I'm honestly surprised by the negative reviews. I recently met with Dr. Besh for the first time to discuss my upcoming wrist and elbow surgery scheduled for March 11. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were professional, courteous, and welcoming. The office itself is beautifully designed with a modern, polished feel. My wait time was reasonable--certainly not nearly as long as some reviews suggested. During my consultation, Dr. Besh took the time to clearly explain my condition and the details of the procedure in a respectful and professional manner. He was efficient, direct, and informative, which I greatly appreciated. I also needed a note for taking a semester off from school, and the office provided it promptly without any difficulty. It was one of my worst experiences at a doctor's office. Ever. I was kept waiting for nearly 2.5 hours! My appointment was at 11:40 AM; the doctor finally saw me at nearly 2pm. I missed lunch and was dizzy with low blood sugar, and dehydrated. The assistant gave me a bottle of water. Office staff was kind, too. But not the doctor. The whole experience was a collection of red flags. Dr. Besh kept touching my hands without gloves. Made me uneasy. He insisted to take the same x-rays of my hands in his office while I already brought the result of imaging from just a week ago, ordered by my primary doctor for my recent injuries. This is scamming my insurance. Of course, the result was identical to what I brought. My last nerve conduction test was from years ago. I wanted to know if there is any change after several years of physical therapy, because I felt improvement. He said no, that will be scamming the insurance! He said I must do at least one month of physical therapy at his office, twice a week, before he is willing to order the test. In his words, "That's the right way of doing things." I guess it means the right way of doing things is to maximize his income by doing unnecessary imaging and delaying necessary tests to prevent patients from having clarity about their condition. He is dishonest, disrespectful of patient's time, and very, very arrogant. While his poor assistants and office staff were nice and kept apologizing for him (before and after he entered the room), it is only honest to leave a one-star review. I went there for my tennis Elbow and waited for almost 1 hrs from my allocated appointment time. Dr. Besh came and with in 2 mins he completed the checkup .. and I was left with no clue what happened. Adding to this, another shocker was the lady who came with paper she was trying to add medicines and trying to get more insurance money from me. Also when I request to have my setup with my local city therapy clinic, they didnt send anything to them nor they informed me about it. I was left with pain in tennis elbow and is unable to perform my day to day task. Saw Dr Besh several times over a period of maybe 4-6 months. His initial treatment plan seemed good, but when I followed them and nothing resolved he told me it was because I was "too stressed". He never recommended or did any scans or additional exploratory assessments. Would spend about 1 minute with me after I waited in the office four an hour plus. My final appointment I tried asking for more options, and he became irritated with me. He never gave me the answers or the healing I needed. I do however recommed the pt team. I am completely grateful to Dr. Besh and his team. My right wrist was very swollen (and I'm right handed). My primary told me that it was deformed and said I should see a specialist. So, I went to one that was considered reputable and he concurred that it was deformed without even an X-ray. I was ticked off and researched an experienced doc who was recommended. I met with Dr. Besh, who listened and couldn't have been more attentive. He had X-rays taken in his office and confirmed that it wasn't deformed; it was just severely swollen. I went to physical therapy for a while and it was completely healed. That was probably a year and-a-half ago. Just recently developed a trigger finger and returned for his help. He explained what was going on and the treatment that would follow. He gave me a cortisone shot in my ligament, anti-inflammatories and sent me to physical therapy. They really know what they're doing. I go back to see him soon. It is true that the wait can be long but it's well worth it. I have always found I'm to be kind, a good listener and informative about what options should be done first. Dr. Besh lacks empathy and passion in his career. My son visited him to get a consultation for his wrist as he previously severely injured it. After his recovery, we went to see him for a follow up as my son was experiencing pain and discomfort. Upon arrival the receptionist and support team were very welcoming and I had no problem with them. I did not anticipate the care I would be receiving as Dr. Best has an amazing team. Once it was time to speak with Dr. Besh, he did his part and listened to my son. My son freely expressed himself like any other patient. He stated that his