I was looking him up, out of curiosity because I was having fond memories of my children's deliveries. And my niece is currently pregnant. I wanted to refer her although I recall telling her I don't think he's in practice anymore because it's been a while since I last seen him. I chose Dr. Tischler to deliver all three of my babies. The oldest is 24 now. The middle one is 22 and my baby is 14. Dr. Tishler was always so informative and caring in his treatments. I didn't live close by where he practiced, but I didn't mind making the drive to ensure all three of my babies were born healthy as he has always delivered. I reported them to the California medical board. Very unprofessional! I told the doctor about an issue I had with the front desk not communicating/lying about certain things. He got mad because one of the people I was telling him about was his wife (which I didn't know). She came in the room, she was aggressive and yelled at me. She was pointing her finger in my face and since then I haven't been back. Since then they are still my OB typically. I refuse to go back ! I've had test work done elsewhere (I had a referral letter from Dr. Tischler ) and I went. Two days later, I called Dr. Tischler's office for the results...they lied and said the place they had me get tested at was closed. Lol what doctors office is closed on a Monday and it's not a holiday. Anyways, I called the office I got the test done at directly and they emailed me the test results. I have been a patient of Dr. Tischler for over 35 years. He made me so comfortable at something so new to me. He always explained everything and was very approachable to receive questions or concerns. I have had many family doctors and orthopedic doctors, but only one Gynecologist because I never felt the need to change and go anywhere else. So if you are looking for a OBGYN, give him a try. I started seeing Tischler when I was 5 months pregnant. Due to Covid during my 3rd trimester he visited his patients through FaceTime. I had my son April 2020 and Tischler was called in to do his circumcision 3 days just after he was born that we paid $300 for and neither myself or boyfriend was in the room when he done it. July comes around and we're at my son's 3 month check up. His doctor ask if he was circumcised, I said yes and was referred to a specialist regarding his penis. We see the specialist in October & he says he needs to be re-circumcised due to the foreskin not being cut enough and to wait until he was 1 years old that way he can recover faster plus he had a lot of fat down there so he wanted to make sure he was walking first. My son just had his surgery a week ago today and let me say this, it's an absolute nightmare seeing your child in pain and even worse when poor baby shouldn't of had to go through all of that again. My son was put under anesthesia which was concerning to me hence when he was born he had pneumonia and was in the nicu for 7 days. I strongly wouldn't recommend him. He delivered me and many many other family friends I know but Im glad he is no longer practicing. (That's what I heard) read more

