So happy I started going to Barrys. Best decision I ever made for myself. My motivation was lacking so I knew I had to stick to a pretty consistent plan, and Barrys provides just that for me. I'm currently attending between 3 to 4 times a week, and have loved the results I've been getting. I'm a terrible runner so am consistently challenged every class, and although I'll never be hitting that 12.5 on 15 incline, I'm pushing myself to my limits each time. My favorite, favorite, favorite trainer is Sean. He's sassy, hilarious, and makes me forget that I'm sweating bullets and trying not throw up during sprints at 6 AM. His spontaneous dance moves kill me, and he genuinely cares about his clients. Sean is the best! The facilities in general are great - I've never had an issue with parking, and they have some pretty awesome products in the locker rooms and shower areas. Stuff I'd buy for myself if it wasn't so expensive. :) The Fuel bar is also really good, and I wish I had $1,000,000 to spend on the Barry's branded clothing because it's so on trend and super nice. Literally the only bad thing I have to say about Barrys in Venice is that one time I saw a really big silverfish in the stretching lounge, but that was one time and it was when they had just opened, so honestly no big deal. Barrys Bootcamp was ok. I walked in and told the front desk lady it was the first time through Classpass. She was super friendly and explained everything to me. I was already intimidated because I felt out of place because I am more than overweight and insecure. So, the little reassurance and friendliness was a plus. The trainer, on the other hand, was a bit cold and unfriendly. She completely avoided eye contact with me, even when I was directly in front of her. It would have been nice of her to acknowledge my struggles and at least correct my form. I know for sure that I was a hot mess so a little help would have been nice. She would just pass me and not say anything. The workout was ok because I did it at my own pace. My biggest suggestion would be better music and a little bit of help from the instructor. I do intend to go back, but I do will try to take a different instructor. read more

This location is stunning - gorgeous and clean changing rooms, spacious, free parking, malin + goetz products... basically a LA gym rat's dream... I want to live here. Loved my class with Sean W. - he made me laugh even though I wanted to throw up on the treadmill. I also loved that he called out 3 different speeds for "treaders" and let us know at the beginning of each section what's coming up. The front desk staff was so nice!!! A very kind blonde gentleman showed me how the room was set up and even checked on me before class started to make sure I was good to go. Alright, this review is long overdue. I've been to every workout class you can imagine. Yoga, Pilates, Tae bo, Boxing, Barre, Cross fit, Circuit works, Orange theory... you name it, I've tried it. I resisted going to Barry's for a while because I figured it was no different than all the other HIIT classes. But I was wrong. It's different. A LOT different. It's so different that I am tempted to call Barry the Elon Musk of HIIT. It took me a few classes to figure out why it's so addictive. Here's what I think: 1. Their secret sauce is RED LIGHT. Why is red light so important, you ask? Well, it's like having a snapchat filter on you in the real world. You automatically look 2 points hotter than you do in broad daylight. Ladies, if you're a 7, welcome to suddenly becoming a 9! They further enhance this ego-boost by having floor to ceiling mirrors all around you. This setup is enough to bring out the inner narcissist in even the most humble creatures. And when you feel like that much of a bad*ss, it definitely amps up your energy and motivation throughout the class. 2. Consistent, High-Energy Instructors. This is yet another reason why Barry's stands out. In every other class I have tried, the greatness of the class was largely dependent on whether the particular instructor was good or bad that day. That's not the case with Barry's. Although the instructors each have slightly different styles, EVERY SINGLE instructor has the energy of someone who just took 3 shots of wheatgrass and snorted 7 lines of who-knows-what right before the class started. They take energy to a whole new level. And when your instructor is screaming like the apocalypse is coming, you can't help but want to run faster too... 3. AMENITIES. Considering the reasonable amount you pay for each class, I am actually shocked at the quality of the amenities they provide. Towels, hair ties, gum, ear plugs. But best of all, the bathrooms are stocked with ORIBE! Whatttttt??? Every time I go into the girls bathroom there's at least 1-2 girls in complete shock that everything is Oribe in there. Oh, and, did I mention DYSON hair dryers? You can't find amenities like this at Equinox... You can't even find amenities this good at the Four Seasons hotel. I could go on, but I think you get the point. This class is just awesome in every way. Also, the Venice location is the best I have tried. Weho is second. Sherman Oaks is meh. read more

