You can drive up the mountain and see some wonderful views of the lake and countryside . There are parks with some large children's playgrounds. The Japan House was not only convenient to the wonderful sights on Main St. and the harbour but it was the cleanest we have experienced in a long time. That means even more so than more expensive hotels we have been in. We have found out that the price you pay certainly doesn't assure you'll be happy. And, best of all, the BEDS! We both agree that they are the most luxurious and comfortable we've encountered. And, the hosts are very friendly and accomadating. We would highly reccommend a stay at the Japan House !

The man who owns the place was really nice…read more The room smelled of cigarette smoke, and the hot water did not last long. The walls appeared to be quite thin. Drunk people were messing around late into the night. It appeared to be the sort of motel that people live in rather than stay the night in. The person next to us had some mental health issues. He kept knocking on our door...trying to get my boyfriend to come to his room and hang out, to accuse me of hammering on the wall, to tell us our dome light was on, and again in the morning to accuse me of hammering on the wall while he tried to nap at 5pm. The poor guy may have been a war vet, an alcoholic, or both. I hope he finds the help he needs.