wrist was hurting during daily activities and it has been hurting for a couple weeks now. We exquisitely told him how he hurt his wrist but he was in disbelief. He then proceeded to tell me son that "it was all in his head" and that it can be a mental issue. He assumed that my son was depressed and needed to see another doctor. I was NOT happy with his response. I was in shock myself. The way he handled my son was very unprofessional. I understand he holds a doctorate degree which is why I respect him and his opinions. But I do not think he should make assumptions about my son's mental state. He is an orthopedist. I did not take my son to his general doctor. I no longer have respect for him. I was directed to Dr. Besh office after seeing another specialist since they did not take my insurance. Before even heading to this location the specialist called Dr. Besh office and was told I can come in right now to be seen right away. I made sure to let them know I needed to be seen right away since I just gave birth a and had breast milk on me and I needed to drop it off to my daughter at the NICU in Washington Hospital. Denisse, at the front desk was kind enough to let me store my breast milk in the fridge. Good thing, because I was nearly waiting over two hours! When I finally got into one of the waiting rooms, I waited again SMH. When Dr. Besh came in he was in and out. Told me I was getting surgery the next day and he was out of the room immediately. No more then ten minutes top. I enjoy the staff here. From the front desk at Dr. Besh office to the OT side. Everyone is kind and friendly. For his staff I would give four stars. As for Dr. Besh, one star is a little too kind already. Yes, he did a great job during surgery and what not, but the amount of time he wasted of his patients like myself is something I can't get back. Currently I am in his office again, waited for over an hour. Yvette, checked in on me because another patient was complaining. Not a surprise. Was told he was on the phone and not answering his door after knocking several times. Last I was here another MA told me there was a medical emergency, okay fine. But I have been going here since my daughter was born and she's already four months. Not one day, does he see me on time. I was asked if I wanted to reschedule...like come on. This guy is a total joke and freak show. The only thing great about his office is the decor and courteous staff. In my first appointment with him, I went to him to get a "second opinion" after a local (San Leandro) hand clinic place was also a complete joke that led my hand to heal improperly with permanent residual pain. I waited at his office for nearly 2 hours for him to "finish up" with his patients. When he came in, he literally did not spend more than 5 minutes with me. He looked at my finger/joints and pressed on it, clearly seeing a "stop" with a limited range of motion/flexibility. This was a fracture injury. Quickly proceeded to saying "there's nothing I can do for you. Go take your anti-inflammatories." I told him I was a working musician and it was important that the area heal completely and properly because I could not play my instrument the way I did before and I was constantly in pain when I played. He was incredibly brief and rude and said "I get straight to the point. I'm not your psychiatrist." He went to some random Googled website on his computer and showed me a photo of basketball players in a locker room soaking their feet in ice and said "see? They're injured and they still play." I have literally never been so shocked and appalled at a "doctor" who supposedly displays all of his "doctor of the year" plaques 20 years in a row all over his walls as if it was a shrine. On 10/14/2022 I call and made an appointment with Dr Basil Beshs' office staff the first question I asked was do you take "FEDERAL" workerman's compensation owcp. The answer was "yes"and then my appointment was made for 10/25/2022 11:30am I made sure to ask this question first because I who I work for I know I need this type of insurance acceptation knowing because I have been hurt before and I just before this appointment i called another doctor and they were not accepting my INS So my paper work CA-1 is on a timeframe and my employer needs medical documents to continue to pay me for sick hours used. Dr. Besh is very offensive, disrespectful, insulting, insensitive to his patients and to other people . When one of his assistants took my stitches off she was having hard time and so she ask Dr. Besh for assistance. while he was taking the stitches off I cringed because I felt a little pain. He commented that I have "anxiety disorder " and to see my regular doctor. Who the hell is he to diagnose me with my mental health??? He did not close my wound properly and when I mentioned it to him he said " it will" and left it the way it was. The next day I had another appointment with my other doctor, she asked me why my wound is still partially open I told her that Dr. Besh said it will eventually close on its own. So she had to put something to close