All scanner self checkout is a horrible decision for this location! Bad idea! This is a small community with many older residents. We don't want to check out our own groceries. Advisement on purchasing meat from Bashas. This store doesn't handle their fresh meat with care. We purchased a beef brisket with getting ready to prepare with opening to the most foul odor. It was so bad that we had all to do to get it out of our home. Grateful that it wasn't eaten as it would have more than gotten everyone violently ill or worse. Sorry to have purchased meat at a second rate grocery store. Beware to not purchase anything from this meat counter. Time to contact the state health department. The floral department at Basha's in Carefree (and Christine in particular) is absolutely amazing. After trying to work with a number of different florists for a small wedding and not feeling particular satisfied, I finally ran into Bashas for groceries and realized their flower department was amazing. The "off the shelf" designs in the coolers are gorgeous so I decided to ask if they could help with my wedding flowers. Christine was so much more professional and creative than every other florist I talked to. She ended up doing all the flowers for my wedding and the results were STUNNING. I felt that she truly cared about my wedding and making sure I got the results I wanted. I could not be more happy (and the prices were so much more reasonable). I was very disappointed with my shopping experience here. I was in the area and couldn't find herbs at my local supermarket so I dropped in to pick up herbs here. They did have herbs but there wasn't any hand sanitizer or wipes anywhere. Even the 99cent store offers sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer. This also was the only supermarket that still uses the moving belt without sanitizing. The cashier also put his hands all over my purchase without gloves. They had some empty shelves like all the other supermarkets. This is not a safe place to shop during the pandemic. read more

If you're looking for a local grocery store with great customer service look elsewhere. I drove over 20 miles to get a filet roast that was advertised on sale. They were out but told me they were expecting a delivery the next day. I asked if I could reserve one and come back tomorrow and get it. The manager of the meat department chuckled as if that was an absurd ask and said no. He recommended me look elsewhere, or call another Basha's location. This Basha store has just undergone a great renovation . It's always clean,everything is easy to find, and it's small enough to get in and out fast..except for today when we decided to sit a bit ,get huge iced teas and share a cannoli. For a chain grocery, they do a terrific job giving this Basha's a home-town feel. I love the employees there--so friendly and helpful. The deli staff is awesome and Jim makes a mean sandwich! I work in Carefree and eat lunch there 3 or 4 times a week--always something good to eat. Their chef cooks a special lunch every day, including a green salad. Always a problem trying to order pizza from Basha's. Either I'm on hold & no one in the department ever picks up or tonight, I called at 7:45PM & the department is closed. This is a nice, clean store and one of the few places I can buy sprouts. The cashiers are always super nice and friendly. One time I was looking for an advertised item and couldn't find it, so I asked a stock person walking by. She looked, couldn't find it, went and got the manager. He looked, couldn't find it, the next thing I know, he's got three or four people looking for the item. I was kind of embarrassed---I was only going to buy a couple. When they couldn't find the item, the manager told me to buy a different brand of the same item and he would honor the sale price. I ended up buying triple the quantity because they had all tried so hard and gone to so much trouble. But that's the kind of folks they are---helpful to the nth degree. The meat counter makes these yummy prepared chicken breasts---an easy dinner. Just take 'em home and throw 'em in the oven or on the grill. A couple of times I have gone in and and requested a kind they didn't have made up. The meat counter folks sent me off to cruise the store for a few minutes and they whipped me up a couple to order. The meat guy also told me if I call ahead and they don't have them at that moment, they'll have them ready for me when I get there. That's service! However---the deli. DH and I love the chicken salad. Extraordinary good stuff. But the ladies behind the deli counter are usually grumpy, unfriendly, not-very-helpful people. They act like they are doing you a favor to wait on you. The best of the lot is this 30-ish girl with long dark hair---she tries to be helpful and cheerful. The good news is after a lot of experimenting, I think I have figured out the secret of the chicken salad---or so DH says---so I only need to hit the deli when I just don't have the time or ambition to rock out my own chicken salad. The wine selection is very good and they have some great sales. So, since I can avoid the deli if I want, overall, this is a great Basha's. read more

I used to shop at Safeway and spend a ton of money every week. Bashas opened early during the covid pandemic and supported health care workers and first responders so that we can care for our communities. I have definitely switched to shopping here and encourage others to do the same. read more

I wish I could give this 0 stars. I have never been so disrespected at a grocery store ever before!!! I very politely asked Ms.Tammie J., Who was working at cash register 4, if her register was still open because the light was off while she was still checking another woman out. She looked up at me, rolled her eyes and replied "yes." She used an extremely annoyed tone the rest of the time she was checking out the other woman. When she was done, and it was my turn, another man came over named Eric. She asked Eric when she was ever getting out of here. She never said another word to us as she walked away from our groceries that have yet been checked out. Eric continued for her. He was no better!! This is our go-to store. Normally everything is ok. Who is buying the produce?? I like to make a big fresh salad and the broccoli tasted like chemicals. So bad I had to spit it out. I would assume that with salad dressing all over it I wouldn't have noticed. The sweet peas were very old, dried out and weird tasting. Gave them to the rabbits. Everything else was just ok. The best of the best for the highest quality products and produce. This is a smaller but more elite store location modeled after the AJ's but a little more home town. They have everything. There is the most amazing Sushi to be found anywhere. A salad & soup bar, bakery and deli, great wine and alcohol selection and excellent customer service. The ice tea selection at the deli is the top of the line or saunter over to the other side of the store and grab something from AJs. Take it all to the patio and sit by the fountain to enjoy a great lunch or time with friends. This is an amazing store. read more

