Tucked away off Victor Street in Barstow, this was a fun find while driving back to Los Angeles from Vegas over Memorial Day weekend. Big props to Haley M., who was basically running a one-woman show and somehow kept the entire place moving with a great attitude and solid service. That alone made the stop memorable. The location has a cool, laid-back vibe with plenty to keep people entertained while grabbing food and drinks. They've got two billiards tables, a dart board, and all kinds of classic bar games, board games, and card games, including UNO, which is a family favorite. They also have several televisions. The food was all good too. I really enjoyed the Green Chili Burger, and everyone else in my party seemed genuinely happy with their meals as well. I felt they were trying to nickel and dime when I got the bill, i was charged for a side of ranch, a side of BBQ, and had no idea I was being up charged for the onion rings. I didn't say a word, but it hit wrong with me. .75 points deducted. What especially stood out to me, though, was the Memorial Day place setting displayed near the front entrance honoring our veterans and fallen heroes. We stumbled upon this charming little Mexican restaurant tucked inside a La Quinta hotel, which is probably not where we expected to find such a delicious and authentic meal! We stopped in for Sunday brunch and were so glad we did. The staff was friendly and welcoming, everything was clean, and the food was the real star of the show. We had chile verde, pozole, and homemade tortillas--and those tortillas were SO good! Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and homemade. They also had an omelette bar, plus some very tempting churros and donuts for those who believe breakfast should end with dessert. (We do.) Honestly, this was such a fun little find in an unexpected place. If you're road-tripping through Barstow, this is absolutely a place to put on your list. Whether you're heading between LA and Vegas or just passing through, it's worth making the stop. We typically eat at local steakhouses in Palm Springs and these steaks can make run with the same quality and tastes as those steakhouses. Cassie was extremely helpful with looking up my receipt and getting the exchange set up. She was super friendly, patient, and always had a smile. After that, I spent about an hour with Jess going over different cleats, how each model fit, and what would work best for the way I play. He ended up helping me find a pair of Tiempo Maestro Academies that fit much better than I expected. He then took me over to the steamer and explained how the process would help mold the cleats more closely to my feet. After steaming them, they felt almost custom fitted. Jess really took his time and made sure I was comfortable with the final choice instead of rushing me into a sale. The entire experience was personal, positive, and much better than I expected. Cassie and Jess both did an excellent job, and I really appreciate the level of service they provided.