This is my favorite location of all time. Loads of classes, great parking, and the staff is extremely friendly and professional. The trainers play great music and keep you burning. I don't live in Venice, but it's definitely worth the drive. I honestly can't ask for a cleaner, nicer facility or better people to get coached by. And the post workout smoothie that's pre-made so it's available immediately after class is genius- definitely hits the spot and gets you ready for the rest of the day. Come here, you will not be disappointed. And did I mention the beautiful locker room, complete with showers stocked with Oribe products, clean towels and plenty of easy access programable lockers. The Barry's workout experience is definitely up on my list of fitness spots here in LA. I used to be scared of the treadmill, but Barry's showed me how we could be friends again. The class atmosphere is challenging, yet accommodating to your level. This location is great because everything is huge: studio size, parking lot, stretching area, and locker rooms. The facility seems spotless every time I visit. I almost like taking a shower in here rather than my own apartment because I love getting to use all the MALIN+GOETZ products that I will never afford because I keep taking Barry's Bootcamp classes and buying Barry's Fuel Bar after class. Also, shout out to the staff at this location! Y'all are always so sweet and friendly even on those dreadful Sundays at 8am! read more

I started taking Barrys Bootcamp a few of months ago & as someone who played competitive soccer I'm always looking for a workout class that gives me the same intensity and "high". A couple of months ago my friend told me to take Sean's class and hands down he quickly became my FAVORITE instructor - consistently giving me the best work out that prepares me for my day and week. If I could sum up the energy in a few words it would be - MOTIVATING, ENTHUSIASTIC, HIGH INTENSITY YET PLAYFUL all at the same damn time! Who would think a workout could be fun?! NOT ME! My fitness journey got real serious about 2 years ago when a major life event triggered a renewed focus on taking care of my body and getting back into shape. I've always been a weight-room guy but my wife asked me to try out a group fitness class down the street from us. This is where I met Sean Williams, a trainer who has transformed my body and become a great friend along the way. Although Barry's is a little expensive, the workout is incredible and worth every penny. The facilities are first-class and the staff have been nothing short of excellent. Not once have I found a dirty piece of equipment, a broken treadmill or had to suffer through a class because of a "broken A/C" unit - excuses I've experienced from other gyms in the area. Sean brings so much energy to every class. How he's bouncing off the walls at 6:15 AM, I do not know. He's also done an excellent job of making sure that I don't over train while pushing me hard. I've gotten stronger, leaner and faster with every class. I'm pumped to keep working out at Barry's and Sean will continue to be a big part of my fitness journey. Go check out one of Sean's classes and I'm sure you'll be hooked. My only complaint is that all of my old clothes don't fit anymore and Sean's addiction to Nike shoes/clothes has rubbed off on me big time. You've been warned! read more

I went here today to get an açaí smoothie. I love açaí and thought they looked like they would have a nice smoothie for my breakfast. I was a bit disappointed on how sweet it was. The whey protein over powered it and it was almost inedibly sweet. I also paid $9 for it so that was a let down :(. Service was very nice though. read more

LOVE!!! This place is amazing- location is great and has ample parking. Large open space with nice clean changing rooms with showers. I took the total body class and it was such a great workout- really challenging but sooo good! Nice mix of intense cardio on the treadmill and toning with weights and floor exercises. The instructor was awesome, motivating and friendly. The staff was also super friendly and helpful- and it was 6am! I also like the additional stretch area upstairs. I couldn't be happier!!! I originally signed up for a 3 month committment, but if they had a lifelong membership, I'd sign up for that. Absolutely in LOVE with this gym, location, the barrys fam, all the instructors, cleaning staff etc! Alex Sapfit, Sean Williams and Jordan Gluck are some of the most inspiring and incredible people i've ever had the experience to train with. This might be "expensive" to some, but in my opinion, you can't put a price on your health, body, and happiness. You'll get ALL that and more at Barry's. With a past as a college and professional athlete, coach, dancer, and military search and rescue career, this was the perfect fit for my life transitioning out of demanding physical professional careers to a more long term and attainable lifestyle workout. I've never felt better and will never stop coming here. It has changed my life and I will continue to encourage others to join in hope to change their lives as well. Do it. You will NOT regret it!!!!! The ONLY con: Even if you have a 3 month+ committed membership, if you have to cancel 12 hours or less before a class, you get charged an additional $15, plus you lose the $30 class. $45 for NOT going. It holds you accountable, but if you're someone like me with chronic health conditions and don't always have control or know if or when you will be sick/bed-ridden, then maybe this isn't the place for you. As a loyal member, I have still lost a few hundred dollars I didn't have, so that hurts, but there isn't really a way around it unfortunately. Hoping someday they will change this, since they usually fill your spot anyway, and don't really lose money from it. The space is clean, modern, and spacious. They have a big parking lot so parking is a non-issue. The bathrooms are super clean and have showers so you can get ready post-workout. The workout itself is intense. You do a treadmill/floor mix up and it can get pretty exhausting. On the treadmill they instructor will call out speeds and inclines and you do what (s)he says. I'm not the strongest runner so I try to follow as best as I can but slow the pace down to what I'm comfortable with. The floor work can be pretty difficult and fast-paced. If you're new you might have some trouble following along but just do your best. The classes are not cheap though and I would say it's one of the pricier workouts in town, but definitely worth it. read more

