Nurse thanked me and said she would forward to the provider (Catherine Matkowski). On Monday at 8:30 am the office sets up a video call for 3pm. At 2pm, the provider sends a MyChart message that nobody has responded to the nursing staff and she doesn't have the information from me, but filled out the form to the best of her ability. Nobody shows up to the 3pm video visit. Is it possible that nobody in this office talks to each other? I called to follow up to see if the nurse gave the info to the provider. The male office staff continues to read my conversation verbatim. "Can we ask the nurse if she gave the information to the provider?" He proceeds to read my the messages from MyChart again. I thank him but let him know that I have access and ask if he can ask whether the nurse gave me the information to the provider he reads me the same message from MyChart...that he just read... which implies that the nurse did NOT give the information to the provider. He refuses to let me talk to anyone else and keeps interrupting and talking over me. While I have REALLY enjoyed Michelle Alvarado and Jacklyn Rector, I am hesitant to recommend this office as it seems nobody talks to each other and the male reception staff is argumentative, dismissive of women, and unable to answer simple questions.

When I complained loudly that he was not listening to me about this issue, he chastised me essentially for being hysterical. He was very rude and unprofessional. I'm sorry I'm upset but I'm in pain! In those 3 years, he could never remember what job I did and his staff couldn't even remember I was a woman. Best part is after this incident I was sent a letter from his practice telling me I was no longer welcome. As if I was going to go back?! Funny enough others had told me that he was very rude but I guess I had to get burned before moving to action and finding another doctor.

However, she has since left. The front-desk folks were nice enough. Cons: Everything else. I have struggled with my mental health for years and went to refill my antidepressants that have worked for me for years. I figured it would be a simple visit, get my refill, go on my merry way. Nope. Dr. Buchinsky sat down across from me and asked if I grew up going to church (?) and suggested that the Bible would ultimately be more helpful to me than medication ever would. I was so stunned in that moment but just needed my medication. I will never go back. Now I'm in the process of having to find a new PCP and haven't been to Manassas Family Medicine in over a year; however, reflecting on this experience inspired me to write this because it was so unprofessional. Unless you are a conservative Christian who can tolerate having your condition invalidated because you don't subscribe to the same beliefs - literally go ANYWHERE else. It's 2021. I'm sure they have old-school clientele who are appreciative of this but not me. Terrible.

Have been going to Battlefield Family Medicine for the past two years, and can't say enough great…read morethings about Dr. Tavani. He's the best. But there is definite problem at the front desk. A single individual, Mary Lou, is pushing patients away with her unprofessional, crass, disrespectful and downright rude behavior. She has behaved this way with not only myself, but to our friends who we recommend to go to Battlefield Family Medicine. I have put up with it to this point, only because of how much I appreciate the care and service by Dr. Tavani. But in my last ordeal with this front desk individual, Mary Lou, she lost it. At a visit a month ago, I went ahead and scheduled an annual physical for August 2024. At that time, she mentioned that my last physical was last year in September. She stated that I would have to contact my Insurance provider to ensure they did not have a 365 day policy in between physicals. I had never heard of this before, but called nevertheless. When I called and my insurance provider, they said there was no such stipulation. I called the front office back and told this to Mary Lou. She said fine, and that was that. Come the day of my 11am appointment, she calls me and says that she needs to cancel my physical appointment. She explained that she had called the insurance that morning and had been told that there was a 365 days requirement in between physicals. I told her I'd call her back. I then called the insurance provider once again, had them three-way the call to the medical office, and had them explain to her that there was no such requirement. ONE PHYSICAL PER CALENDAR YEAR! I thought that was the end of that, until I got there. When I arrived for my appointment, she said that I would need to leave my financial credit card information on file with them to access at their discretion, and that this was a brand new policy. I told them flat out NO! She said they were having problems with others not paying their copays and were just now implementing this policy. I told her that this was an issue with certain individuals, but not with me. She then went on saying that I had caused my appointment to be delayed because the discussion we had over her confusion on one physical appt per calendar year for my insurance and my refusal to have my financial information on file with them. She continued to behave rudely and obnoxiously with me, to the point, I told her that's enough. I'm done being treated in this manner, and that I no longer felt comfortable with their office. I told her that Dr. Tavani was as awesome they come. HE REALLY IS GREAT! But unfortunately I could no longer put up with Mary Lous' continuous behavior and unprofessionalism. She really does not belong in front of patients or for that matter, any client interface. She is truly unfit for that position. And judging from many other reviews I've seen, I am not the only one who's had to deal with her less than stellar behavior. Again for anyone reading this review, Dr. Tavani is one of the best doctors I and my family have ever seen. Just the best. But unless you are willing to deal with rudeness, attitude, and continuous confrontation at the front desk by Mary Lou, I would suggest other more professional patient treatment elsewhere. Don't take my word for it, see the other reviews, or better yet, go to their office and see it for yourself.

I think a two star is pretty generous since I can't actually recommend this medical office (I'll…read moreexplain why I felt like I had the rug pulled out from underneath me--basically spent several hundreds of dollars for turmoil and a lack of transparency). Dr Tavani (hope I spelled that right) and his staff are very nice and polite, and I do think this office is okay for minor things such as sinus infections, things like that. However, when I went to him for a sleeping disorder (insomnia), I was hopeful when he started asking me questions really trying to diagnose what was going on. He did tell me that he didn't think I had sleep apnea but a reverse sleep cycle and asked if I wanted to do testing or if I wanted prescribed sleep meds or both. I opted for both because I wanted to know how to fix the root cause and not just rely on sleeping pills. I did the sleep study and I took the prescribed sleep meds which did not help, they didn't make me sleep or feel drowsy but they did make me feel ill. So I contacted him about that via their medical portal that both him and his staff regularly talk about, telling him about the sleep meds--I didn't hear anything back from him about it. Over a month goes by and I still haven't heard anything from him about the prescribed sleep meds or my test results. So I call about the results and I'm told that my test didn't show sleep apnea so my case was closed. Which was confusing, 'case closed' like my insomnia went away, when did this happen? It didn't explain why I didn't get a call about the results and what the next step would be. As I'm talking to the front desk, I do receive some mixed reasonings such as I was overdue for a wellness exam--that doesn't explain why the doctor didn't contact me about the results of the test he recommended I take. Another reasoning was because my wellness exam (that was scheduled) was so far out, calendar wise, from my initial appointment for insomnia, that is why there was such a lengthy amount of time for me to hear my results--that didn't seem reasonable as I was never contacted to make an appointment or come in sooner to talk about my results when they arrived. Lastly, after all this conversation, there was still no effort to talk to me promptly about my results and the next steps; it seemed that the only thing I could do was bump up my wellness appointment which would have been over a week out to address him about the insomnia and the results--so I called the company who sends out the results. Turns out the test I was sent out for was to target and specifically identify sleep apnea even though the symptoms that I described in our initial meeting didn't really match with sleep apnea. Now I understand that for a sleeping disorder you want to rule everything out, but when I'm told that it's believed that I don't have sleep apnea (which I agree with), but most likely a reverse sleep disorder and find out that I received a test specifically designed to target sleep apnea and then do not hear anything back about the results especially in a timely manner and don't hear anything about further steps to solve this problem (it's been over a month since the test), and only hear 'case closed' because I didn't have sleep apnea, I felt misled and like I had the carpet pulled out from underneath my feet. The front desk tried to tell me it was miscommunication, however is it really miscommunication when you don't communicate at all? It really seemed like dropping the ball.
