lousy service, just tried to return a small light bulb but they didn't take the return because the cardboard packaging was ripped. if you don't take returns on ripped packaging, make packaging you don't have to rip to get the product out. teller was grumpy too! read more

The item I was looking for was first searched on the website. The price was fair, called Baskins to see if in store for pick-up, gave product brand and Ace internet price, phone reply, we have it but was not Baskins price, they wanted $20 more. Got them at Target, saved $45. Buy local not in Harwich port. read more

I used to go in there because it was convenient however, from now on, I'm going to the Ace Hardware in East Harwich. The staff at are very unfriendly very. The cashiers don't honor coupons that I've received from their store. There's always some excuse, the prices are very high independently owned operated avoid this place. read more

Hi there, I went to Baskins Ace hardware in Harwich Port (a few miles away) and was met with impatience and no inclination to help. In fact when I arrived at the cashier, they asked me to go and find the prices for their products (screws, which are all in small boxes, all priced differently, and not marked at all clearly/obviously). When I said I had no idea where that price might be found, nor why I as a customer am expected to go look for it, and could they help me I was told "well we're busy". I insisted so they helped. I clearly didn't go back. Note the irony that their slogan is "The helpful place"!!...maybe that should be "the helpful place, if you really push us to give you help" In contrast, per my other review, I went to Ace Hardware in Brewster. Jim (the proprietor) was actually in the middle of something else in his office, when I poked my head in to ask for help. He politely told me he had to finish an order and would be with me in a couple of minutes. He then took about 15 minutes of his time to understand what I was trying to fix, to look up some potential solutions on the web and to suggest options (one of which just worked out fine, thank you Jim) and all done in great humour. On July 23, 2019, a tornado came through Harwich Port, Cape Cod. We were visiting from Connecticut and didn't have time to head back to our inn when we received the emergency alert about the tornado on our phone. We were near the Baskin's Ace Hardware store and headed inside. The staff were welcoming, encouraging us to make ourselves comfortable. They took terrific care of us. Gave us bottles of cold water, a lantern (the power had gone out) and then when it started to get dangerous outside, they escorted us to the basement where we were out of harm's way. We are so grateful to all the staff for their kindness, and we would encourage folks in the area to support this business. They not only have a remarkable inventory, they deserve the community's support for their good deed. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. This is a way above average hardware store. I do not really, exactly, know what I am doing renovating what hopefully will become a comfortable retirement home. Everytime I go in there armed with everything that I have learned on line, they go out of their way to be helpful and to make sure that I leave as well prepared as supplies can make me for my project. They often add valuable tidbits of information that never fail to be useful. Friendly and nice go a long way in this world...not to mention that they invariably have what I am looking for. read more

I went here to rent a Pole Saw and showed up 5 minutes before they opened and got some real attitude from the tall guy in the rental department. He reeked of alcohol and didn't smile one time when he was doing the rental contract, I then was sent around back and he gave me some more attitude about showing up 5 minutes early. I was given a Pole Saw that was dull and barely any fuel for it, I couldn't even cut a third of what I needed to because of this. I returned with it and was told the chain was sharp and I told them it was worn down and clearly was not sharpened! I got some more attitude and wasn't offered anything to complete my job or my money back! I now have multiple bad experiences in the South Dennis and Harwichport stores and will only shop in the Orleans branch. The manager Jim is the best and always takes care of everything I ask for without the bad attitude and shows a great sense of humor to boot! read more