the wound. Last week I saw Dr. Besh for follow up appointment. I asked him why my hand is not getting better he said it takes 4-6 months to heal. I told Besh that I asked the other doctor the same question and she suggested that I ask Dr. Besh since he was the one who operated on me . He thought the other doctor and I are questioning his ability as a doctor . He got offended and made a snotty remark and said that the other doctor doesn't know anything and doesn't know what she is talking about because she is not a surgeon . Then he went on and on about how long he's been a doctor and how many years he went to school and how many surgeries he's done. I told him nobody is questioning his ability as doctor. I then said "I guess everybody is different and some heals faster than others ". He snapped at me and said "everybody is the same and heals the same, that's science!". Whrn I told him I don't agree with him he got more mad and said that I am not doing my part and that I don't want to work since I am getting paid. When I told him he's wrong, he said" fine, you are going back to work full duty with no restrictions then signEd the form and left the room. I would not recommend him at all ! TL;DR: Remember the TV show about Dr. House, a physician who loved solving medical mysteries? Well, Dr. Besh is not that kind of doctor. I guess he might be able to help you, if your issue is completely mundane, like a typical case of carpal tunnel syndrome or run-of-the-mill trigger finger. With anything more complicated you'll probably be better off going elsewhere. I saw Dr. Besh for an injury that was difficult to diagnose. I'd seen another surgeon before him, and that first doctor had told me that he wasn't sure how to treat my injury. Dr. Besh was recommended to me as an experienced hand & wrist specialist, so I decided to get a second opinion from him. Dr. Besh barely looked at my injury. What he did look at were previous doctor's notes and conclusions from my CT scan and MRI. When I asked why he was only looking at radiologists' conclusions and not at the actual images, he said that according to some study radiologists were better at interpreting them, so he never even tried. Hopefully you can see the problem with his reasoning here. Dr. Besh essentially took previous physician's notes as gospel. The previous physician wasn't sure what exactly was wrong, and Dr. Besh repeated pretty much the same thing without even trying to perform his own examination. In an attempt to stimulate his thought process I told him about a case report where a rare injury with symptoms very similar to mine was treated surgically. He looked like I punched him right into his ego. He said that maybe I should see the doctors who wrote that report instead of him. Ironically, that was the only good advice I got from him. At some point Dr. Besh said "your injury doesn't make sense to me". He speculated that my arm was just stiff from the cast that I wore right after the injury and recommended physical therapy and pain medication. When I asked what pain meds were for, he said that I would to push through pain when doing PT and therefore would need something to manage pain. Then he stopped and stared at me for several seconds. I guess he was trying to see if I was an addict trying to score some pills. That was quite an unpleasant experience. I refused the pain meds but decided to give PT a try and talked to a physical therapist working with Dr. Besh. Unlike Dr. Besh he told me that pushing through pain during PT wasn't a good idea, which was more in line with what I'd previously heard from doctors and physical therapists. I asked to show me some exercises and then tried doing those exercises for a few weeks. Apart from increased pain there was absolutely no effect. Eventually I found a specialist who was able to come up with a more specific diagnosis. It turned out I did need a surgery after all. Overall I was very disappointed with Dr. Besh. All he did was read me my previous medical records, which I had already read myself and recommended treatment that could cause more harm than good, especially if I did push through pain as he suggested. If I continued working with Dr. Besh, I could still be doing painful and unhelpful physical therapy, possibly getting addicted to opioids in the process. read more

I'm baffled by the number of positive reviews of Dr. Besh. I've had a horrible experience with this doctor. He's consistently at least 45 minutes late (I assume he double books to help pad his bottom line), doesn't try to explain a diagnosis in laymen's terms no matter how often you ask, and then rushes the appointment he was late for to begin with. For today's appointment, he was 45 minutes late and then berated me for 2 minutes to complete the appointment and walk away. And I'm actually not exaggerating - the entire appointment lasted 2 minutes. Instead of informing me of my diagnosis and helping with a treatment plan, he berated me for not following his initial treatment plan (which was false - he never provided one except for a splint, which I did). For the diagnosis, he read off the technical diagnosis in my MRI report and nothing further though I asked a few times. The only positive is his staff who seemed sympathetic at least - perhaps they are used to these complaints. I have yet to see his therapists but I can only pray they're more personable than Dr. Besh. Stay far away - if you want someone who actually cares about his patients rather than his bottom line, go somewhere else. read more

