We have kids that love these kinds of shops and are always asking questions and wanting to explore; the owner not only welcomed us into the shop but was happy to appease our kids' incessant questions. We came in late (due to the limited parking) so I missed the name of our instructor but she was friendly and knowledgeable. I believe it's about $55-60 per person and each person gets to make two 7oz candles. Personalized touches Include: scent choice and naming the candle. The scents here are great! It was fun exploring all the different notes and profiles. The class is about an hour and everything is provided. As a "student" you get to melt down your wax, smell/ pick your scents, mix scents, pour wax, mix the candle, add your wick, and label your candle. The process is really fast. The longest part is waiting for your candle to cool down/ dry. We were given an estimate between 3.5-4 hours. So plan your day around the area or come in the following day for pick up. Overall, we had a great time and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested. Perfect for solo date, girls night, date night, etc.

Instead of handling the situation with kindness or understanding, a staff member made us clean it up ourselves. My sister was wearing a dress, and they still insisted she pick it up. To make matters worse, they made my young sister walk outside to throw the trash away herself. Accidents happen, and this could have been handled with basic courtesy and professionalism. Instead, the managers and staff came across as rude, unwelcoming, and lacking any sense of customer service. We left feeling embarrassed and disrespected. Unfortunately, because of how we were treated, we will not be returning. There are plenty of places in Galveston that treat their customers with much more kindness and respect.

While at the Texas Renaissance Festival a few years ago, I walked by this little shop and was…read moreimmediately intrigued by just how good it smelled. It wasn't your ordinary candle shop smell. This was an intense, pleasant, comforting fragrance that just tugged at me to come inside and take a look (and smell) at what was inside. First off, I could not believe all the different and unique scents offered! My first sniff, which became my first purchase, was Leather. Maybe this sounds like an odd choice, but this Leather is a very earthy, rich smell. Think of a new high quality leather handbag or that cool leather jacket you just love. It reminds me of the top leather shops in my beloved Firenze. Now add a bit of warmth to it and you have my candle. It's a good scent for your home in the fall when leaves are changing (though, sadly, you won't find much leaf changing in Houston) and your thoughts are turning to fall festivals. Since then I've purchased many scents from seasonal to aromatherapy and others I just happen to like. Everyone's sense of what they like to smell varies and the variety of fragrances here is immense. They are grouped by earthy, floral, fruit, MintRX, seasonal, spice and tropical with a few others. I also could not believe the beautiful candle works of art they had. I had never even thought of candles as being sculptures but here they can be. Often there is someone making a sculptured candle and you can watch them do so. It's very interesting to see how the wax becomes so intricately detailed. This shop has sculptured candles of almost any theme or for any occasion. The people who work here are so friendly, fun and helpful. They are just nice people, period, and take pride in their craft. Legendary Candle not only has a shop at the Texas Renaissance Festival during the festival season but also a place of its own. They have moved to a new location recently but the quality of the candles remains unchanged. The candles are all clean burning cotton wicks with no toxic ingredients. As Legendary Candle states, "you breathe what you burn". The website, legendarycandles.com, lists the ingredients used in candles as well as other information. The scent really does last until the candle fully burns, just as they guarantee. If the trek to Legendary Candle seems to far for a drive (it isn't, by the way) then you can order online. I've received the same great customer service online as I have in person. I was never much of a candle burning person before Legendary Candle's products converted me. These are the absolutely only candles I use or will ever use. Yeah, I'm a happy fan of these guys.

Foxfire made made creating my own candle so easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Devon was incredibly helpful, friendly, and made the whole process feel special. There were so many amazing scents to choose from and blend together, it was so hard to narrow it down to just my favorite three or four! And how do you know which scents blend with which?! That's where Devon steps in and she crafts her special magic and helps us know how and why certain scents go together. I loved being able to create something completely personalized from my scent, to picking out the container, to creating a label and name for my candle - it was also personalized! The atmosphere was cozy, creative, inviting, and relaxing - the perfect spot for a fun outing or a girls' day (we ended up using this at my special birthday treat for my friend since her birthday was around the corner).
