For instance, there are still some old cheese boxes knocking around at the back, real wooden ones that have now been superceded by plastic trays (for hygiene reasons - when was cheese hygienic??) - ideal for trendy storage or even stack a few of 'em and hey presto, instant book case for under 20 quid - put that in your Habitat pipe and try and smoke it. Excellent value for new metal garden benches - go further into Bath and find the same items at 20% more. Don't blink as you drive along the London Road A4 into Bath from the A46, or you'll miss it on the right, before you get to Morrisons, which is on the left. Excellent and worth stopping to browse or calling if you want any friendly advice about gardening or filling your garden up.

It's not the cheapest place to buy, but then you get what you pay for sometimes, also it is well staffed with people who are usually able to assist with your queries. Prior Park is more than just a garden centre - there is a good pet section (including stocking more unusual items, such as foodstuffs for reptiles), a really nice food section with reasonably priced organic and local food, and all sorts of homewares, including plenty of unusual gift ideas. What I visit weekly for though, is its excellent cafe. There is an indoor seating area with air conditioning, or you can sit outside on a sunny terrace. Again, not the cheapest in town, but the quality of the food and drink is very good; they always have a range of scrumptious cakes, plus a standard snack menu of sandwiches, toasties and jacket potatoes. There is usually a home made soup of the day, plus a couple of main course options. I had pea and mint soup yesterday and it was delicious, so good that I passed my compliments to the chef. It's a good venue to meet people for coffee; a real bonus is that there is ample free parking for customers, which is a rare and precious thing in central Bath!

e purchased a Hermamn tortoise from the pet shop and aquatic…read morecentre .within two months we had to have it put down .The vet said the animal had been malnourished and that type of tortoise was not suitable as a pet. Probably imported from abroad . We have had no reply to our emails to the Garden centre. Do not make the same mistake as us and buy a tortoise from this shop .There is a very good chance it will have been mistreated and sadly is likely to share the same fate as ours.

Went to the ice cafe onsite, ordered some food and it was put onto a hot metal plate (no warning about it being hot) and my wife burnt her fingers picking up the food from this. Overall food was pretty poor quality and only after we paid we were told we would have to wait for one of the mains. This main didn't come until after I finished one and we had to chase them for it. Food+drink were very overpriced as well. For the shopping side of Whitehall, it's very overpriced.

As well as all the standard range of indoor, outdoor and water plants they also offer some rather unusual furniture and garden ornaments, including some animal themed ones! There's a real nice tea shop where I sampled a delicious slice of Victoria Sandwich Cake. They're website details the flowers and plants they stock so it's a good idea to check if they've got what your after before you make the journey there.

Totem poles and serious-looking masks glowered at the entrance, and I crept past to an oasis of water features, palm trees and funky looking plants. There's a tiny florists shop, a desert-mock up with sand, cactus and wheelbarrows, and all manner of Buddha statues and incense burners. Architectural junk sits amidst trees and herbs (some that have lasted for several months in my garden and I'm far from green-fingered!) Long outbuildings house mirrors, terracota pots and rugs - all bright and inexpensive. Best bit: homemade lemon cake and a pot of proper char in the cafe. Well, all that gardening is thirsty work afterall!

This is a good garden centre, with friendly helpful staff and a comprehensive range of plants,…read morepots, tools etc, and a large covered area with a very large selection of bedding plants. There is plenty of parking, though as it is just on the edge of the town centre it doesn't take long to walk there from the main shopping area (so OK if you just want to pop in for something easy to carry!) They give 10% discount to anybody over 60 on Tuesdays (you just have to get one of their cards). They also have a café serving home made food. This is the special bit it is run by the charity Shaw Trust, which provides work for people with disabilities.