I've shopped at Basha's twice in my life. Both times I've wound up with nasty mold-covered produce. In the case of this location, my (overpriced, BTW) strawberries were covered in green fuzz within 8 hours of purchase. I know this could happen anywhere - sometimes you just have bad luck and strawberries can go off pretty quickly - but twice from one store is too much for me. The deli/bistro in this store is awful. Customer service is non-existent. I have been here on many occasions because I work close by and every time I get helped juuuuuust as I consider leaving empty handed because I've waited so long while being ignored. The first really bad trip was for breakfast. When I finally got helped, I ordered a number 1 from the sign. She said "well what do you want in it?" I said..."whatever the sign said was in a number 1." She replied that she didn't know, and couldn't see the sign so I should just tell her what I want. So, I chose a few items I saw in the hot case. She charged extra for biscuits & gravy...you'd THINK that if she knew those didn't come with a number 1, that must mean she has SOME idea what DOES. As she scooped my food, she proceeded to talk to a co-worker saying "I don't even know why we MAKE breakfast anymore. Nobody buys it. It just sits around & gets old, then we throw it all away." That's just what I like to hear when I'm buying some of it, right? When I got to work with my breakfast I found that she was right on the money: potatoes overdone and dried out, biscuits & gravy was gross, & eggs were crusty/dry and old. My last trip was the final straw. I stood in line behind 1 man. After he was helped, the woman completely ignored me, walked over to another part of the counter, helped a lady there, then proceeded to chat with her about some guy they both know, the day they are having, etc... I waited until they were finished socializing. She finally came back, looked at me, then looked at the man off to the side BEHIND me, and asked if he had been helped. He said he was just waiting. So finally she asked if I had been helped. Uhhh...well lady, you're the ONLY one helping people and you have helped everyone BUT me including people behind me, so NOOOOOO...I have not. I got a single slice of pizza, which was not very fresh. I also stopped by the seafood counter before I left. I thought I might get some Cajun crab dip. I stood there for a while listening to the seafood lady chat with a customer about how the government sucks and the economy is bad...finally I left with no dip. It is my understanding that Bashas used to be the only store in town. They must still think they are because they certainly don't act like there is any competition. Unfortunately for them. there are lots of other stores that I am more than willing to drive a little extra to get to from now on to avoid the crappy customer service here. read more

This store is clean and ok if you need to pick up something quick. I have never found the staff to be overly friendly. Almost every time i have been ready to check out the cashier has slapped her "this lane closed" sign up on the counter as i walked up to check out. No one else in the store speaks, smiles or asks if they can help you. Not what i would expect given the clientele they deal with. This is why i shop Safeway a majority of the time. The store has been nicely remodeled and the employees are kind. It's a good place to pick up something quickly. BUT, since the remodel the deli dept. has gone downhill. Service is horrible (long waits) and the nightly chef dinners are not good anymore. They taste like frozen food. Probably will be avoiding the deli dept in the future. read more

It's the closest store around, so it would be nice to be able to rely on it but you can't. Almost every time I shop there, something is moldy, expired, rotten in some way. This location is nicely remodeled and looks like an AJ's. The Starbucks is well-run and patio is nice. The bakery however is really poor. I went in to buy a birthday cake and asked the lady (Linda) if she could write Happy Birthday on the cake. She says "No, not really. Because my writing is really messy." Um, well the 16 year old kid at Safeway put it this way, Linda: "Of course, but my writing is not the best. Is that OK?" I then told Linda I don't mind sloppy writing and asked if she could just do it anyway. Her reply: "Oh well that's going to take me at least 15-20 minutes because I don't have the icing." Seriously Linda? You work in a bakery and have no icing? Why the hell did you guys remodel the store to be like AJ's if you're going to staff with people like that?! The 16 year old kid at Safeway rushed to complete my cake in about 3 minutes. He could not have been more accommodating or courteous and he probably cost less to employ. Also, the Bashas bakery was cluttered and filthy and several cakes were missing or out of stock. It looked like the place was going out of business. And it was not busy. I suggest Bashas get rid of Lazy Linda and put a competent, polite hard worker in your bakery if you want local customers to return. read more

I live in the area and enjoy ordering pizza from Bashas'. However, the customer service in the deli/prepared foods section is terrible. The past FIVE times I have ordered a pizza from here the toppings have been incorrect and I order pizza from here twice a month. Usually, I return home to find one or all of my toppings that I ordered incorrect. This past time the lady was nice enough to admit the mistake and made me another pizza before I left. I appreciated that, but the amount of times this has happened is ridiculous... I will no longer order pizza from this location until the service is cleaned up. read more