I have had one of the most disturbing experiences with this Doctor. Please do you research and beware. In Short: A parental figure of mine went to Dr. Besh for hand surgery for carpal tunnel. In one of the follow up appointments for workers compensation paperwork, Dr. Besh took a form that was completed by the patients Physical Therapist into another room and came back with a different form with a different evaluation. He tried to convince the patient that the original form had a typo. When I called Dr. Besh to clarify, he was very defensive and threatened the workers compensation case of his patient due to my questioning. 5 minutes later he called back and admitted that he had made a mistake in his report. He bullied, threatened and transgressed beyond the boundaries of a Doctors sworn responsibilities even though it was his mistake. Had I not made a phone call, his patient would have incorrect information on her workers compensation paper work. He then called workers compensation with false information (Not admitting to his mistake). This is clear evidence of prioritizing retaliatory behavior rather than unbiased and accurate medical evaluation. read more

Though I was in pain, I had the time to scrutinize the ambiance of the clinic and the first thing that impressed me a lot is the attentiveness of the attending staff. Kim, whom I have known later on as the doctor's assistant was so kind and very accommodating. She was so friendly I was like a little child who got tamed by her soft-spoken words. She told us to wait for a little while as the doctor is busy with a patient who came in right before us. Not long after, I was called in the doctor's office and there I have discovered more of the things that made Dr. Besh well-loved and really popular. Firstly, he work accommodatingly and would always speak in a kind and friendly manner. It was like he was talking to me like his kid brother who got hurt. I have to admit that such treatment made me feel better though treatment has not been administered yet. Secondly, I saw how he expertly performed every treatment procedure that needed to be given to my injured hand. He found out that my hand sustained a slight fracture and there was no need for surgery. Thanks God! I was so relieved that moment because I was able to escape needles and scissors, and all. He put a brace and bandage on my hand, prescribed some medicines, and told me things I should and shouldn't do for fast recovery. With a pat on my shoulder, the kind doctor sent me out with an assurance that I will be better in no time. And I just did! Truly, a hand doctor like Dr. Besh is an angel. I scheduled my first visit for the following week but the receptionist named Ramirez asked to take the same day appointment instead which I hesitated since I had work an hour after the appointment time. I mentioned to her that I have to leave to my work no later than 330 and asked her if the 230 appointment would be finished by then. She said it should be done if I get to the office 15 minutes prior to the appointment and do the registration paperwork. I arrived at 210 and finished the paperwork before the appointment but the doctor did not even show up until 330. At 340 the doctor came into the treatment room and spoke for like 5 minutes and that was it. My impression was that this facility is over booking people to maintain their fancy office and the equipment installments. Don't waste patient's time and money to meet your needs. read more

I went to doctor Besh for a second opinion, I had carpal tunnel surgery on both my hands. on my right hand I had also trigger finger ,so I went to him for a second opinion because I am having so many problems with my hands , my last surgery was in 2019 the surgeon that did the surgery sent me back to work for a trial period , by 21 days my hands had swelled up and we're hurting so bad I was taking back off work .. Dr. Besh lacks empathy. Although he is a medical trained Person he seems to not care if your in pain or your concerns. The recent visit left me disappointed and annoyed that I choose him to perform surgery on my hand. Visits with him are like car shows,Walk thru look nod head sign paper and he is gone. If you question him about you- he says that all people heal the same and because he is a Doctor this is fact. But it's not. This hand surgery is painful and it's slow to heal he did not give any meds for the pain except for first week. I don't enjoy being high but I also do not enjoy painful shocks up wrist and hand( carpal tunnel surgery) He does not connect with the patient. Of course he should be paid for his position but he needs a