I didn't have high expectations since I hadn't tasted this Mexican-Caribbean type cousine before. I left promising to return. The restaurant is on a second story area of the Plaza and shares the space with a mexican style seafood joint and a sushi place. They have elevators and it is wheelchair accessible. The decor is impressive and they even have a small shop that sells Yucatan region's clothes and souvenirs. A very talented older gentleman in a panama style hat was crooning old and new romantic songs and playing beautifully his guitar. We were greeted with an open door and allowed to chose our table. Drinks came quick and we set at deciphering the menu. Their Maya language menu items are a challenge for anyone to translate but a helpul description of the dish is printed in Spanish below. Like, I learned that poc is pork and featured in many dishes but I went for a fish entree recommended by the waiter instead. We also shared a grilled chicken salad. Our very good waiter suggested a grilled pargo fish fillet. It came wrapped in a banana leaf and was sauteed in a tomato onion salsa with shrimp and scallops. It was accompanied by fluffy spanish rice and a roasted tomatoes green salad. The chicken salad had thin slices of breast meat. tender and flavorful. The salad dressing was delicious too. Overall a great evening out and only cost about 20 per person including drinks and tip.

When entering the restaurant, you are kindly greeted and notice a really unique, rustic decor. The music is really soothing, the type you are able to have a nice conversation without letting it disturbing you. The menu has a variety of plates which are unique to the southern region of Mexico, more specifically Yucatan. I personally tried the "empanadas de bola de queso" and "cochinita pibil". I finished it off with an anise liqueur called Xtabentún which was surprisingly smooth. Needless to say, everything was delicious.. If you are looking for traditional Mexican plates that are different from the typical tacos, burritos, tortas, etc... then this place is perfect for the occasion.

We had a couple hours in between activities, and this restaurant was near our hotel so we decided to give it a shot. Really glad we did. First of all, these are unique tacos. Not your typical "street" kind, they have interesting combinations of ingredients. I asked the waiter what their most popular taco was, and he recommended the Murat, which includes shrimp, steak, crunchy cheese, mushrooms, avocado, and sauce. They offer corn or flour tortillas, the corn is a little bit cheaper. That taco really blew my mind. Layers of different flavors, all balanced perfectly. The shrimp were fresh and meaty, the steak cooked perfectly. The sauce wasn't too heavy. The cheese was a nice complement, kind of a thin layer that appeared to be grilled. It was nice and gooey. I got another taco, I forget which one it was exactly but it was also very good. I also got a chicken mulita that was excellent. My girlfriend got two carne asada tacos that she enjoyed. I had a lemon water that was light and refreshing. They also gave us five different salsas on the side. I tried the salsa verde and it was nice. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. There is sort of an American theme going on, they played like four Michael Jackson songs while we were there. A couple other hits that I recognized. Service was friendly and helpful, the waiter was nice enough to speak English to me (I need to learn Spanish). They have English and Spanish menus. Four tacos, a mulita, and a drink cost 203 pesos, which is roughly 11 bucks. Obviously it is a different economy, but an amazing deal nonetheless. Very nice restaurant with great food, I recommend it.

Pricing good, standard for a taco stand. The food was good, but we have had better at other locations in TJ and Rosarito. The provide the plate with radish, limes, chiles, everything that is so good with the food. Could have used extra cilantro and onions and green/avo sauce. The mulitas are made a little differently, it was just two small corn tortillas made as a tostada with melted cheese and then meat. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy a meal. Also right across from an OXXO so I was able to buy a beer and bring it over to enjoy (the guys did tell me to somewhat hide it). Its ok if nothing else around, but if you can drive out or cab it, def check out other spots.

Carlos aka "Doggy" was friendly and with a positive attitude. The only thing that sucked is adobada is not available until after 10am, but it gives me a reason to come back. Tacos had flavor compared to other bigger restaurants I've been to close to el Mercado. They have a couple of parking spots on the side or street parking. They also have a bathroom but bring your own soap. They were nice enough to grill some onions for us, super delicious. Overall, I will be coming back!

Service is quick and staff is attentive and friendly. They offer PEPSI products. I'm a Pepsi kind of gal so this is a PRO for me! They also have Horchata, Jamaica, Sebada (barely) which are all very good. Not too sweet. CONS- ok so surely the PROs outweigh the CONs, but I have to mention them. The garnishes (cilantro, onions, and lemons) are precut and left on each table. I usually just ask for a separate serving of cilantro so I don't use what is on the table except for the salsas (which are usually in closed bottles). Ok so the tortillas.... they are store bought; they aren't bad, I just feel this area can be improved by offering handmade tortillas. Tacos just taste so much better in my opinion. Beverages - they offer a variety of sodas, and homemade beverages. I can't say it's a CON but I would like to see more natural options like orange juice or something for the little ones with not so much sugar. Just my opinion.
