic tried to fix it. The battery was bad so I bought a new one. After several new parts, the jet ski was still not running correctly. I never actually rode it last year because of running issues, it wouldn't stay running. Fast forward to this May. I gave the jet ski to a marine mechanic, he said that my battery was bad. I said that it couldn't be, it was new. He decided to look in the battery and there was hardly any acid in it. It did not leak out or you would be able to see it on the case and elsewhere. They didn't prep my battery correctly. The manager, Jodie, said that because it's over 6 months old, that they can't do anything for me. I call that HORRIBLE customer service. They won't be getting any more business from me. read more

Do NOT get your phone screen repaired here. Other than my screen being cracked, my phone was functioning perfectly fine when I took it in. When I got it back, the small speaker at the top of my phone wasn't working at all. I took it back in, and upon taking it apart, they said that despite having "years of experience," they couldn't find the problem, and they'd have to send it away to be repaired. I was about to leave the country in a couple days, so I couldn't do that. In the following couple days, the battery life diminished greatly, the phone continually overheated, and the front camera didn't work at all. Some quick Google research showed that these are common symptoms of a cut cable (a problem common with screen repairs if careless), which I then called to tell them. They said they had already inspected it and didn't believe that to be the case, and even if it were, they didn't have the necessary part to repair it and would have to order it. I finally took the phone to a different repair business, who told me that the cable was indeed very obviously severed during the initial repair. After 40 minutes in their hands, the phone was as good as new. They also informed me that my phone was slightly "ghosting," a symptom of a low quality screen being installed. In addition to their breaking my phone and then being unable to diagnose the (common) problem, they took way longer to look at my phone than they told me would be the case both times I went in (causing me to make several back and forth trips to their store), and when they promised to immediately call another Batteries and Bulbs location to ask if they had the needed part, they not only forgot to return my call, but never even called the other location (I called the other myself a while later and asked). In summary, Batteries and Bulbs in Schererville provides not only shoddy workmanship, but pretty poor customer service as well. read more

I waited in the store for over an hour for them to contact the manager. They demanded that I pay for the repair in full and the manager would contact me. The manager did call me a few days later and told me that they would be giving me $500 to replace my broken phone. She asked me to give her a few days to get the check ready.