great lesson to help him have understanding with each individual person. He comes off offensive and rude. I pretty much follow what I'm told medically and for him to say it wasn't enough was too much. Try crying and feeling crazy nights after your hand is cut and your pain level is not great. I didn't want to become dependent on pain meds just wanted assistance so I could work through it. He gave Tylenol 3 and high level of anti-inflammatory pill but denied anything else. I will never go to a Dr that will let me suffer and expect me to trust him again. He needs more compassion when dealing with live subjects. He looks nice and dressed for meeting and you get about 5 min of that time and he is already going out the Door. Dr. Besh always ruining behind. I waited for an hour in his office just waiting for him to read my MRI. I'm sitting here next to 2 other people with appointment times 10 minutes apart. That could be some of the issue. Second review= I was actually afraid to post Almost a year ago when I broke my hand. After a couple of appointments I decided that I would confront Dr. Besh about overbooking people and the timeliness of my appointments. in a very cocky manner he told me that he was the best and that I would have to wait if I wanted to see the best. I was welcome to dismiss myself from the appointment and go see somebody else. I was told this after I had already waited for my appointment with him. I told him that him being the best had nothing to do with the multiple people that were sitting there waiting for him and how long they had to wait. He was double booking appointments and that was disrespectful to other people's time. Whether you're the best o not Has nothing to do with valuing your patients time. When he told me I could leave, he started gathering his things. Before I had said anything about his appointment times, he recommended a certain amount of physical therapy .......then, after I told him about his timeliness he reduce the amount of physical therapy he recommended and said that he wanted to be more compliant to my time constraints. He did this in the same tone he did when he told mebro go find a second rate doctor if I didn't like to have to wait. At this point I felt like he was just trying to push me out because I complained about the wait time. I've heard about doctors having a God complex before but I've never seen it in person until I met Dr. Besh. On my way into the physical therapy office, two of his assistants met me in the hall and applauded me for confronting him. They told me not to feel bad that something needed to be said and they were very glad that I said it. They commended me for being professional and polite but straight to the point as well. They also commended me for not backing down when he threatened to leave the appointment. To add to this, I'm still getting bills from his office about an MRI that was suppose to have had pre approval. He might be a great doctor. Dr. Besh had such high ratings that I traveled a distance to see him for my hand. The staff seems nice enough. I was told I first had to have x-rays before I would see him. His assistant was very friendly and took more information from me. The x-rays were on the computer with only a couple of the slides showing. I was told Dr. Besh would be coming in without a mask though the mask mandate was still in place. They enforce it in the office and building, but he would not wear one when seeing patients. When Dr. Besh came into the office, his demeanor was very aloof. He introduced himself and sat down. He asked what problem I was having, and he touched a painful point and diagnosed me with trigger thumb. He explained briefly what it was. I asked about another point on my other hand and was told it was arthritis. He never looked at the x-rays in my presence or discussed them with me. What was the point of taking x-rays if all he had to do was examine my hand? He said I should start with doing paraffin wax treatments along with physical therapy, ice packs and nsaids for 6 weeks before coming back to see him in 4 weeks. I didn't want to travel that far to use their physical therapists, so his assistant was nice enough to find the name of one closer to me. She then walked me over to the physical therapy area to get a paraffin wax machine. I was told insurance doesn't cover it, and I have to pay $40 for it. I later looked online, and I see the exact model for $24.99 at most places. I felt ripped off. After reflection, I've decided I will see another hand surgeon to follow up with. I can't see working with such a cold and disengaged doctor especially if I have to see him more than once. He may be good at what he does, but he appears to lack care for his patients. I did see another hand doctor after physical therapy failed. He was a complete contrast to Dr. Besh. Very communicative and patient. He performed surgery, and I am very happy to with the results. read more

