Bartlett & Steadman were amazing on the install of my new central A/C. A great experience from Rose in the office to Jason, Kyle, Michael, Tye and Oliver on the install. Jason and his installation team are extremely knowledgeable, polite well-spoken, organized and neat. They answered all questions with clarity and detail. I was home the 3 days of install due to office renovation and have to say we both were overly pleased having the team in our house. Usually this is not the case with contractors. This is my first review as I am very demanding and usually do not have anything good to say so I do not say anything at all. Bartlett & Steadman provides a superior level of service. We are extremely pleased with our new system. Thanks Arthur read more

Bartlett & Steadman Plumbing, Heating & AC - NEW AC - Plumbing Near Me - Marblehead, Massachusetts

See all

Thieves! I have a forced hot air gas-furnace, with an A-coil on top. Had been having a problem where my heating system was unable to maintain 70 deg when the temps got down into the single digits... then in the summer I had the opposite problem where my AC system was unable to keep up on really hot days, and eventually the A-coil froze up (block of ice). Had Bartlett & Steadman come take a look at the system in August of 2024... what a mistake and waste of time & money. They charged $600 to do an 'system assessment & inspection'. Their version of an inspection was to stand 6 feet away and look at the furnace... they ONLY did a visual, didn't look for error codes, literally just "looked" at the system. Immediately told me that the system was "old" and not worth working on or fixing (it was installed new in 2009... WTF!!!). They said it would be best to replace the whole system... furnace & AC... For the unbelievably low price of $22,000. I laughed at the salesman and walked him to the door... They just want to sell new systems, but they'll have to look for a sucker somewhere else... Turns out the problem was a clogged A-coil. Simple 1-hour job to remove the built up lint, dust, etc. I waited till now to post because I can now say with certainty that cleaning the A-coil fixed the problem. End of last summer the AC system kept the house cool on the hottest days, and now on the single digit nights the house is toasty warm. The system is working like new, with no problems. These guys are either dishonest or incompetent. Either way don't trust them, they will rip you off. Too bad many service providers are dishonest, you just have to find an honest one that you can trust, but still verify.... Bartlett & Steadman Plumbing are incompetent or thieves, take your business elsewhere, it's the only way to force the thieves out of business.... good luck read more

I had an issue with my Bathroom sink drain, and Nick and Ozzie (from Bartlett and Steadman) came and fixed it. They were calm, professional and didn't stop working until the problem was solved. Highly recommend this team! read more

On November 14, I called Bartlett and Steadman Heating Service to come and fix my heating system which was not working. The initial cost would be $75 to diagnose the problem and then cost for parts and labor. The next day November 15 at 4pm, a technician arrived. He inspected my heating system. He was at my home for 1 hour. He made 3 phone calls to other technicians while at my home to get help on diagnosing the issue. I thought he must be a new technician as he didn't know what to do. At 5pm he said he could not diagnose the problem without spending more time to dismantle all the wiring which I would have to pay overtime wages to him. He said he still couldn't guarantee he could fix the issue once done. I refused for him to stay any longer as he was not resolving the issue and was pressing me for more money. He said I had to pay him $399 now for his service. I was astonished and expressed my disappointment with being charged so much for nothing but an hour he spent looking at the system with no repair. I requested to be billed for the service but he said I had to pay him immediately. So I did. It was very threatening and uncomfortable for me as I am a single senior woman. The next day November 16, I called the company and explained to them what had happened and told them I did not want them to process that payment. The representative on the phone was not helpful at all and said she would have the owner call me back. I never received a call from the owner and as of this writing I still have not. I reviewed my Credit card statement and they did charge me $399. read more

Great technicians--they know what they are doing, even on old or new equipment. However, the billing is a mystery. If you want a breakdown of materials and labor, good luck! Seems like a simple thing to me. read more