Do you have a minute? Oh good. Because you'll need one for this. Last month at my yearly check up, my doctor said that I needed a referral to an OB/GYN to get something checked out. I called the referral service and they said there were two doctors in San Pedro, and since that's just over the bridge from me I said that would be fine. She said that Dr. Tischler "has a good bedside manner." I said ok, sign me up. I called to make an appointment and they said I could come in in a week. I guess that should have been a red flag for me right there. Just for the heck of it, I double checked on my insurance's website to make sure the doctor was in my group so that my exam and procedure would be covered. Sure enough, he wasn't in my group. I called the referral service and they said they would call me back. She called me back and said that she checked with the office and he is in my group, so I should be ok. I took their word for it. My appointment was at 10:30 and I arrived at 10:15. The waiting room was fairly busy, and I found it odd that they only reading materials in it were promotional pamphlets for drugs. And it was freezing. I wrapped my scarf around my face because my nose was so cold. I was in the waiting room for at least 45 minutes before I was called back (I was there for a total of 2 hours for a 1 minute exam). When they finally called me back, they had me wait in Dr. Tischler's office. I found it weird that all of his family photos on his desk were facing me rather than him. I don't really care what his wife and daughter look like. The office was also plastered with his child's artwork and there were several HUGE teddy bears on the floor. And there were creepy statues and figurines of doctors examining pregnant women. Weird. I don't know how long I was waiting in there, but it seemed to take forever. I was so bored I was ready to pull a book off of his bookcase and start reading about gynecological oncology or something. When the doctor finally showed up, he didn't shake my hand or introduce himself, he just sat down, opened my file and started the barrage of questions about my medical history. We were interrupted once by a phone call he answered and then when he was done, he put down the phone and asked, "Where were we?" I thought it was rhetorical, but he waited for my answer because he honestly didn't know. The weirdest part of our conversation was when he said, "Men think about sex every 15 minutes." That's great. So when I'm half naked on the table, is that going one of the other 14 minutes, I hope? When I was on the table in the exam room, he actually got up and walked out twice to do something else. The second time he left the door ajar. WTF? Sure there's that little curtain there, but there's also a mirror behind that curtain so anyone walking by might be able to see my business propped up on the table. Inconsiderate. After my exam, he told me that I would have to be admitted into the hospital for an out-patient procedure to get my problem taken care of. He said to go see Clara in the back office after I was dressed. I met Clara who schedules all the surgeries. She started scheduling me at San Pedro Hospital, and then I asked if it mattered that Torrance Memorial is my hospital. She seemed really put out that she had to call back San Pedro and cancel. "You know, Torrance Memorial is REALLY hard to get in to." Like it's my fault, lady, that my HMO says I have to go to Torrance. "Well let me talk to the doctor to see what he wants to do." They decided that they would get my referral for the procedure expedited and get me in for surgery at Torrance on Saturday since the doctor had three other surgeries scheduled there for that day. Great! She called me back later in the day to confirm that the referral was approved and told me what time to be at the hospital on Saturday. On Friday, the day before my scheduled procedure, I decided to check with my insurance just to make sure that this doctor is in my group and I'm going to be covered since the last thing I want is for them not to approve it and me end up with a huge hospital bill. I called Health Net and they said that, in fact, my procedure would not be covered under my plan. I called Clara to let her know and she got really pissy with me. "Yes we ARE in that group. We've been in that group for YEARS and you're NOT going to have to pay for it." I told her my insurance told me I would. "Who did you talk to there?" Member services. "Well, THAT's your problem!" I started to get really frustrated. "Well, do what you want," she says to me. I started to cry. I'm already stressed out and she's going to give me attitude? After dealing with the issue all morning with the insurance and the group, no real conclusion was found, other than I may or may not be covered. I ended up canceling the procedure, and I will not be going back to Dr. Tischler again. read more

No nurse present for part of the exam. Did not follow procedure by informing me FIRST of the things he was doing. He explained his reasons after seeing the shock on my face for the last part of the exam. He was to place 2 prescription orders for me. It took him and his office 2 weeks to order the first prescription after 2 phone calls. It has been 3 weeks since my apt. now and they still have not put an order in for the second prescription, nor has the Dr. or his assistant called me to go over my lab results even after 2 phone calls following up and his office assuring me that he would call me back that day to go over them. The office is unorganized and it appears the Dr. doesn't care or is too busy to manage the quality of service his patients are receiving. read more

I adore this man. He had been my doctor for 30 years. He has always been kind, compassionate, intelligent, pro active ,professional, and wonderful, all the way around He takes a stand for his patients and makes sure you get the care you deserve. For one of my difficult, heartbreaking pregnancies he made me his priority and stayed in town, while he was supposed to be elsewhere, and supported my husband and I through the worst time of our lives. His staff mourned with us and were also wonderful! I've read many of these other reviews and I think people tend to blame the Dr. for the labs time lines and office peoples actions. He has no control over the labs and he does not tolerate inappropriate employee behavior. He had the same staff for over 20 years until he left his group and may have had staff turnover but they have always been kind. He is an ob/gyn so yes sometimes people need him in labor & delivery and it takes him from his in office patients but I understand that as 4 times I have been the one needing him at odd time when my babies decided to enter this world. As far as the various rumored claims made by one reviewer- just because people spread unsubstantiated claims does not make it so. I fly back to CA annually to see him. That is how much I trust him. I have been through 4 pregnancies with him and numerous other issues and he has always taken perfect care of me. He referred me to specialists immediately when he had concerns and followed through every time. I HIGHLY recommend him if you are looking for a intelligent and mindful Dr that will take the time to hear you. read more

