It is a whole roasted pig, famous for its incredibly crispy, crackling skin and tender, flavorful juicy meat, flavored with aromatics like lemongrass, garlic, and onion stuffed inside. It is slow roasted over charcoal, adding more flavor to this delicious food. I was craving for Lechon so I asked my friend to take me to a Filipino Restaurant in Little Manila. We went to Wilson's Haus of Lechon. As we go inside the restaurant, we were greeted and welcomed by a smiling couple as they prepare the dishes to be served for the day. They seated us and gave the menus. We looked at the menu and they have multiple combo (combination) meals to choose from, from breakfast favorites, to lechon combo. Some of the breakfast combos, served with fried egg and fried rice were, Tapsilog, Tocilog, Spamsilog, Cornedsilog, Longsilog, and Bangsilog. They also have halohalo for dessert but I was very full, maybe I will try it next time I visit. Homey and family style ambiance and atmosphere, warm welcome and Filipino Hospitality at its best. Check it out!

If you ever have a chance to try a Kamayan Feast aka Boodle Fight, you gotta go for it!…read more This Filipino feast is a mouth watering assortment of grilled meats, seafood, grilled veggies, fresh fruit and rice served on top of banana leaves. You wash your hands and dive right in with no utensils. It's definitely much more fun when you do it with a bunch of good friends whose hygiene you trust. They do provide gloves or utensils if you can't handle eating with your bare hands. Now to the review: it's a clean restaurant that's nicely decorated with Filipino music playing in the back ground. They have a patio during the warm months and can acommodate big groups. Free WiFi and a small parking lot in the back with free street parking after 4pm. The servers are as sweet as can be. They want you to enjoy your experience so they'll observe you from afar, all you need to do is make eye contact or raise your hand and they'll come. They've improved on their presentation and the food is ok. Price for the Kamayan is $16 per head and believe me, you WILL be stuffed by the end of your meal. Ready, set ATTACK!

We were just lucky to get in on time. My daughter always wants tapsilog anytime we are in these type of joints and mother goose of course craves for the lechon kawali which I'm sure all Filipinos would've named it 'lechon KAWHI' if it hadn't been for his homesick ways and dislike to Canadian weather (I sound bitter don't I?) Moving on to the serving portions, holy big massive slices of pork and the rice poundings at this place went by kilos it seemed. Good crunch and taste all around. When observing other diners, most have ordered the 'kamayan feast' but seeing that we brought my little Godzilla with us, he will happily join in thinking it's play time on a massive version of his high chair so we settled for the a la carte and it didn't disappoint. This place has lots of potential! Very cozy and great for small gatherings under group of 10 or I'm sure you could book off the entire dining area if you were to host a private party. They have a separate area upon entering in where takeouts can be placed. The food is displayed like most Filipino dishes under heat lamps and they have a lot of artery blocking fiestas like the crispy pata and more fried entrees. It could improve on the service factor though, many times we had to remind them for sauce and cutlery which became irritating as the response was unapologetic followed with a few sighs and strong exhales of unwanted breath on my forehead but hunger summoned all devils to be gone and ignore negative aura. Seriously though, this is where my fellow Filipinos lack experience, the friendly and courteous manner that produces pleasant costumer relations is a factor many times overlooked and should be enhanced during training and practice all throughout employment in the food service. If they nail this, we can probably have a bigger chance in breaking through stereotypes that prevent other Filipinos from supporting restaurants from their very own. Will be back to try out their kamayan feature soon, I'm bringing the fam bam next time minus the toddler.