Absolutely worst experience ever with a doctor! My 15-year-old daughter was having wrist pain(only). Our first appointment, he asked us many questions and did a one-minute exam on her wrist and concluded that she had an auto immune disease and needed to see an auto immune doctor. He told her that she has rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 15 with only wrist pain and no other symptoms. I made an appointment with the auto immune doctor, but it was 3 months out. My daughter was having anxiety over this diagnosis, so I asked her pediatrician for advice. The pediatrician immediately ran a full blood panel INCLUDING ALL auto immune and rheumatoid markers. My daughter had a thorough exam as well and the pediatrician said that there is no reason to believe that she has an auto immune disease with perfect bloodwork, perfect exam and only wrist pain. We went back to our 6 weeks follow up appointment with Dr. Besh and I explained to him the homework that we have done on her health while we waited for auto immune specialist appointment. He was OUTRAGED that we saw her female pediatrician and looked for some answers. He said to my daughter, you have an auto immune disease and by your mom not taking you to the auto immune doctor, your disease will not go away. Broadway (she is a performer) doesn't care that you have a disease. My daughter started to cry. Dr. Besh then says, why are you crying? She says, because I am scared to have an auto immune disease. Dr. Besh says, crying won't make it go away. You mother needs to take you to an auto immune doctor. He then says, as he slams the folder on the desk...I cannot help you until you see the auto immune doctor and I would be happy to sign your file to another doctor. While all of this was happening 3 nurses came in the calm/observe his behavior. The staff and nurses are nice, and I could tell that they were appalled at his behavior...at this point, we were both in tears. I could not believe the way we were being treated. Especially a child. It was a horrible, ugly, disrespectful experience that my daughter will never forget. We went to another wrist specialist who didn't believe that it was an auto immune disease. He sent us to a neurologist who did a complete nerve and tendon test and confirmed that she had Carpal Tunnel syndrome. She recommends vitamin B6 300mg a day, wrist braces, rest and to set up an ergonomic distance learning desk. With 3 weeks, (after months of pain and many tests, doctor visits) she was feeling much better. In closing, Dr. Besh treated me and my 15-year-old daughter in the worst manner possible. He did not care for her wellness, pain and refused to listen to her. He was cruel and mean to a child and disrespectful to me who was trying to advocate for my daughter. That is not acceptable behavior for anyone let alone a doctor!! I feel like he let his ego get in the way. We never received an apology. read more

I can't express how much I appreciate Dr Besh and the people in his office everyone made me feel at ease. I was in control of my pain and my pain management. I had 3 actual visits about 4 weeks apart and therapy with Josh Ramos when it was determined that I needed surgery on my right hand. As this was my predominant hand I was hoping that we would not have to have this happen but because IT IS my prominent hand this is why it was important that I have it done. Even though I was a little nervous and reluctant his office made me very comfortable with my decision and encouraged me throughout the whole procedure. When surgery finally came around they greeted me warmly with very little paperwork as they took care of it before I came in and I was out within a half a day I was home and resting and back at the doctor's office three days later removing heavy bandages and meeting with therapist to start recovery. I can't say enough good things about Dr Besh and his staff. They are a well oiled machine and very professional and friendly. Thank you for help and continuing to me with my hands. After having a not so good experience with Palo Alto Medical, I searched for a Hand Surgeon and found Dr. Besh. I am so glad I stepped out of the box (go to PAMF for everything)! The staff and Dr. Besh are very friendly and knowledgeable. My first visit was for a consul and had xrays and an MRI. We decided to wait for any cortisone injections till after the MRI results. I immediately went home, giddy about my new find and told my husband that he's switching hand doctors and go for his surgery with this doctor. I brought my husband with me for the 2nd visit because I was getting the injections. I called the office before leaving the house to ask by chance if they had any room to squeeze him in, but they apologized and said he is scheduled for surgery shortly after my visit. When I saw the doc, we spoke about seeing David and scheduling surgery. As we were making appointments for him, the Dr. told who assistant Kim (who rocks!) that he can see Dave. Will you have a wait while you are there? Possibly. I did, but not too long, and was well worth it. Dr. Besh immediately apologized too which goes a long way. He spends a great deal of time with you and is very detailed. The entire team there is awesome! read more
