First time at Barry's, had a great fully body workout. Nice alternative to all the Pilates and yoga studios in the area.

It was years since i stepped into a gym, in addition to recovering from knee surgery - i could…read morehardly get down to the floor and getting up was worse. After area research i contacted Joe at Iron House to talk through membership, costs, equipment and using their in-house trainers. I will simply say this gym is a throwback in every positive way to what a gym should be - nothing fancy but everything you need; it was exactly like all my favorite gyms rolled into one - enough wieghts, cardio, machines (including some not found in other gyms) and fitness accessories (bands, steps, mats, sticks, heavy balls, etc). Most important i never felt uncomfortable. or judged - especially given my limitations - every staff-person and member was focused on their workouts and staff duties, and all were respectful and always helpful. This gym "vibe" is best captured with me struggling to stand up while at the same time the morning group classes - intense, difficult, and demanding - were going on in the designated area and I never once felt "less" or judged - always smiles (not sure how they managed to smile!!) and hello. Enter Anna or better known as "Coach" to many in the gym who use her personal trainer services. Anna was the perfect blend of understanding (adjusted equipment and moves to my level), motivating, encouraging and yes tough as she needed to be - i went from day-one needing help laying down and then getting up, to 3 sets of 3 different exercises, to workingout on my own. At home I could once again climb stairs (from one stair at a time) and had more energy at work. Joe has built a community (both in and out of the gym) and regardless of whether a member took part in other activities, everyone is also welcomed. Lastly a shoutout to Bruce who faithfully opened the gym every morning, even while recovering from his own surgery...

They sponsored "IHF Moves 4 Autism", where members and local athletes participated in different events (run/bike/run duathlon, lift-off, fun run, thruster/run). All proceeds were donated to the Mayer Center at Middlesex Hospital and The Nest in Deep River. Both support or employ children and adults with autism. Then there was a motivational competition for all members. You just needed to show up for classes to participate - easy!! I love my gym community! I have made great friends while maintaining my physical health. If you're looking for a great gym, this is the place!

My wife and I have been coming to this studio since it opened in 2020. We look forward to our…read morespinning classes together. Although we've owned a peloton bike for over 4 years, we still come to this studio several times a week because we enjoy the classes and the camaraderie of the other spin regulars. The studio is very clean, the equipment is well maintained, and the instructors are top notch. My wife and I have taken spin classes at other gyms, including when we travel, but so far, we rate our experience at Crank Cycle the best. Denise, the owner, is very personable and bubbly and her enthusiasm is contagious. My wife combines her spin experience with participation in the challenging Shredz class that precedes the spin classes, so she really gets a great workout for 1.25 hours (spin classes are 45 minutes).

I have been going to Crankcycle since they opened. I have had a good experience until I had an…read moreissue and wanted to talk to the owner. I tried texting her to no response. Then when I went to class today before training I once again tried to talk to her but she was too busy to talk to me. So before my second class in her studio I told her I needed to talk to her again, she was annoyed when I brought up an issue I had with her as a member. I was upset and I raised my voice and she immediately raised her voice back. As an owner of the business, you can not do that. It's unprofessional. I pay a big membership for her studio and instead of trying to resolve the issue when I said I will continue at her studio until the end of the month she told me to leave now and will credit me back for the month very nasty. So I packed my stuff up and left. No resolution, just very abrupt and nasty. No customer service as an owner and professionalism at all. She had her business partner watch me pack my stuff and leave. Then when I messaged her to let me know when she issued me a credit, I got a response back: "Why are you texting me, I'm going to block you". That fact and response alone was not professional for an owner of a spin studio. This was an unfortunate event and not expected from a person I have known for over 20 years. I am hoping she at least is true to her word and credits me the month back after she told me to leave.

I was really looking forward to trying this CycleBar location through ClassPass, but unfortunately,…read moreI never even got the chance to take the class. I had a 5:30 AM booking and drove 40 minutes to get there. My GPS took me past the Big Y in the plaza, but the studio is actually tucked away on the corner next to ROW--not by Big Y like you'd expect. On top of that, the sign had no lighting, which made it extremely hard to find in the dark, especially for a first-time visitor. By the time I figured out where it was and got to the door at 5:30 AM, it was already locked. I understand it's for security reasons, but there was no one at the door, no signage to help new people, and no one answered when I called. I've done over 20+ ClassPass classes without any issues, and this was just frustrating--especially after such a long drive. I hope they improve their signage (add lighting!) and consider offering more support for new clients trying to find the place, especially for those early morning classes.

The instructors (so far I have taken a class with Steph, Miguel, Karli, and Maureen) are all very friendly and extremely motivating. They push me throughout the workout and I leave feeling my absolute best. They also make you feel very comfortable as well, judgement free zone, so the classes are perfect for all levels! The music is great and the place is extremely clean. They have lockers to hold all your belongings and provide shoes and towels. In the bathroom they also have tampons, hair ties, deodorants available which I thought was very kind.

This place exceeded my expectations! I attended a "Friday Night Ride" class last week and…read moreabsolutely loved it. This was my first spin class in probably 7-8 years so I was slightly nervous how I would be able to keep up at this stage in my life. The studio is extremely organized and prior to coming, they request that you chose a bike on their site and pick your shoe size. Then upon entering, your shoes are ready in the cubbies which are assigned according to the # bike that you chose. Love the preparation so there is no wandering around and figuring it out when you get there. There were a few instructors greeting everyone entering with such great energy, making everyone feel at ease and welcome. The studio provides a locker with a lock which is extremely helpful. Gone are the days of leaving belongings in an unlocked locker. Then make your way to the bikes. At each bike there was a clean towel and 2 arm weights. This workout was definitely full body. Alex was a fantastic instructor. Her energy radiated the room and she encouraged everyone of all levels to push through their goal. The entire time she reminded the group to go at a pace they felt comfortable while still leading us to engage and push our hardest to the finish line. She was an extremely motivating leader while still keeping the workout feeling fun and achievable. Finishing the class gave me such a sense of accomplishment! I cant wait to come back!
