This quote from Maria at Mums the Word pretty much sums up why we loved working with her for our wedding. She's a high-energy idea factory who can almost make you breathless as she runs through the possibilities for your flower arrangements, but in the end, you're glad you went along for the ride. Not only did she work with us to create beautiful bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres, she also helped us put together beautiful centerpieces that went perfectly with our fall theme and really represented our sense of style. We were first directed to Maria by Darlene from the Kings Grant Community Room, the venue where we held our wedding reception, which is right in the same community as Mums the Word. Once Maria feels she knows your personality, she goes right to work coming up with arrangements you'll love. We were initially apprehensive when talking to her on the phone, as she asked us to do some "homework" and come in with pictures of what the bride's dress and matron of honor's dress would look like, what kinds of flowers we wanted, etc. At that point we had absolutely no clue how to answer any of those questions, but we found some pictures online that captured what we were thinking. When we walked in to her shop, she immediately sized up our personalities to a tee and went to work with her book of flowers putting combinations together. When we then pulled up our "homework" flower photos from online, sure enough, every single flower she had picked out as ones she thought we would love appeared in the photos we had found. We were amazed! Another area she helped us out with was our centerpieces. We had brought her a few ideas that we'd seen online and liked, and she helped us bring those together into one cohesive idea for each of the tables. Something special that we very much appreciated was that as we were buying the individual parts that would make up the centerpieces, she took them off our hands and stored them in her shop until the day of the wedding. I imagine this was easy for her to do since she only had to deliver them to Kings Grant in the same community, but it was still a much appreciated gesture. And it was her team who assembled the centerpieces, which included more than just flowers -- there were mason jars, multiple bags of colored stones, flowers, water, and floating candles. When we walked into our venue and saw them on the table, we thought they looked just beautiful. Overall we were very happy with her work and would recommend her to anybody. We loved her always sunny, can-do attitude. Nothing was ever a problem, and she was always happy to work with us to plan our flowers and centerpieces from hundreds of miles away. We're very happy that Darlene pointed us to her.

I told the owner all of this and by asking a few simple questions she was able to build a beautiful bouquet for my fiancé's shower that received I received countless compliments on. While assembling my bouquet, she asked so many questions about our wedding and how we met. She was so genuine. It really seemed like she cared much more than just being there to run her business. I can only imagine I paid a fair price for the bouquet I received, especially since I walked in unannounced and she crafted it on the spot without any help from me (especially with how many of her friends and our family LOVED it). I will definitely be back. Mums earned a forever customer as long as I'm living in the area.
