The staff were very helpful and thorough in guiding us in every step. The music selection was great! We even played a trivia game while we waited for our candle to harden. I will be back to make more candles.

What a great way to spend an early birthday!…read more This candle bar is an absolute vibe. I'm a sucker for a good theme, and this place delivers. It was definitely Black, and it was very much lit. The music was a mix of some of my old favorites--so much so that my friend and I were occasionally too busy vibing to follow instructions. Thankfully, the staff was incredibly patient with us. I loved the thoughtful Black touches throughout the space: the toilet paper, the napkins, even the chocolate-covered strawberry we received on arrival was dipped in rich, luxurious black chocolate... and yes, it was absolutely delicious. The walls of the shop will also adorned with all sorts of nostalgic Black pop culture pieces, to help tie the whole theme together. The energy from the moment I walked in the venue was welcoming, inviting, and just chill. My friend and I were a few minutes late, but Michelle and the rest of the team were so gracious. Even though we started late, we still got the full experience. The staff guided us through the process step by step, helping us select our jars, choose our fragrances, and create our candles. While our candles were curing, we were able to select from a wide variety of fun games to play, including Black Card Revoked and Cards Against Humanity. What was meant to be just a candle-making class turned into a hilariously enjoyable experience. This is such a fun and creative way to spend an afternoon. And who doesn't love a good candle? If you're looking for something fun to do with friends--whether it's a girls' day out, a bridal shower activity, or just something fun to do on a random day--I highly recommend this spot. The vibes are immaculate, the staff is so welcoming, the venue is beautiful, and the candles are completely customizable. Candles not your thing? No worries. You also have the opportunity to make scent diffusers, body oils, and other fragrance based products... Completely customizable, of course. This spot well worth the trek to Waldorf. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Nikki in her grand opening retail store front Zen in a Jar. For the new consumer like me have no fear they have sample to smell the different options even though I was told what I saw was just a sampling and they have over 200 combinations to choose from. They will also allow you to come in Tuesday-Thursday and meet with a specialist that can help you choose the perfect blend for yourself or for others. I will definitely be back. For now I settled for Opulence body butter and oil and & Rich Auntie. Parris my specialist was very helpful and knowledgeable about my likes and naming them with choices she thought I would like.

There's a table at the front with various scent samples and a wheel with different fragrance notes to help you decide what scents you might like. The space is so relaxing, and there's a coffee station and bar cart, so you can sip while you shop. The highlight for me was the bathroom! The walls are filled with photos of beautiful black women, and the shelves are stocked with black woman owned products like Black Girl Sunscreen, Black Girl Vitamins, and perfumes like Ce Noir and Brown Girl Jane. It was honestly so inspiring to see all the beautiful and amazing products. I purchased a hair and body mist in Honeymoon, which is a blend of coconut and oud. It smells DIVINE!!

If I could give a negative review I would. I stop by the Sally's in Prince Frederick. The young…read morelady says can I help you. I said yes where is your hair dye for black people's hair. Her response oh we don't have hair dye based on race. I pause & then go around to the other isle & see all the black hair care products. Then I say excuse Ma'am do you care an African braid sheen spray. Oh well if you don't see it, we don't have it. She literally never attempted to look or help me look. The store is completely empty & when I entered she was in the back. She stood behind the register with the put on customer service voice without providing customer service. So I sat there with product in hand deciding if I would give this store one cent of my hard earned income. Nope.. put it all back, drove to the Giant Food Store in the same shopping center & got both items I was looking for. It's insulting that she not only did not have the situational awareness to understand why you don't imply that there are no race based hair dyes while working at a Beauty Supply store but that tone of fake customer service, assistance & effort was the deal breaker. Yes they didn't carry the product but offering to help while not helping is an extra insult which is why this store deserves No Support from those that need Race Based Hair Care Products. Pictured are the products purchased from Giant Food Store.

Returning 15 minutes past opening time, she was not able to get the register to process credit cards, and customers had to pay with cash. She was ignorant, rude, smart-mouthed (used the f-word), and incompetent. The store manager, Tina, was nonchalant and unapologetic about the situation and seemed very much aware and okay with the way the employee (whose name she refused to provide) talked to customers. I have reported the employee and Tina to Sally's Customer Service and will not be returning to the store.