Bale Kapampangan serves traditional, authentic dishes that are specialties of Pampanga (a province…read morein Central Luzon in the Philippines, widely known as the culinary capital of the Philippines and famous for inventing iconic dishes such as sisig and creating breakfast staples such as tocino). The menu is extensive and contains dishes that are not commonly seen in other Filipino restaurants in the GTA, including unique dishes such as Tamales Bobotu (Kapampangan delicacy made of ground rice, coconut milk, and savoury filling, wrapped in banana leaf), Champorado (warm chocolate rice porridge with milk and dried fish), Buro (fermented rice with grilled fish), Seafood Gambas, Bringhe (Kapampangan paella), Tinolang Tugak (frogs soup), Tinoloang Suso (snails soup), and more. There is free parking in the plaza shared with other Filipino businesses (right next door to a other Filipino restaurants (including Kabalen), a Filipino grocery store, and bakery), but it tends to get busy, especially on weekends. The interior was nice, bright, clean, and modern-looking. Service was very friendly and all servers seemed very jolly, helpful, courteous, and all-round great. There were fresh fish and seafood on ice for display and selecting if you choose to get market fish/seafood, and you could choose the cooking style: inahaw (grilled), baked, ginataang (with coconut milk), kinilaw (ceviche), escabeche (with tangy vinegar-based sauce), or sinigang (sour soup). Fish and seafood selection included salmon, tuna, pompano, red snapper, lobster, and oysters. They did say that most of the dishes would come out in about 30 minutes, except for the Buro Platter which would take 45 minutes to cook (because it included a whole grilled catfish). We were ok with the wait as everything was made fresh to order. They gave complimentary boiled peanuts to every table while we were waiting for the food to cook. Review of all the dishes we tried: 1) Tinolang Tugak (frogs soup cooked with bok choy, chayote, ginger, garlic, onion) - This came in a huge pot where the server poured the broth into the pot on the table. There were a TON of frogs in this soup. I really liked the soup broth - very gingery and comforting, which would be perfect on a cold winter day. I loved the vegetables it came with (bok choy, chayote, and visible pieces of ginger). 2) Buro Platter (popular dish in Pampanga - whole grilled catfish with buro (fermented rice), lettuce wraps, and assorted blanched vegetables) - This was the star of the meal. It was a huge portion, perfect for sharing with 3-4 people. The catfish was grilled to perfection, and went really well with the buro. I liked the taste of the fermented rice, and the soft texture made it taste like comfort food. I loved the assortment of blanched vegetables that came with the platter: okra, eggplant, sponge gourd, and bitter melon. This wholesome dish was definitely worth the long wait. 3) Bringhe / "Kapampangan Paella" - Inspired by the Spanish paella, the Kapampangan version had a unique twist in that it used glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk and turmeric (which gave its yellow colour), simmered in rich annatto broth, and topped with various seafood (large prawns, mussels, squid, whole crab legs, sliced boiled egg, and bell peppers). It was flavourful and I liked the seafood that it was topped with, but I preferred the rice in the traditional Spanish / Valencia-style paella more. It was good to try the Kapampangan version / their unique take on paella though. 4) Sapsuey - My usual go-to vegetables dish every time I come to any Filipino restaurant. Here, they were able to separate the thick gravy sauce from the vegetables (by request). I loved the assorted blanched vegetables (asparagus, cauliflower, broccoli, snow peas, bell peppers, long beans, cabbage, corn) with fish balls, shrimps, and quail eggs - perfect without any sauce. 5) Lobster a la Pobre (steamed lobster sautéed with sliced mushrooms, onions, and spices) - They gave us seafood claw crackers and plastic gloves for this dish, which we appreciated. There wasn't much lobster meat though... there were 2 claws and a lobster head but we barely found any lobster meat. It was 90% mushrooms. I found this dish to be VERY salty; it was my least favourite dish out of everything that we ordered. 6) Raw Oysters - 6 small raw oysters as appetizer. They were okay - as expected for raw oysters. They came served with optional vinegar and Tabasco sauce. Overall, this was a five-stars restaurant serving unique dishes that were Kapampangan specialties that we could not find in other Filipino restaurants in the area. Great quality, awesome and friendly service, and large variety of menu items to choose from. I loved that every dish contained some sort of vegetables (I love my veggies!). Everything was colourful and plated beautifully. I'd come back again to try their other dishes that we didn't have room for in the first round.

Higher end ambience, decor and table placement makes it great for special occasions (accidentally walked in just BEFORE a person arrived for their surprise bday dinner / was wondering why a group at the door had their cellphones out, standing & smiling?! YES!), pinakbet (peanut sauce pork & vegs), palabok (rice noodles /deconstructed?), seafood sisig, galic rice, dinuguan and my drink was a buko pandan (herbal coconut drink) Love all their their slight twists to the traditional versions - all fresh, delicious and plated beautifully Will definitely come back again!