I'll start with the positives. As others have shared this location is really clean and spacious and I felt the workout was very challenging with good variety. I also liked the music selection and volume. It was very motivating. As far as the negatives: I arrived 15 min. early to get set up, meet the instructor, etc. as the website recommended. Needless to say I really felt dismissed at the front desk. One person checked me in and had me sign a waiver (which by the way she moved out of a relatively clear area where I was standing to an area where an instructor was chit chatting with what I assume was someone who'd taken a class (she moved the waiver right in front of them and they were almost right up against the front desk so I had to awkwardly reach around them). Then I was passed onto another person who started explaining the workout and telling me about treadmill speeds. When I asked where the class was and if I could look around or have a tour since it was my first time she looked annoyed, said I could look around and then asked if understood what she said about treadmill speeds and had me repeat it like I was incapable of comprehending it. I thought that was off putting but I shrugged it off and went to class. In class the instructor didn't ask if it was anyone's first time or explain anything about the equipment or where it was located, and as others have said no one corrected form or even really demonstrated what proper form should look like for the floor exercises. I won't be back to this location but perhaps I'll try South Bay in the future to see if there's a better set up. read more

Been coming to Barry's for over 5 years now. Customer service has completely dropped off since the pandemic. The entire team at Venice used to be so nice and welcoming, now the guys at the front desk are snobby and judgy- really not a good look for a workout place. I should iterate that the women working at the front desk have remained sweet and helpful as to be expected with Barry's standards. I've had so many disheartening and negative experiences with the guys at the front desk that I've switched to Orangetheory instead. Sad to have to leave my Barry's fam after so many loyal years and the instructors are so great, but don't feel like encountering mean and negative front desk people anymore, especially the so-called manager with red hair who I won't name. You know who you are. Really is time to retrain some newer people and bring them back up to the Barry's customer service standard or you'll lose more loyal guests. Take a page from Andrew Key's book he's the best at making everyone feel welcome! read more

Tried a class out this past Wednesday! It was upper body and abs! I loved the workout! Pretty intense but that's the point. Atmosphere of the whole place was very upscale. Very trendy and had a great variety of amenities! I think for newbies you should go inside the class as early as possible to be able to see where you'll be working out since it's assigned stations. Overall, I would come back again but the price is a bit steep however this is LA. For an introduction it's $120 for 6 classes. If that's in your ball park definitely check them out! read more

I know I have written a review before, but it continues to amaze me how incredible this place is. Everyone at Barry's Venice has literally become my family. Every single person that works here is a literal Angel, Alex F., Salema, Francisco, ALL the management. Instructors. Fuel Bar Staff. It's just so great to walk into a place where everyone makes the effort to know your name, make you feel welcome, and make your experience as memorable and fun as possible. As an avid long distance runner, I was looking for a workout that would complement my running, and Barry's did not disappoint! This class is perfect for cross training and I can definitely see myself taking two classes in a row (it's that fun and addicting). Sean is the best coach of any workout class I've ever taken- his energy is unmatched and he's also hilarious. He's also the sweetest and super personable! Your spot ISN'T guaranteed. I signed up for a class two days in advance for this week and showed up 3 minutes prior to class time (for reference, you can only enter the studio 5 minutes before the class starts). I had picked this class due to the availability of treadmills and being able to book two next to each other. Upon showing up, I was told that I had been moved off of the treadmills onto the floor due to not being there 5 minutes early. No recourse, apparently this is policy but not communicated. With a class this expensive and other strict booking policies that don't allow you to cancel classes, this is unacceptable. I have paid for my spot, and whether I show early, on time, late or at all, that spot is still paid for. Fitting a class into a busy schedule is hard enough and I would gladly pay the extra money for a workout that makes better use of my time and is easier to fit into my day. Edited to take into account the response below. I still don't think the 5-minute rule makes sense paying for the class, but at least it is communicated now. read more