Dr.Tischler is by far the rudest doctor I have ever made an appointment with. I went in for a check up because I was having a possible miscarriage. That is what the ER doctor told me and referred me to Dr. Tischler to see if everything is ok or if I did in fact miscarriage. Well after Dr. Tischler did a ultrasound the first thing he said to me was "you need to go on birth control" I told him that I didn't want to. Then he asked me about my insurance and told me to get actual insurance and get on birth control. Then he kept talking about different birth controls that are available. At this point I was extremely upset. He showed no sympathy for my loss. I was really excited about this pregnancy even though it was still early into the pregnancy, my partner and I wanted this pregnancy to go well. I've been seeing Dr. Tischler for over ten years now and I couldn't imagine going any place else. He is an excellent physician and surgeon (I've had a few surgeries). He was recommended to me by a friend who had also been seeing him for years. From the moment I met him I felt very comfortable. He has a funny bed-side manner and handles embarrassing questions (and I mean REALLY embarrassing questions) with ease. I've asked him some things I couldn't ask my husband! When I decided I wanted to have children, but most likely couldn't, Dr. T was there for me. He specializes in difficult pregnancies! I'm an older mom and I have Endo. so those were two hurdles to get over. He created a plan for us and step by step we followed it. After a surgery for the Endo. and four Lupron injections, we were pregnant! I insisted on a c-section. He listened to my concerns and was very sympathetic, eventually agreeing to my request. The whole child birth experience was wonderful and I'm so glad he was the one. If I could say anything else, be prepared to wait a bit. He does have a lot of patients and occasionally he has emergency situations. But everyone gets the attention they need and they expertise they deserve. If you can, ask for Joy as your nurse. She's the second reason I go there. If you are too shy to ask Dr. T a question, ask her to ask him. She's amazing as well. read more

The first time I went to see Dr. Tischler I was very impressed on how much time he took to talk to me ,review my file and answered all my questions. I have been going through some health issue for the past few years and he always gave me his undivided attention and compassion about what I am going through. Dr. Tischler has been my ob for 16 years . I have never had any problems with him . He delivered my 2 kids and is my ob for my third! I had a miscarriage a couple of months ago and he knew I had been wanting a child. He had me go on birth control because he recommended to wait at least 3 months before trying again. That was a recommendation to ensure my uterus was strong enough to prevent another miscarriage! And yes it took me a couple of months and am proud to say I'm now 14 weeks pregnant and everything so far is great. He has been there and has me do all testing necessary to ensure this baby is healthy! Ps he also delivered my older brother now 37 and the other one is now 30. So I can say he's been the family ob. So, my doctor told me I had pre-cancerous cells few months ago. She recommended this doctor for me to see. First, it was extremely far to go to his office and second, I don't drive. I trusted that my doctor knew what was best to her knowledge and send me to this doctor. When I went to my appointment they had an issue with my insurance because apparently my doctor didn't write the form right so they had an issue because this doctor was not named first. Ok I waited for an hour before they sorted everything out. And for them to tell me my insurance was good for them. (In my opinion I pay a good amount of money for my insurance- it's not cheap). When he say me and I explain why I was there. Which I was already freaking out because again pre-cancerous cell in my uturous. He was like whatever, he told me he would explain every single step he did...yet said nothing. Then the nurse just stood there. Where he was done he told me it doesn't look good and we would have to do a biopsy. Then said he would have the office call me as soon as he got the approval from my insurance. This was back in Sep of 2017. When I called a few weeks later no one had and idea of who I was. The front desk was extremely rude. Then I let more time pass and I called. I was hung up on and then the front desk people were extremely rude and continue to argue with me because I got snappy. They hung up on my 2 time and put me on hold for a very long time. And till could not make an appointment for me to see him again. At the end I gave up. Till this day I have not see a doctor. This sucks. I had to give this man 1 star but he deserves less then that. read more

