Well, it pumps up with air and then you release the air with a button to take it off. It was too confusing for her to use it so she just stopped! I took her in for a follow up appointment and told Dr. Peterson that this boot was too difficult for her to use. He said he would give her an ankle brace so she could still wear her shoe. Dr Peterson did a thorough exam and we felt like he listened to our concerns. We then we're handed off to an assistant who fitted an ankle brace on mom. It had shoelace ties that you didn't have to tie (thank goodness) and multiple Velcro straps that wrap around under your arch snd back to the ankle area. Ok, we'll give this one a try. By the next day it was clear that this ankle brace was too difficult for mom to put on herself as well. I ended up going to a medical supply pharmacy and buying one off the shelf that is a little easier for mom to manage. At least she will wear the over the counter model, which is better than not wearing one at all. We have a follow up appointment in a couple of weeks so hopefully the ligaments around her ankle have had time to heal. Overall we had a good experience at Suburban Orthopedics.

The practice has a 15 minute grace period yet I still called to tell them I was 5-10 minutes behind. They said that was fine. Then as I was already on my way, they called me to tell me to reschedule. I had broken my toe since my last appointment and my visit was probably going to take longer than expected. Would I have been thrown out if I had taken the extra time? It's hard to imagine that quality care can be given if they are counting the minutes that way. I understand the need to be on time. However as a long time patient, I would think that some grace can be given. Also, why have a policy at all if the practice doesn't abide by it ?! Extremely angry and annoyed.

She is very professional, personable and knows what she's doing. I feel that she has given me the best care I could have asked from a doctor. She started out by treating and monitoring the toes. After the issue didn't reslove itself she put me in custom orthotics and special shoes with extra room for them which resulted in the issues became managable with regular visits. After I had been seeing her for a while and before I got in the habit of checking my feet every day (i.e. my fault not hers) one of my big toes became severly infected and she was not sure if she could save the toe. It took two months due to my health issues but she stuck with it and it's fine now as long as I wear my orthotics and follow her advice. While under her care I've had two times where a toe was not looking good and both times she fit me in ASAP (the same or next day) and took care of the issue. I went for an ingrown toenail and had my boyfriend drive me, for his sake I asked him to stay in the car. I got to the exam room and once I asked about permanent removal they went looking for the solution and never found it after making me wait 10+ minutes. They told me they'll do a removal and did, but if I wanted a permanent one I'd have to come back again and pay again. WHO would be okay with this? After I waited in the office with getting handed some directory papers for cleaning by the nurse and waited for someone since no one had said anything. I waited 20 MINUTES and had the hop to the front desk for help and the desk lady looks like she doesn't wanna help, didn't care and asked out loud "can someone help her" without even looking at me. Eventually a nurse came and asked what was wrong, and I thought I'd be getting a surgical shoe since I've gotten one before with no fee. The nurse asked another nurse and that nurse asks the doctor. 5 minutes waiting there the doctors comes back to me standing on one foot in the hallway with other patients walking by. I told them I thought I'd get a surgical shoe and no one told me if I could leave. She said "I never give out surgical shoes" and I corrected her with she did the last time I was there.
