Not knowing anything about the menu, I opted to try the Duke. Great choice. I had mine with pulled pork, with my chile on the side, so I could taste the original item and add the New Mexico flavor if needed. I loved the original version and confess I did not add the chile the second time. Service was great - delivered to my car in the Ex Novo parking lot. Ambiance is outdoors or take-away - how can we complain? Next time you are driving through our village and see the red food truck on the west side of Corrales Road near the fire station, pull in and give them a try. I'm glad I did.

Had two lunches, one on 5/1 and one on 5/3 that were catered by LaRivas…read more "Did they have those nasty sandwiches again?" my friend asked me regarding the 5/3 lunch that she did not attend. Yeah, I wouldn't go so far as to call them nasty, but they weren't anything special. There were four choices of sandwiches: ham, turkey and avo, tuna, and veggie. Had tuna the first day and veggie the second day. Okay, I get it. The bread is supposed to be thick, even thicker than the filling. Not my thing, but I get that that's the style for some sandwiches. The sandwich meats were pretty underwhelming, just standard cold cuts and canned tuna. Fruit salad was canned. At least there was a nice pickle and some chips to go with stuff. I'd recommend going to Bocadillo's instead for lunch sandwiches even if it's pricier and further away. On the plus side, they seem to have a lot of traditional New Mexican options for lunch, and my friend who opted to buy a hot dog from them instead of partake in the sandwiches enjoyed his hot dog.

The café can be bit hard to find. Had the Albuquerque Turkey sandwich on wheat and potato salad for my side. The turkey looked like no frills deli meat but the sandwich had taste going for it. No doubt the guac, green chile, and toasted bread helped pull it all together. Got a hearty helping of the potato salad and I believe she said it was home made. The complimentary water had sliced strawberries for a very nice flavor you don't normally get. The one down side is the owner/operator was doing everything. It was a Friday and there were only a handful of people there but you can expect speed when one person is the taking orders, cooking, and bringing the food to the table. I can only speak to the café, since I haven't been to their food truck. I'll have to check that out too for the full La Riva's experience.
