This gallery is small, but it packs a punch. I've visited the gallery a handful of times now and have had the opportunity to check out a few different exhibits and I've loved them all. The space itself is perfect: intimate, bright white walls, perfect lighting and excellent art adorning said walls. The owner Al is pretty awesome and bends over backwards to give you a great experience. I like to add that Barsky Gallery is part of and really taking charge in the Hoboken Art Walk - check it out and support local arts! Had our baby shower here last month. The venue's beautiful and Al's an amazing host! Highly recommend!! Al referred us to folks who've put together lots of events here previously - Hoboken Catering for food and wait staff / bartender, Cork for drinks, and WMF Events for decor. From booking to delivery to payment, everything went off smoothly. No surprises. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! I recently rented the Barsky Gallery to throw a cocktail-style party for my fiance's birthday party (which - surprise - was also our defacto engagement party). We had around 75 guests, around half of whom live in Hoboken, none of whom had been to the gallery, and all of whom were excited about this hidden gem in the back of town. There was ample space, even with a half-dozen cocktail tables set up around the room. Al coordinated the table and linen rentals as well as two staffers to work the bar and keep an eye on the spread; the party was an incredible success and I could not imagine the guest of honor having a better time. The rental for the gallery and Al's preferred party supplier was fair, and he is super-quick to respond via Yelp, phone, or email. Everyone who asked how I found the gallery was surprised to hear "A Google search led me to Yelp." If that's how you landed here too...you've come to the right place! read more

I don't know where to start! We spent 2 weeks looking for the right location for our engagement dinner before deciding to take a trip to see this location. We walked in and knew this was the perfect location for our event! After losing both parents I dreaded having to plan events like this and working with someone like Al made things alot easier for me. He helped us in soooooooo many ways at this point I consider Al to be a blessing. The space is cozy and full of class. Gorgeous art on the walls giving you the right amount of elegance needed while adding a great feel to any theme you may have. There's parking across the street which was very convenient for our guest. I will definitely recommend this location to everyone I know. I see myself having another event here by the way. My husband hosted my Baby Shower at the Barsky Gallery, and our experience was really good. 1. Decor and Aesthetics - The gallery had art decor and amazing and rich painting on its walls. We just had to do minimalistic decoration - cover the tables, buffet tables with linens and decorate the tables with flowers & balloons. Overall, the place looked amazing and perfect for the shower 2. Space - It was spacious enough for our 40-45 guests. We had sufficient seating arrangements for almost 40 guests and the additional sofas and sofa chairs helped for the family members to relax. 3. Clarity about expenses - There were no hidden costs, our estimates and the final figures were exact. I really appreciated Al Barsky's candidness about all the upgrades and rental fees. 4. Help during the party - Al was always around during the party. He even helped us with the winding up and trash removal, which was really not expected from him. He never forced us to choose from his network of decorator or florists. His flexibility was very appreciated. 5. Location & Parking - It is located very conveniently from Hoboken Path station and there was no difficulty for our guests to park who came from far off distances, owing to a very economical parking space located just opposite the venue. Perfect place to host a birthday party....I know as I hosted one for 25+ folks with all the bells and whistles. Al was amazing and helped coordinate a perfect 40th surprise party. He was always available and even gave me his mobile number to help.ensure.everything went super smoothly. What a great venue for a baby shower. Al is the owner and he was available to help setup prior to the event and was available throughout the day to answer questions. We had 3 six-foot tables setup for 8 people (24 seated comfortably) on one side and high tops on the other side of the venue. There are built-ins in the center of the gallery which were used as a bar and buffet. We also used another table for dessert and gifts. Everything fit nicely, with plenty of room for the guests to mingle. Very clean, accommodating and friendly. I would host another event here - it was great. read more