Words cannot describe how much hatred I have for this man. He is rude, carless and unsympathetic to say the least. My last and final visit to this idiot was on 8/1/17. I went in for a pap and an examination. After the breast exam, which is always first and foremost, creepy, he examined my lady parts. After about 15 seconds he blurts out a diagnoses that left me in utter shock. I was literally frozen with a look of horror written all over my face. I said there could be no way.. He said well, you have it and that's what it is so, we'll start you on some meds. I had no type of consultation on this medication, no further information was given to me for this so called visual "diagnoses" and he said he'd have results in about 6 days. SIX DAYS? that's the best he could do? it was a Tuesday for Gods sake and you're telling me by Monday we "might" have results? I was livid, scared, frustrated, you name it i was it. I just couldn't fathom this news and ended up leaving work in tears. I was extremely upset and didn't know where to turn. My mother suggested I get a second opinion from her Gyno that I used to see but switched because she is located so far away. I made the appointment. She took such good care of me while I explained in between sobs what this man had said to me. She comforted me and took her own rounds of tests. Needless to say, the outcome was far less traumatic as what Tischler led me to believe. She explained everything in detail and was very thorough. Her name is Dr. Mona Ramaney and I encourage any woman seeking a second opinion or even just an opinion to look her up. Bottom line, this man has horrible bed side manner not to mention a bad reputation. A friend had warned me about him years prior but I was usually just in and out for regular pap's so the convenience of location is why I stayed with him. He has been accused of sexual harassment, inappropriate behavior with patients and nurses and also verbal harassment as well. As I read the comment mentioning there was no nurse in the room for half of the exam, psh try having NO nurse in the room at all. I thought for some ridiculous reason that was normal. STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HIM. He is GARBAGE. read more

I was new to San Pedro and was referred to Dr Tishler by my Physician, he is an amazing doctor. Both myself and my teenage daughter see him. I can always get in same day for an emergency. My daughter was diagnosed with multiple Cyst and Doctor Tishler performed a laprocopy and determine she had Endometriosis. He made the scary process very comforting. My daughter surgery went exactly how he had described. She's feeling much better and her after care has been top notch. This condition unchecked could of been very dangerous. Dr Tishler takes extra time with his patients and is one of the best doctors I have had in over 40 years.. He is also kind, caring and a great listener His staff is very responsive. The first time I was seen with this Doctor, it was for a pregnancy check at 36 weeks and it felt like he was rushing me. The next time I was scheduled to see him, he ended up having a "mandatory meeting" that even the PA who saw me looked shocked. The last time I seen him which made me switch to a other provider, was the fact that I requested that I wanted to do a vbac drom the beginning because it had been 5 years since I'd last given birth via cesarean and the provider before him who had seen me assured me I could do one. But Dr. Tischler gave me no option for it! He said he had no time to do a vbac and said that I HAD to schedule a c-section because he was too busy with other things! Even when I explained to him it has been 5 years and that this whole pregnancy has been smooth, up until he told me I couldn't deliver vaginally. To top it off he didn't even look over my whole file or records of my pregnancy which I had given the office beforehand. He found out my last pregnancy was through cesarean when he seen my scar the last time I seen him!!! So disappointed read more

I LOVE THIS MAN! He is an awesome DR. he is funny, caring, and super sincere. I love his nurse Joy. I used him as my OB for my third pregnancy, and honestly, I couldn't be happier. When it came time for delivery I was about a week overdue, and he told me I should consider inducing. I had never had to do that before. I told him I didn't feel comfortable with that unless he was going to see it through. So, he did. He scheduled it on the day he was going to be doing rounds at the hospital. I was so grateful for him. He taught me and my husband so much during that I time, that he took away all of my concerns. I have never done any kind of medical intervention, all natural, if you will, so I needed to make sure that this man was not going to make this experience any different, and it wasn't! I has such a peaceful and beautiful delivery and I was up and around after an hour. I have never been more pleased. I will go back to him again for my fourth and final round. read more

I was going to Dr Tischler for years as my OBGYN. I was ok with him, since it was only for yearly check ups, but once I got pregnant I realized how horrible he really is. Our appointments were really quick he was in out and did not even wait around to see if I had questions.When I did have questions he would seem irritated that I was researching my own information. I had to flag him to before he left my all questions. Then 1 week before my due date he told me he was going to schedule me for an induction because he was going on VACATION!!! Seriously?!?!?!? I said no way. I ended up having to be induced because I did go 1.5 weeks past my due date and he did not let me go any further, which I was really upset about. At the hospital, he did not do everything he could to prevent a c section and used scare tactics to get me to agree. He never broke my bag of water yet told me I needed to a csection due to lack of progess. I have since found another doctor. read more
