The restaurant has two levels, with the upper level overseeing the lower one. We walked in without a reservation and they accommodated us (party of 7). Very professional staff to say the least. They offer food by both a menu and per person formula, where you can pick a salad (tabbouleh or fattoush), two cold mezza, two hot mezza, 4 skewers of grilled meat of either filet mignon, chicken kafta, beef kafta, or shish taouk, and a dessert, all for two people for 60 Canadian dollars per person. You can pick any combination of skewers, cold mezza and hot mezza. Food came quickly. Everything was perfectly prepared, from the mezza to the grilled meat on charcoal, and finally the dessert. Will come back later for sure.

First time at Balila, a new Lebanese breakfast place in Laval north of Montreal…read more Service was quick. We came in without reservation and we were seated without any delay. We tried the foul (fava beans), fatteh, lahm b ajin, fried eggs with tomato. All were delicious and made to perfection. When we're done eating, the server offered us a dessert on the house. It included halawit el jibn and ousmalieh in addition to riz b halib and jello. The place is not that large but it can probably fit about 100 people. Fairouz songs were playing in the background bringing back memories of homeland. It was a great experience. Will definitely come back again to try other items on the menu.

Servers are very nice and they kept check in. The ambiance is welcoming and they have nice murals around. Their "foul salad" is so good and very well seasoned. The Fatayer is super thin and nice (maybe too thin lol) their fatteh is good and so was their grilled cheese. Overall it was a pleasant meal and if you are in the area it's a nice spot to check out

We wanted to try the sharing menu but we were refused because we were only 2 and there was no notes of that on the menu. We ordered our food, mezze and mains.... they didn't wait abit to bring the mains, we were still eating the mezzes when that came, we felt rushed even tho there was so many ppl at the restaurant. The eggplant dip was not good at all. But the rest of the food was good. When we finished eating we waiting approximately 30 mins to come clean up the table, we weren't even offered to get some dessert, we asked about getting one of there dessert but apparently they didn't have. We asked to get 2 bills but we only got 1, we wanted to pay and leave but the waiter was nowhere to be found. I think the service was not good at all and for that I don't think I'll be coming back. We didn't feel welcome at all.

Walking in,…read moreyou'll find all the different sorts of middle eastern treats waiting to get devoured on your left, at the far end, they have a variety of Lebanese items one can get done, fresh, in front of you if you have the time to enjoy it. I went with the Lahmajin which consist of a round, thin piece of dough topped with minced meat, minced vegetables and herbs including onions, tomatoes and parsley as well as the Za'atar manakeesh which consists of thyme, sesame seeds and the sumac spice. Both were fantastic! Why? Well, they prepared it right in front of me, popped it in the oven for a few minutes then rolled it up NICE AND WARM into my eager hands. The Za'atar was good, the Lahmajin was out of this world good. The price tag? About 2 bucks each... and they were pretty fulfilling. They sell packs of 6 for $10, this is a steal of a deal! I looked around while waiting and the prices were phenomenal. How is there not a line-up out of the door for this? There's even about 15 seats to enjoy your meal.... I think I found a joint I can visit at least once a week now. :)

Why they put it in plastic bags on the table is a mystery and not especially classy. Very little explanation that everything is served family style. If I wanted family style dining, I would have stayed home and cooked. We had a pricey vegetarian appetizer plate where most of the foods tasted too vinegary or garlicky. The eggplant salad tasted more of onion than eggplant. The fish was pretty good but by the time it finally came, I wasn't hungry anymore. The rice had no flavour and the fries, although nicely crisp also were tasteless. The taste I had of my partner's chocolate cake was good but cold in the middle as if it wasn't fully defrosted. The service was friendly yet not attentive. We had to ask for soda twice before it came. The constant reel of what I think was Lebanese music videos projected on the wall were a visually loud distraction from the overall lack of ambiance. The happy birthday music they play was fun, but we're not coming back.