I am so upset with this company. I went to my city to check for my permit and they didn't pull one for my furnace (I always like to check for my family's safety). This could be so dangerous and told the guy did something wrong my family could die. I'm so mad and I will never have them come back. Definitely something shady going on with this business. Don't recommend. read more

Bartlett and Steadman has been my "go to" plumbing company from putting in my new high efficiency heating system, appliances requiring plumbers, and all small plumbing related issues. Yesterday I had a leak with an older faucet and Kyle came and fixed it! He was so knowledgeable, proficient and professional. Rose and Jessica in the office are also wonderful and handle all the phone calls and scheduling in a fast manner. Michael Steadman wonderful job with your professional skilled employees. Keep up the great work!! Thank you, Doreen read more

Today we had no hot water. We went downstairs to the basement to see what was wrong....but needed a small boat to get to the water heater. The basement was flooded from the rain and the water runoff from the hill behind us. We called Bartlett Steadman, and they had a team at our house in under 30 minutes. The guys (Jesse and I can't remember the other guy's name) were smart, fast, professional, and excellent at figuring out why we had an indoor lake in our basement. The sump pump was old and dying, not quite dead but limping so badly that it just couldn't get the gumption to pump our the water. They replaced the unit fast and thoroughly. Everything is shiny and lovely in our basement now...or at least it's no longer a lake. It's now just a dirt floor basement with a few stubborn spiders who insist on staying inside during the winter. Anyway, if they had not come when they did, the water would have risen higher...and destroyed our new heating system, which would have really made me sad. So, I am very grateful to Bartlett & Steadman and their team for the ultra fast response (honestly, they are this fast every time we call them), and they are the only plumber that we will use now. They may cost a little extra money, but the service is worth it. read more

I am so grateful to Bartlett & Steadman (and Jessie in particular!) for coming to my rescue last week before the storm. My Rinnai combi-boiler had quit and I was looking at facing the storm without heat or hot water. I live alone so that was a big deal - I had space heaters but if the electric quit I'd have been in trouble. They arrived promptly and fixed the problem within a couple of hours. So professional and nice too! I highly recommend. read more

I use to be in love with this company. But they have a guy named Dennis working for them who shows up, tells you that there is something wrong or that they dont have the part, or that they should have sent two men and sent one. Then the guy will talk to you for hours - not do any work - tell you he wont charge you then even though it was this guys procrastination - him talking to you- and then not even getting the job done they try and charge you. read more

After 50 years it was time for a new boiler. Jason took the time to explain all our options and work with with us on the most cost effective sollution. Jesse, Ollie, Tai and Collin came to do the work - what a pleasure. First they walked us through what they'd be doing and then they got to work. Kept us updated during installation, only without water for a short time. Job completed in the time frame given, left the furnace room/garage way cleaner than they found it and went above and beyond to make process easy. Great Job!!! read more

I would have given 5 stars as they are great and come on time. The only problem I would mention is their billing system is terrible. This the second time I received a statement indicating that I had a bill past due and it was incurring interest charges. I never got the bill in the first place!!! Luckily, they did rectify the problem and told me that they switched to a new system and they had problems with customers not receiving bills. They ended up only charging me for the amount of the original bill. I recommend that after you receive the service, you call the office and tell them to make sure they bill you instead of relying on them sending you the bill. read more

Yesterday Chris of Bartlett and Steadman came by my house to install a new kitchen faucet. He called before he arrived and showed up exactly on time. He was neat and organized and worked efficiently, keeping the kitchen neat and clean and leaving it exactly as he found it. He did a great job and I was quite pleased. Highly recommend Barlett and Steadman and Chris in particular. Great service! read more

This is a well run company with terrific plumbers and hvac guys working for them. The work is good, efficient, honest, and stress free. Having run into so many yahoos doing home 'repairs' over many years it has been such a pleasure to find these folks. I can't say enough good things about the way they accomplished the repairs to plumbing, heating, and ac at my house. And all the guys have been personable into the bargain. I have no idea whether they charge mor than others or not, but if they do it's worth it, since they do it right the first time. read more

