Since it was a Tuesday morning, it was pretty quiet in the area and we had a private class with Chris. Chris was very thorough, starting with candle and fire safety. He took his time showing my daughter the process, from pouring, mixing, balancing the smells and everything in between. He knew a lot about scents and what goes well together. The shop itself was really nice and tidy. Bonus points on the "secret" room that had some gaming stuff like pool table, mini arcade area and some board games. I say secret because the connecting door is hidden as one of the shelves. He let us take our time in the room that is actually an adjoining room to his shop that has its own entrance/exit door. We could have also bought food from next door and the shop offers drinks. They have different events every month. Really neat shop, close to lots of other neat businesses like coffee and ice cream shops.

In all seriousness, I've appreciated Yankee Candle for this company's innovation and it always seems like its one step ahead when it comes to inventing new scents (seasonal or otherwise) and it's hard to beat the accessories it offers customers to keep those candles burning safely! I got started with Yankee years ago while looking for a gift and ran across a candle with an "ocean breeze" scent. My first became my all time favorite - though it's called "beach walk" now. For the Holidays, anything with evergreen, Alpine, cedar, and - I can't forget mistletoe! :0 are among my faves as well. Yet, we all have our own bests when it comes to the many scents Yankee offers. But I was a little stunned when I read that Yankee Candle, which had its beginning in 1969, has offered over 150 different scents over the years. I'm sure there will be many more to come! The service is wonderful and the sales associates are warm and friendly. The store is larger than some other Yankee Candle stores and has many great products. I am allergic to a lot of floral scents, they have so many scents to choose from, there is something for anyone who wants their home or car to smell warm and welcoming. Their candles are far superior to most candles on the market. The tarts are great as are the tea lights and they are usually on sale. I love the wooden wick candles that crackle when you burn them. They also have wall plugins and car scents. They even have room sprays and gel beads for small rooms. The vases and jars holding the candles are all wonderful and they have accessories to hold the candles which are great for home decorating, especially around the holidays. The scenterpiece items are fantastic! I am newly addicted and in love! I love the fall scents that fill up my home. The scenterpieces come in many unique designs that fit any home design. BAD MANAGEMENT! Today's my birthday, I always get excited for my free gift every year from here! I…read morehave been a manager for 6 years in the service industry and honestly I'm a pretty patient and kind person! This is not normal for me to write a bad review, and honestly it takes a great deal for me to even complain because I understand the struggle of the service industry! This sweet sweet cashier was working her tail off! She was so kind, patient and did her BEST! She had glasses and brown hair I don't remember her name but, I thanked her many times! unfortunately the MANAGER only scheduled one person to work the floor and since she was the only one actually working she was on register trying to tackle the LONG line of inpatient older Karen's who clearly don't understand what it's like to work in the service industry understaffed while dealing with bad management!!! When the cashier asked for manager help MULTIPLE times the manager yelled at her, had an attitude and was so rude to her one employee in front of a LARGE line of people. No way is that ever right to treat a person in such a way! The manager instead of helping getting this large line of people out the store and distressing the environment she decided to snap at her one employee and run away to "help" someone on the other side of the store. Priorities lady!! Priorities!! I patiently waited and tried to figure out my coupon situation for my free birthday gift, the cashier was being kind and helpful helping me figure out why I never got an email when I do every year and when she asked for the manager to help us the manager refused to give me my free grift and snapped at us. I personally truly don't care about not getting the free gift as much as I care about how this young lady was being treated!!! Bad management makes or breaks a work space and she needs to get herself under control if she's going to want to have hard working, respecting employees! She created a terrible work environment and I've only barely had an encounter with her and I could tell! I'm happy I decided to not shop and get anything for myself for my birthday (I was planning to) because I refuse to give my money to a place that treats there team this way. I hope this review gives higher ups a little motivation to try and fix this and work on making a better work space for the team and customers. That is the only thing I wish comes from this review!