I drive from Palos Verdes to Venice just to visit this studio (if you live in LA, you know how crazy that is) Everything about the Venice Barry's is worth the drive. The instructors, the workout, the amenities and most importantly, Miranda, the Assistant Manager. Miranda is the #1 reason I visit this studio. She's a ray of sunshine and I've never met anyone like her. She is such a great example of above and beyond customer service. All of the staff at this location are friendly and personable and deserve some recognition! read more

Beautiful treadmills, easy parking, expansive stretch facility, and plenty of room to do your thing if you arrive early. Front desk is awesome and welcoming. I love how the physical focus is posted, so if you want to get a "full body" or "butt and legs" it is well communicated before you sign up. What a fantastic place to get your sweat on! Friendly, knowledgeable, and motivational instructors combined with the friendly Venice crowd really makes this one welcoming place to go! After having been away from Barry's Weho for several years due to a move for work, it is great to be back in their Venice gym. In particular, the Wednesday classes taught by Chris TW have helped me learn a lot on how to increase the effectiveness of all the crazy dumbell routines done in class. Also, the Sunday full body workouts have been a real help in amplifying the results of all the yoga i do otherwise (see review for Red Diamond). So happy to be back at Barry's! I have been a Barrys customer and fan since 2015 and have frequented the Hollywood, Sherman Oaks and WH locations. I love the workout. Unfortunately I cannot bring myself to visit the Venice location again as the workout has been cut down to 50 mins vs 60 mins at all other L.A. locations. It doesn't make sense from delivering a consistent customer experience. If youre going to charge same pricing as Hollywood and WH, please deliver the same value and experience. I felt cheated and there is no way around it. read more

I am a client at Barry's and have been for two years, however I do not look like their regular "preppy" clientele. Miranda was so very helpful with any question I had and after hearing my story she gave me a complimentary pass for myself and my husband and I used mine today for the full body workout and man......I am sore, tired and very happy! This studio is massive!! Great front desk and management staff who clearly love their jobs, ample parking in the front and back, Oribe products (trust me you don't want to miss it), and very clean facility. It even smells amazing as you walk into the studio. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I really appreciate that they have self locking lockers so I didn't have to bring my own lock. I also appreciate that everyone was working so hard in class and motivated to work out. The instructor (can't remember his name) was so fun in class and made my abs hurt from laughing so much at his jokes and dance moves. He made the class fun! I've seen other reviews about the classes being shorter than normal but honestly as a first timer I appreciate the efficient 50 minute workout and my friend and I got to go upstairs to stretch after. I come to Barry's at least a few times a week solely to get my fitness fix from trainer Sean Williams! His energy in class is absolutely amazing and contagious. Beyond how fun his classes are, there's NO trainer in LA that I would recommend more than Sean for smart, accurate training technique. His career as a runner and athlete has shaped how he teaches and ensures you're constantly using the best form and running technique with the series he puts together. Last, the facilities are seriously top notch (products, locker rooms, equipment, I could go on!) and the front desk staff/Venice manager are always there with a smile and ready to help. The Venice location of Barry's Bootcamp is on STEROIDS! It is so spacious and there's plentiful parking in the back. It's like a dream come true! I have been waiting for them to open a studio on the Westside and they've done a beautiful job with this location - definitely worth the wait! There's a dedicated stretch room that's lofted up, so you can look down on the rest of this beautiful studio, where there's even a table for the Fuel Bar area. There's also ample insta-worthy shots to be taken throughout the interior and exterior of the building, as well as what looks like a permanent photobooth! I loved my class with Sean W.! He has so much energy and made me crack a smile and laugh throughout class! read more

Workout is tough... similar to Orange Theory but with longer intervals. Low red lighting gave the place a good ambiance. I took a Saturday 10:30 class and besides the cadence of the switches being a little hard to follow he did a good job. I was exhausted on my way out. read more

This was the best gym I've ever been to. They cover all the details (hair ties, gum, bobby pins, hair dryer, smoothies). The staff is also soooo nice. SOOOO NIIICCCEEE. I drove an hour for a special event at this place and now I'm thinking I'll have to make another trip! Totally worth it to go walk on the beach after and see the sunset over the water. I can't walk today but I think that's the point! Great workout. The instructor is a super woman because I don't know how she talked and showed us all those exercises at the same time. It was a really fun and motivating environment. I was terrified of doing a bootcamp and I had a really great time. The absolute best & fanciest part--- they had a freezing cold washcloth infused with essential oils available for us as we walked out of class. Amazing! read more
