Instead, I was blindsided by what can only be described as a full-scale North Pole invasion... in early November. There were trees. There were lights. There were carols. I swear a ceramic Santa winked at me while I was still trying to process the fact that it was 72 degrees outside and my jack-o'-lantern was still holding on. Don't get me wrong -- I love Christmas as much as the next caffeine-fueled Midwesterner, but I'd at least like to digest my Halloween candy before I'm peer-pressured into buying an elf-themed potholder.

Note, candles are burning and the aroma can be a bit much for sensitive noses such as my husband. I had no problems but just be aware. Primitive Porch just moved into this location in February, 2018, which use to be the home of Lighthouse Christian Bookstore. They kept the book section and Cafe from the Lighthouse Bookstore. Smoothies and sandwiches are just steps away from the shopping. You can easily spend an hour plus browsing all the unique pieces throughout this large store. Seasonal items are gorgeous, primitive everything (well, almost), all types of candles, beautiful quilts, florals, pottery, shelves, cabinets, furniture and so much more will keep you busy. The second floor has a large women's boutique with a dressing room and even more home decor. Jewelry and scraves can be found downstairs by checkout. Outdoors, by the entrance, is patio furniture and garden decor plus many cement statues. The staff was so helpful and friendly! The prices are reasonable and affordable. Terrific shop for gift giving for any occasion.

Adorable local boutique! In fact, this town needs about 2 dozen more just like it. We figured this…read moretown would be full of fun, little shops. Nope. Except this little gem. I asked the lady working (I THINK she said she's the owner?) about the town and things to do. She was so helpful, sweet, friendly and talkative. She knew all the local spots, restaurants, etc. She even made specific recommendations about places like Fast Eddies, lol. We didn't make a purchase on our visit but I will say, for being the only of it's kind in such a small town, her prices were very fair. Great job, Owner!! To the French Lick "powers that be" more of this. I suggest checking out the small town of Milford,Ohio. That.

What a fun place to browse for that unusual item for that unusual friend! Or even the normal ones…read more The woman who worked here was very welcoming and even pointed out the other shops in the block to stop by. My wife and I decided to browse and check it out (we like independent shops since you get a different mix of items than the chains.) There were the usual types of items you find in a gift store: jewelry, candles, greeting cards, floral sprigs, etc. But they were different brands which makes it seem like you tried a little harder to find the right gift. One of our favorites in the store was the line of greeting cards. They made us chuckle and pick out more to read. They also carry magnets and post it notes with the funny sayings. Simply unique and a wide selection to choose from. The store tends to carry products/gifts targeted more to the female gender, so I didn't find anything for my guy friends, but I could see it being a place that ladies might enjoy exploring. Now, what's with the name? I don't get the connection and forgot to ask while there. Review #2668

Stephanie did a great job of telling us about her business as well as candle safety. We were able to add scents and colors as well as stickers and jewels. Everything down to the finest details about our lunch was so wonderful, that it's hard to narrow down for brevity. The setting, the decor, the exceptional service, the food and the tea and their presentation...perfect. So lovely. A few of us have food allergies, and they were easily accommodated for. They have a nice selection of gluten free options, and what we sampled was delicious. The girls were all so tickled with their Princess Tea lunch. They received crowns, and we couldn't help but notice that each girl received a color that matched their outfit. Having a selection of finger sandwiches and little sweet treats thrilled them just as much as having pots of tea to sample from their pretty little teacups. Even the smallest details were tended to. We enjoyed it so much, we quickly agreed to making this a regular girl date spot.

My daughter is on a gluten free diet and seeing no GF offerings on the menu she ate before we went but joined us for the experience. Our reservation was for 12:30. We were seated within a few minutes. Our waitress, Ashlyn, arrived and introduced herself, promising to be back soon. 30 minutes later she returned and asked if we would like water. We said water and menus would be nice. 30 minutes later she brought a carafe of water and the menus. We had plenty of time to discuss the menu. When she returned she sat down in our extra chair and talked about the selections and made suggestions for us. Then told us to think about what we wanted and she would be back. 30 minutes later she returned and asked if we knew what we wanted. My sister told her we would like to order now. My granddaughters and I ordered the petite tea, consisting of a cup of soup, sandwich, scones and sweet treats, and tea. We all chose the baked potato soup, sweet and spicy turkey croissant, and vanilla almond tea - all served on a tiered tray. My GF daughter ordered a cup of tea. My sister ordered separately. Our tea pot was delivered and we waited for our order. Our waitress appeared 30 minutes later and asked if we needed anything. My sister said yes, we would like our orders. Our waitress apologized for the wait and said there was a mix up in orders in the kitchen. She reminded us that she did not prepare the food, just served it. Our food finally arrived. The cup of soup is literally a tea cup of soup and while it was delicious, it was 3 teaspoons of soup - which we used the same spoons we used for our tea as there were no soup spoons. The turkey croissant was grilled and flavorful, also 3 bites. The tea was now cold but the sweets were very tasty. When our waitress reappeared, she apologized for the long wait and offered to take half off my daughter's tea and noted that we would also save the tax that would be charged on the $5.00 tea. My sister told her that was not acceptable, that she thought half off the entire table was customary in the restaurant world, keeping in mind we have been there over 3 hours. The waitress said she would talk to the manager, then came back and asked us to meet the manager at the register. We ended up receiving half off the entire bill and there was half off for my daughter's tea. 3 stars for adjusting the bill and for the delicious food, that's 2 stars less than my previous glowing review for making my granddaughters first "tea room" experience less than stellar.