I just hosted my sister and her fiancé's Jack & Jill wedding shower at the Barsky Gallery this past Saturday and just had to leave a review. I could not have found a more perfect venue for my event. My sister and her beau are Hoboken residents (I am not), so of course I had to find a place in Hoboken to host their wedding shower for guests coming from both Brooklyn and suburban NJ. After some shopping around and many unanswered phone calls, I found that Al was the most responsive point of contact among all the private party venue managers in town. Here's someone who answers a phone/email and talks to you like a normal person! The venue rental fee was in line with many other spaces I was researching that accommodated my guest list of 40 attendees, and it wasn't hard to make my choice once I visited the gallery. Especially when I saw all the free parking on the street and in the lot across the way! The location's proximity to the train station and parking availability made the trip easy for both NYC and NJ residents to attend. The artwork is all beautiful, evocative, and uplifting. I saw 2 separate exhibits here, and one of the things I was worried about when booking the venue was that we wouldn't see the newest exhibit until the day of the shower. Apparently I had nothing to worry about since both exhibits I saw were colorful and mood-boosting, the colors offering a great contrast to the modern and minimalist black, white, and gray of the space itself. Al was also able to recommend a caterer he frequently works with (Hoboken Catering) who also did a splendid job, largely thru email beforehand and on the day of in my absence. I ran into some issues on the day of the shower (USPS would get a 2 star rating from me), leading me and my family to arrive around the same time the first guests were rolling in, but Al and our caterer had everything set up to perfection so it was all ready to go when we got there. All in all a very turn-key experience! Oh, and the best part? Several of my guests were impressed enough to say that it was the BEST shower they had ever attended. Do yourself a favor and visit the gallery. Also - I saw a check-in offer for a free glass of wine with your check-in when you visit! What could it hurt? read more

This is a pretty awesome gallery. I came here for a Yelp event but was interested to come here when it first opened. The place was modern with a bunch of expensive art that I wish I could buy. It was a little warm in there but it could have been because there was a bunch of Yelp elites or the wine and champagne that was provided. There was plenty of space and I'm glad to see this art exhibit showcase local artists. It was like being in a mini exhibit at the MOMA. This is a well worth visit! read more

We had a launch party for Standrey.com here. AL was friendly and helpful when we initially visited the space. He was more than willing to make accommodations to suit our personal needs like move pictures, furniture l etc. He provided covered tables at no additional charge. And you can't beat the rental fee. He was more than helpful during the actual event which took place last weekend. He opened his office up to my staff and let them set up. He allowed us to play music from his personal computer and when the paid time was up he didn't rush us out the door. Actually told us to relax and continue to enjoy our event. My friend and I recently visited the Barsky Gallery as part of a Yelp Elite event and we were both really impressed with the space and the art on display. There was a wide variety of styles of paintings and there were even a few big books of watercolor paintings, sketches and lino prints. The space itself is clean and modern, with some seating in the form of contemporary white couches. The gallery is small enough to host an intimate event, but big enough that you can circulate around comfortably without bumping into things (or people). It's in a kind of industrial area, but is still easily accessibly and only a 15-minute walk from Hoboken's main drag. I would definitely recommend this gallery for something like a swanky birthday party or classy engagement party. Great vibe. read more

I held my Fiance's 30th birthday at Barsky Gallery and it was a hit! First off, the place is a hidden gem. All of our Hoboken friends had no idea the gallery is there. The place is beautiful, clean, and spacious enough for a gathering. We had about 30 people and brought in all of our own food and drink. Albert, the gallery owner, is fantastic! He is extremely easy to work with and such a great guy. Albert even let my parents and in-laws in early to set up and helped break everything down at the end of the night. A fantastic event space! I had my jungle themed baby shower here and everyone left saying how classy it was and how incredible the space was - its definitely a hidden gem in Hoboken. The owners Al and Vee are very easy to work with and hugely accommodating. Not only did they coordinate with both my husband and sister for weeks leading up, including a great assist with the table set up to fit our ever growing crowd, but as I was late (per usual) they even dreamed up a jungle playlist and had it playing for my guests until I got there with the actual playlist. What a lovely space! Who knew that this was even here? A small but well organized, clean, and modern space to display some fantastic artwork for sale. The owner was kind enough to have us here for a Yelp event and everyone was very accommodating and kind. The art work is definitely expensive but art, as I understand it, is an investment so why not start by supporting local artists? Last weekend, I threw a bridal shower for my friend at Barsky Gallery for about 30 people. We served hors d'oeuvres, an entree, and dessert (buffet style). The experience was nothing shy of perfection and I give Al (the owner) lots of credit for this. The gallery's well-curated artwork provides a stunning backdrop and you can do a little or a lot with the floor space to make your event special. Having the event at an art gallery provided a unique spin on a traditional event. I got tons of compliments and everyone loved the venue choice! We hosted a Chanukah party at Barsky Gallery last month. Not only did our guests all comment on how much they loved the gallery but Al, the owner, was amazing from beginning to end. He helped with the planning, set up, and during the event. He was very accommodating, professional, and full of creative but practical ideas and solutions.