My previous plumber retired. I was fortunate to find Bartlett and Steadman. I had gas furnace overhaul and sump pump correctly installed. Everyone from office to onsite plumbers were total pros and couldn't be nicer. On time, dependable and excellent prices. You won't go wrong with these guys. read more

They are always professional, on time and know what they are doing. We had a problem one summer weekend and a guy named "Steadman," presumably the owner (not Oprah's boyfriend) came over fixed it himself. It seems increasingly rare to receive that level of service these days. Keep up the good work. read more

I don't know what has happened at Bartlett & Steadman- we had used them for heating and air-conditioning services for the last ten years, and was always happy with their prompt and efficient response. That has recently changed- repeated calls to service our failed air conditioning have either gone unanswered or when they were answered, request for service ignored. I certainly will recommend to our condominium owners to look elsewhere for service. read more

I represent a church in M'head who contracts with BandS. We just came out of a regular situation which could have turned serious but they stayed with the problem, got parts, kept working, and it was all good well before 6pm on the same day after an 8:30 start. There had been scheduling challenges due to our calendar, and their office was quite persistent and patient. In this day and age it is good to have dependable plumbers, and electricians, who are local and who, and this is important, answer your phone calls. read more

Bartlett & Steadman replaced our old gas heating system and Rich did a fantastic job. He is hardworking and prides himself on doing an excellent job. He explained the workings of the heating system and was kind and patient to us who know very little. He even returned immediately after finishing up when he heard that my gas fireplace pilot went out and I couldn't get it to light. He showed me what to do in the future so I would never have this problem again. I highly recommend Bartlett & Steadman and all the people who work there. read more

We had B&S install an updated heating and water system in our home. Rich and Kyle (and another person- can't remember his name) came and did a wonderful job. They were professional, efficient and explained exactly what they were doing to upgrade our system. They stayed late on a Friday to ensure that everything was completed and cleaned up. Highly recommend Rich and Kyle at B&S. In a world of mediocre service these guys get an A+. read more

TERRIBLE!! My dad and I used them to replace a faucet they were here for less than an hour. We never received a bill. I called once and my dad called twice asking for the bill. I talked to a man who promised that an invoice would be sent that day. Never got it. My dad talked to two different women both promised that a bill would be sent out that day or the next never got it. Friday we got a call from them saying we had an outstanding payment. Dad explained the situation we finally got a bill. The bill we for over double because they charged interest! 2nd issue. My dad was helping my grandfather get his boiler fixed/replaced. Called b&s to come look at it made an appointment and they never showed they said someone made a mistake so we made another appointment. Person was over an hour late. Called and asked where the person was, we got oh that was never scheduled but someone can come out now. What is up with this place and communication and organization?! Wouldn't recommend them. read more

I use B&S for my primary home and a rental, and they are always reliable, professional and do a quality job.

I have reached out to them three times and every time I called I was told that they will call me back. Never received a phone call. Poor customer service all around. read more

Quick response, even for an agonizing problem envolving a leaky toilet. Lady on the phone was very professional, and the gentleman that came to my door was gracious and knowlegeable. I would absolutely recommend this company. read more

Hi, The owner Richard Steadman paid me a visit concerning the work done for a leak under my kitchen sink. Very professional and wanted to get to the bottom of the pricing and the work which was done and what needed to be done. The brass parts were apparently the same age and all needed to be replaced or they would be back later to repair and therefore another cost of a service. The drain issue on the tub was just a inadvertent wording issue. He looked at the issue with the drain on the high end soaking tub and thinks the gasket may be insufficient to hold the water when the tub has been filled not just partially filled. I apologize to the owner and the plumber for a prior review and take it back. read more

Had a toilet leak, so I thought. Ended up being a bigger issue than I thought but they were very helpful with the mess. Explained the situation and were very reasonable with fixing the problem. Would recommend and will use again. read more
