We've had a great experience at BASIS Mesa. The academics are strong and challenging, and the teachers are kind and genuinely care about the kids. The front office staff is always helpful and responsive, which makes a big difference. There's a strong sense of community here, the booster club is amazing, and there are fun activities and events that bring families together. I was very disappointed today! My 3 kids started at basis mesa first year, I made the lunch, stopped by the front office, ask them to have my kids pick it up for lunch. They did not tell my kids to pick it up. One of my son's friend brought him the lunch that saw my son's name otherwise, my son wouldn't even know about it! How did I know? I picked my kids up at 5 pm, ask what they had for lunch, thinking that all 3 of my kids enjoy and thrilled about the lunch I personally made and drop off for them, but they didn't even know about it! My other son and daughter didn't even know it existed! They were hungry all day! 7 to 5 pm with no food! I never encountered such bad experiences with front office staff until I came to this school, basis mesa! Many times I stopped by their office, staff was not friendly at all! Especially the one with thick lips! I was furious when found out my kids didn't know I dropped off lunch for them today! read more

This school is complete garbage i hate BASIS so much my son went there when it open and it ruin him bad. Administration and teachers always quitting left and right they dont care about nothing. They belittle the kids like they in the army or something treating students like trash. Homework is horrible and test every class same day its crazy. Kids have no life no friends no fun just stress all the time. I know so many family kids had nervous breakdown cuz they push so hard for good grades to make school look good. They only care about grades not the students at all these people are heartless monsters and terrible human beings. honestly it's alright. its just a bit hard to keep up and the school lunch is ok at best also most of the other reviews were made by students who want to review bomb the school on their iPads and iPhone 15 pro maxes to "revolt" because they want to feel edgy and cool there are other ways to use your time. go study for a math test instead of playing ROBLOX, that MIGHT just solve your problems about the school "sucking" because of "extremely hard homework that takes hours to complete" the funniest part of all of this is that the kid who was yapping about "revolting" the most HASNT EVEN PUT THEIR REVIEW ON HERE YET! anyways BASIS Mesa is a good school, much better than other schools in the area read more

Basis schools aren't for everyone ... the small school atmosphere isn't for everyone ... the rigor required and willingness to put academics first isn't for everyone ... the constant learning by children and adults alike isn't for everyone. However, Basis Mesa is a great start for any family who believes their kids can achieve amazing things given the opportunity and support. I've had two kiddos go thru this program and both could have gone thru to graduation without a doubt. Both got a great start and strong foundation which is what we were looking for when we enrolled them in 4th grade. There are lots of choices for parents these days. My son attended Basis when it opened. Administration and teachers have a high turnover. Teachers and admin belittle the students. Yes they might get a good education but, there are other schools that give you a good education without treating students like they are in the military. The homework is atrocious and tests in every class the same day. Kids have no social life when attending this school. I know a lot of other families that their kids had a nervous breakdown because they are so demanding with kids getting good grades because it makes the school look good. People have their experience but I have mine and let's just say it was NOT a good experience it was if anything terrible the administration has absolutely no care for anything except a pay check and if they get a student in trouble it's their lucky day. One time i got sent their and while I was explaining the reason I didn't bring a calculator to class they started grinning i know that doesn't seem bad but when I left they started laughing. Ok now let's talk about the recess and lunch I've look on their page on google and there are a lot of reviews saying the lunch is WAY too short and yes, yes it really is all I'm saying is if you want your kid or your self to be in this school think again. If you want extremely hard homework that takes hours to complete, want a lunch that will two seconds long, have an administration that absolutely doesn't care, and have dramatic teachers this school is perfect for you read more

I am a parent of two students at Basis, both of whom are very successful academically. I have mixed feelings about the school. Many of the teachers are wonderful but there was a high turnover last year, in the school's first year, and some of the best teachers and administrators left the school. The variety of academic subjects required is fantastic. The main reason we stay at this school is that my son was able to skip four years of math through their placement test and is finally, for the first time, working at his ability level. Families at Basis are those who make a huge commitment to their children's education. Parents are required to purchase many textbooks for their children for required classes. There is an enormous amount of homework, especially for my high school sophomore, who was required to take 5 AP classes this year but chose to take a sixth because she wanted an elective as well. Both of my children have serious (10 to 20 hours a week) interests outside of school. My sophomore has nights when she gets no sleep at all because of the homework load. My children enjoy learning and are okay with the heavy homework load. Some negatives for us have been the lack of advance notice when school day times change and requirements to spend hours at school on multiple Saturdays for testing when we have other commitments. But the biggest negative is really the administration this year. My children say the administrators treat students like dirty dogs, yell at students, and will not listen to students. I can say that they are sometimes rude to parents. A few teachers get away with name calling and tearing down students which would be unacceptable at most schools. There have been several incidents of sexism in the classroom, including a teacher telling students in class last year that women are incapable of holding leadership positions. Again, I have mixed feelings but we stay because my children want to be challenged and enjoy being with other serious students. The office staff this year is really nice. My sophomore has been contacted by thirty or more colleges already because of her PSAT score, so that's another reason to appreciate BASIS. She would be successful at any school but BASIS is opening doors with their high academic standards. I would recommend the school for hard working, bright students. read more
