FS Plumbing - New shut off valves installed by Frank

The gentleman I talked to was very pleasant and very helpful and when he found out that the problem…read morewe were having was with a commercial toilet list that had just been installed he was saying that's not the type of work that he does and he gave me a recommendation to somebody and he was very helpful and I would recommend calling him and at least checking out his service.

I could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. I hired Frank, he never told me his last name, to…read morerepair two bathroom drain pipes that shared one wall in early March 2026. I asked him if I would need a work permit pulled for these repairs and he said "no". I thought F.S. Plumbing was a licensed plumbing company. I later found out it is not a licensed plumbing company. I also found out from both St. Louis County and St. Charles County that a permit would have been required for these four repairs. When Frank came out to do the work, he tore out a part of the wall in my bathroom, he said the only way to repair both drain pipes was to cut a hole into the metal vent that was inside the wall. I asked him if it could be easily repaired and he said that it would be an easy fix and that I could fix it myself with a piece of metal and a few screws. He told me he thought it was a cold air return. When I told him my cold air return was in the hallway, he didn't respond. I then told him I thought that was the vent coming off my furnace and asked if he wanted to go to the basement to look. He had been in my basement earlier to look at my outdoor faucet pipes since he was going to repair them as well. He declined going to look in the basement to see what the vent was and he proceeded cutting into the vent. He cut a large hole in the vent and the way that it was cut I saw no way to repair it since the one drain pipe was running right through it. I decided to Google "can you cut a hole in a furnace vent?" I got the quick response of "absolutely not". I called my local fire marshal and he agreed that it should have never been cut due to it being the furnace and water heater flue vent for carbon monoxide release. I called a retired HVAC friend and he said Frank, a plumber, should have known that you can't cut open a furnace flue vent. He told me not to pay Frank until I found out how much it would cost to replace the flue section. After I researched and found out this information, Frank asked to be paid. I told him I couldn't pay him that day until I found out exactly what it was going to cost to replace the flue vent. He said he wouldn't leave my house until I paid in full. I felt threatened and intimidated so I wrote him a check for the full amount of $1495. Frank left the house and, I found out later, he immediately drove to my personal bank (of the check) and cashed the check that same day. Also, when Frank left my house, he didn't tell me to not use my heat or hot water, or to turn them off in the basement. I could have died of carbon monoxide poisoning if I hadn't called my friend, later, who told me this fact. My friend told me how to shut off the gas furnace and water heater valves after Frank left to cash my check. I didn't have heat or hot water for over two weeks until the flue vent was ordered, delivered, and replaced. (The vent was a special order and came from out of State since it was a vent from the 1960's and no other manufactured flue vents would fit properly or safely). Frank refused to pay for the repair which turned out to be a replacement of the section of flue vent between the two bathrooms. I got 4 bids for him so he would see I was trying to get him the lowest price for the flue replacement. The HVAC bids ranged from $1500 - $2500. Frank came over to my house a few days after his initial work and said he was going to "fix" my flue vent. He was holding a tube of caulk and a piece of metal. I told him again that the flue section had to be completely replaced. He didn't believe that the flue had to be replaced even though a fire marshal and six HVAC guys said the situation was very dangerous and the vent section had to be replaced. I spoke to Frank, off and on, for three weeks giving him ample time to do the right thing and pay for the flue replacement. He refused, and the last time I texted him he texted me "God is watching". I had the flue vent replaced and I paid for it. I, also, had to have another plumber redo the drain pipe repairs that Frank charged me $895, I had to pay an additional $1000 for the drain pipes to be moved to the correct position, away from the vent. I had to have the wall repaired with new dry wall and tape since the HVAC man had to tear the wall out to get to the entire flue vent. I contacted YELP in late March since Frank has the red YELP GUARANTEE but they have not responded to my filed claim. I have contacted the Missouri Attorney General Consumer Complaint department and they have opened complaints against YELP and F.S. Plumbing and are currently investigating the claims.

It started out well. I called with a bit of an emergency - sewage back up into my basement. Gross…read more He was available to come same day (Wednesday). I was excited. He arrived that afternoon. He was pleasant to interact with, and spent a bit over an hour snaking the main house drain. He snaked about 80 feet. At one point he nearly lost the snake down the drain when it separated from his "drill" (whatever it is he uses to run the thing). After about an hour, he said he needed another 40 feet or so of snake length and didn't have it with him. He asked if he could come back the next day. We agreed he would come the next day, Thurs, at 1.30pm and be done by 4pm (I had a window in my day, but had to leave again by 4pm). At 1pm he called to say his morning job was running long and could he come after I was home for the evening, around 5.30/6pm. I agreed. I texted when I got home around 5.45pm and said I was available whenever he was. Around 6.15pm he texted saying he was JUST finishing that job from that morning! and asked if he could come the next day (Friday). I told him yes, any time after 10.30am. At 10.50am on Friday I texted him telling him I had an errand to run and I could either do it right then, or wait until he was here and working, I just needed to know his schedule. He texted saying I should run my errand and he would text when he was on his way. So I did. And I texted him at 2.30pm asking his ETA. No response. I texted at 4.30pm asking for his ETA. No response. I texted at 6.30pm asking if he was okay and should I find another plumber to finish the job. He responded at 8.15pm saying his phone got wet and this was why he didn't show up at my house to finish the job he started 2 days earlier!!! He apologized and asked if he could come the next day (Sat) and finish the job. I told him I had a full day and would be available at 6.30pm and he should plan to be there at 6.30pm. He agreed. So yesterday (Sat), I texted in the morning to confirm his intention to be at my house at 6.30pm. He confirmed. I texted at 6.28pm to tell him I was home and ready when he was. He said "30 minutes? " I said sooner was better, but if it was 7pm, fine. 7pm rolls around - no plumber. 7.15pm I text asking his ETA. No response. I text at 7.28pm "Dude!" He replies saying "my ex-wife follow to your house. So sorry." I reply, "I do not understand what this means." No response. I ask him to text me. No response. I call him. He answers and says "I'm so sorry.... my ex was at your house when I pulled up." Um... how would your ex wife even know about my house or your appointment? She's your EX wife.... And so what? You're at my house to do a job. And why would that unexpected event (if it did happen) prevent you from texting or calling to tell me there was an issue???? He insists she was there, even when I point out that I was watching on my Ring camera because I was expecting him and had to secure my dogs before letting him in. I don't for a second believe his ex wife showed up at my house. I think this is an excuse for not showing up to a job on a Saturday evening when he should have completed the job two days earlier. At that point, I reminded him that he hadn't finished the job, was supposed to have finished it on Thursday and it was now close to 8pm on Saturday - and he had left some of his stuff in my basement! So I told him to come by today (Sunday) and pick his stuff up from my front porch (it's not visible from the street) and I will find another plumber to finish the job. I do not recommend Good to Go Plumbing.
