I think the items are well priced for the quality. I judge the quality (fabric composition, stitching, outer and inner construction) to be somewhere around an Akira or a Zara. The vibe in the shop gives me Regine Hunter meets the whole cast of Insecure with just a dash of some hot girl sh!t. I've only been here once and I'm looking forward to coming through on a Saturday. The owner let me and my friend know that it's a champagne shopping experience on Saturdays and I'm here for it!

And if you're particularly brave, I suppose you could strut your stuff after trying something on. The clothing is on what I'd call the skimpier end. Not to say they don't have some fun and funky stuff that would cover you up nicely, but it's clothing that would fit easily into a suitcase and still leave room for half a room. Catch my drift? There is always a rack of clothing on serious clearance out front and super cool music wafting through the store. I am always lured in by the lovely dresses in the window.

Apparently at Pitaya, standing at the register with clothes in your hand isn't enough to indicate…read morethat you'd like to check out. You also need to make the appropriate amount of eye contact with Erica. We were standing at the register clearly ready to purchase our items, but Erica told us she "didn't know" we wanted to check out because we weren't looking at her. When I questioned how that made sense, she decided I was being "aggressive." Thankfully, I started recording after that accusation. The video shows me speaking to her calmly and normally, despite how unnecessarily difficult she was making a basic checkout. Then Erica announced that she didn't have to sell us the shirt. Fine! We started to leave. A woman who was there in a police uniform actually had to step in and encourage her to just complete the transaction. And somehow it got even more ridiculous: Erica took my payment and then didn't want to hand me the shirt I had literally just paid for. What should have been a two minute checkout turned into an entire production over eye contact. I've never experienced anything like it. Maybe customer service just isn't Erica's ministry.

Dot Dot Dash seems to be getting better with time, evolving from a purveyor of soft clothing and childrens' items into a style powerhouse, still with affordable and unexpected finds.
